As a victim of child sex abuse/rape, that was told that my cases were handled when I was 12 to 14. However, my perpetrator constantly harassed me and I found out that he was never fully charged and my case was extremely mishandled. I was aware that he had other victims, he is my biological dad. But, I was intimidated into silence by the Police and the District Attorney. My perpetrator was freely allowed to harass me, and I could get absolutely no help from the highest level in my home state. It was the worst thing I could ever imagine. To this day, I cannot even get an attorney to help me and I have all the proof of what happened to me and why they were intentionally intimidating me. It is something that I would never want to go through again.

The hospital I got a r kit done at lied to me, said they wouldn’t report it, but legally had to. The police practically hunted me down, basically forced me to tell them what happened, and still dubbed it as consensual despite me being 17, him being in his 20s, and drugging me. It was absolutely humiliating. This was 10 years ago. My parents grounded me, my friend told me it was my fault for taking the drink he gave me… I’d never drank before. I didn’t know what was happening. I was just a kid. This was just a rough explanation of what happened, but trust me, it was absolutely traumatizing. Edit: just to clarify, they didn’t have proof of him drugging me. I also likely didn’t need to tell them anything, but they made me feel as if I had to. AND they brought my mom in after I told him the story (in an interrogation room that they took me to) and told her the story right in front of me. Every detail. When I told another girl that was there that I didn’t think it was okay, (she was my age as well) she said, “but didn’t you take the drink?” It’s taken a long time, basically until now, for me to fully understand that it wasn’t my fault. The Cody Ko stuff specifically helped me realize this.

My sister served on a Grand Jury and they handled a number of pedo and r#pe just a year ago. There were people who questioned the victim and would bring up the idea of, "What these accusations could do to these poor men". A cop who had originally taken the victims statement had to drop that the accused person was already a convicted sex offender just to get the jury to agree to move forward which he wasn't supposed to do and the judge overseeing it scolded the officer for it. She never mentioned names or case numbers to me but she expressed frustration at the jury for trying to protect offenders.

It was disturbing. I truly believe that Boomers are high in narcissistic traits like studies claim. Older Gen X is bad too. The 2016 election and covid happening in 2020 revealed the character of those I'm surrounded by. Even people who I considered loving and morally decent people were doing selfish things, like refusing to wear a mask and going out to dinner at the beginning and height of the pandemic, where it could have been beaten through isolation. They were partially responsible for this being spread. I don't blame them for not wanting to take an experimental vaccine, but it was extremely childish to not wear a mask out in public. How difficult was it to wear one, even if it didn't work? It's not like it would have hurt them. The least they could do was wear it for other people's mental well being so they didn't have to stress out over potentially getting sick. They simply didn't care. They claimed they did, but it was a facade. There was a total lack of empathy and compassion, something they claimed to have. I started getting severe intrusive thoughts because I realized I was surrounded by borderline sociopaths. I kept thinking about how I didn't even know them like I thought I did. My judgment of them hit me 10 times harder than it did them because I was scared of becoming a hypocrite. (I don't mean to demonize people who actually have NPD or ASPD because that's not something they chose, but I can't find the words to convey just how disappointed I was with humanity.) I will never forget whom said or did what. If I ever adopt then I will never introduce my child to anyone in my family. My wedding will be an elopement.

That agreement "essentially shut down an ongoing FBI probe into whether there were more victims and other powerful people who took part in Epstein's sex crimes". well, probably because at least to this current extent, saying he's a pediatrist (intentional) would be defamation since there isn't sufficient evidence. The charge from how he was speaking was brought up, but quickly dropped, I assume it's because one of a few things of things: 1. Revealing Trump and Epstein more, would reveal Epstein and certain parties in tandem. Certain parties then put effort into concealing their own buisness, concealing Trump in the process. 2. There is no larger connection, Trump and Epstein associated as rich people socialites and were not sufficiently connected to have this used against him. 3. There is a larger connection, however evidence was sufficiently erased or non-present to remove culpability, to the point of impossibility for popular conviction. Searching the transcript Trump wasn't mentioned- I don't think any new evidence against Trump has been put on the table. If he was guilty now, he would've been found guilty before, it is not as though he is unable to be charged, and before the court of popular audiences I assume it'd be alot if he was found reasonably guilty, even if he was immune to prosecution. Washington Post has a fact check on the claim and found fairly similar results, they're centre left, so I think it's fair to say this is overblown.

@latenightdriver9680, I agree somewhat but at the same time many moderates can still be persuaded to voting for Biden as those are the voters that matter the most right now, and having a more unified democratic online community would be more useful for getting moderates to vote Biden. However when it comes to what Vaush says about debates Xan is someone Vaush has had very good debates with him where his opinion was changed. While they’re not on as good terms I still think a productive debate is very possible.

@@StrawHousePolitics it's good theyve had productive debates. Typically it's the nazi, misogynist, christofascist, tankie debates that get reposted. I've never seen them interact in a debate format myself, just passive interactions either in chat or passively mentioned. I think moderates benefit more from channels like MT, whereas Vaush has the younger edgier crowd who are a nightmare for organizing and motivating. I've spent quite a bit of time in his live chats and comments. The "moderates" he attracts are often right off the rightwing/incel/tankie pipeline. I'm just not expecting much to come of it. Vaush is pretty rooted into his "Biden needs to be replaced or we're fucked" camp. And is also very invested in his political race opinions being the factual, hard-nosed opinions. It would be a lot of "I get what you're saying, but you're being naive. People clearly dont want him" and I wouldnt blame him for not lying about that for the sake of unity. This is 2016 all over again. It doesn't even need to be a majority of supporters that will sink his chances of election. Channels like MT do better in bringing support for democrats, but looking very stupid when they let their fervour for Biden get ahead of themselves. Vaush is not good for swinging political support in the same regard, but comes off as much more measured and critical with his takes. So even when he's wrong he looks less stupid. Vaush is more so extended therapy for people fresh off the various pipelines who get deradicalized by him. I'm just saying, I don't think him, Kulinski, the majority of the majority report besides Seder will be dissuaded from their current hard critique of Biden. At the end of the day that's not a hopeful front. A lot is up in the air, and a lot of otherwise allies, will bow out from voting, and will choose their principles over the principles of others. You also have to keep in mind there are people who are left leaning, that aren't as affected or even flat out immune to the repercussions of a Trump presidency. Even if you think they will, or we agree they likely will. People just dont think the same way as us. Watching history in the making live last night, while not the only evidence of such, is the most recent example of why I've come to kinda hopelessly understand this.

@latenightdriver9680 I do also think that there are other channels that are better for moderates however a lot of people get their political info from Vaush and having a debate between him and Xan would allow for not only Vaush, but other people in his community to learn of a lot of the good Biden has passed. The media doesn’t want to cover the good Biden has done or at the very least there oblivious to his work as president. So it’s up to the online left on places such as KZbin, Twitch, Twitter, etc.. to be informed on the good Biden has done so as to spread the info since sadly most people even on the left don’t really take time to research for themselves stuff Biden has done, so having Xan debate Vaush and being able to show the good Biden has done to Vaush and his fanbase could allow for not only them, but other people that Vaush and his fanbase promote that info to.

Since the media doesn’t want to repot Biden good work as president or they’re just super oblivious to it (which I doubt). Most people get their political info from social media. So having a more people such as Vaush and his fanbase be informed on the good Biden has done would help give them the info to promote that info themselves to people they know. And the more people know about Biden’s good job, the better.

The big problem when prosecuting rape is that the victim basically disappears in the process. As a survivor myself, that was my experience, at least. The attorney reviewing my case for the DA’s office decided not to try my case because there wasn’t enough evidence to prove their case. My viewpoint as the victim did not matter at all because the burden of proof is on the government, and the presumption is that the offender is innocent. The case does not belong to the victim in any way and the fact that I was harmed and traumatized was completely irrelevant. That in addition to all of the things you said.
