The thing that always gets me is that with these white collar crimes there is always a millions loop holes and ways to not get charged at all even when everyone knows you did it. With most blue collar crimes it is a open and shut case and the person is in jail. I think this is all by design, because in both cases we can all see the person did it or not, but in the white collar crime they just have a million loopholes and ways to get away with it all. What gets me is that this comparatively minor thing is the only crime he's ever been charged with. A savvy businesswoman got one over on him, was paid for her work, was paid again to not talk about it, sued him and won in order to be able to talk about it anyways, and became even more wealthy and famous in the process. That's the landscape of this crime. But when he defruads working class people, defruads banks, assaults people, foments an insurrection, defruads the government, none of that was even worth a fine, let alone an indictment. Several of his companies are officially criminal, but that's nothing to do with him, apparently.

@@johnladuke6475 But some things aren't mistakes, they're an ongoing pattern of behaviour and it's also very arbitrary to draw a line on when the ripple effects of something stop. 5 years is way too short for most things - inc election finance and fraud violations (I know other crimes have longer timeframes). The effects of Trump as President (his actions, policies & pardons, and those of his Supreme Court & other appointees, supporters in Congress & state legislatures, in the street, Jan 6, etc) and financial fraud cases (where family incomes are destroyed) will last for generations. I understand it makes sense for DAs to judge what's in the public interest to prosecute and not go after all older cases but they shouldn't be stopped from going after people because someone drew an imaginary line in a calendar. Especially when evidence often takes a long time to surface. Judges can still give shorter sentences if they feel time has healed some of the wounds, unless of course, if they have Mandatory Minimums - another stupid arbitrary policy.

This video's intro, at the time it was posted at least, is a lie: Trump was not indicted (yet?). That makes it pretty shameless clickbait, which would be bad enough on its own, but also *because* Trump wasn't indicted at the time of the video being released, Devin *doesn't have any information about what's actually in the indictment*, even if we're reasonably sure one is coming soon. So as soon as Trump *does* get indicted, all of the information in the video is going to be outdated and possibly even incorrect in some parts. So really, this whole video seems like a very poorly-conceived ploy that is so concerned with being the first person on the block with this story that it actually risks misinforming and confusing people. Very disappointing.

It's easy to understand. If the someone is Trump, then the Democrats will move heaven and Earth to continously attack him even without evidence or probable cause....they can just manufacture those things. The real question is why Trump is hated so much by the democrats? I think it's because he can't be bought or influenced by the elite. He does whatever he thinks is best for the people, and that terrifies politicians (even some conservatives who have sold out to the DNC). I find it crazy that the DNC is constantly investigating and attacking its political opponent. Isn't that what the Democrats impeached Trump for doing back in 2019? Why can't the people see the double standards? Surely democrats can't all be this dumb.

One of the biggest problems in any Trump-related case is the one most often ignored: Most people that know anything about the man either love him or hate him, so finding people who are completely impartial for legal cases is very difficult to do. This frequently may even be ignored on purpose, because both forms of strong bias regarding Trump can easily result in someone subtly favoring one side or another, and with how strongly most people feel about him, the rare neutral people are easily drowned out by one side that refuses to see error with him and another that will say just about anything to make him look bad.

Not really relevant. The statute of limitations issue is with a New York state crime, the rule about not indicting a sitting president is a Justice Department rule for federal crimes. Furthermore, not indicting a sitting president is just Justice Department policy, not statute law. I would be very strange if statute law had exceptions in it based on somehing else that is not a law. At the end of the day, the law just isn't set up to deal with a president who commits, or appears to commit, crimes.
