For such an energetic speaker, it is not wise to use such a sensitive mic on him. Trump leans into the mic when he speaks. Gooseneck mics are used for someone that will be at a slight distance from the mic, for example standing at a podium. Trump doesn’t do that. I believe the production company should have looked at how Trump does his speeches and chose a mic based on that. Shure SM57/SM58 would have been able to handle Trump’s high energy. This video does help for when you’re in that sticky moment though lol

Is the dynamic EQ better for de-essing than the built-in De-esser?

It really depends. I like in the built in channel de,esser in the dynamics section but, sometimes it is too subtle. Where as using the dynamic eq low pass shelf to de ess is more noticeable, but only used as needed, and when not needed -the dry signal is preserved. I find the high pass shelf works great for plosives, I prefer it over the multi band compressor for that purpose.

Hilarious, simple and best solution, put the mic offset at a 45 degree angle towards your presenter, place a clearly legible sign on the base asking them to stay 9-12” away from the capsule, imlike to add or i will shock you to the end of my love notes…abd then send shure a link to this so they can sue him for defamation and direct his handlers to any of their many tutorials on how mics actually work vs. how people think they work…dynamic eqs are my go to for most sonic issues, in the case of plosives i might stack a multiband eq in front of it using only the low band with a high ratio to catch the plosive and then the dynamic to scoop it out of the mix. Using dynamic in front of the multiband causes you to have to gain the low band way up or crank the threshold way $own to clamp down on that band

@@KINETICPROFESSIONALS i often put a little bsm in the lecturn so i can tell presenters to adjust the mic to avoid plosives in the first place……sometimes i forget or am not able to warn them about he possibility of my voice coming from their crotch area, hilarity has ensued especially if i throw some god verb on my send…..

@@ericclinton7399 I used to do that but found the audibles could be distracting. The teams I am on now put messages into dsm's and promters (speak loader, move closer/away , ect. )

I never even considered that……guess that means ill have to start using the com, yuck….lol….i occasionally go out and mix orchestras playing movie scores live with the movie, one of the video guys i travel with will insert stupid dad jokes into the conductors video feed which has all of their cue information and the bouncing ball of tempo……its fun to watch the conductor’s shoulders when they get to a cringy joke
