Great video on a subject that's not explored enough in NYC! I feel the wheelchair & disabled community deserve more from the city, especially with the subway system.

I haven't seen many vlogs about this. In fact, I can't recall any. Fantastic content! Disabled access is often overlooked, so it's important to see things from that perspective. Thank you for drawing attention to it.

Society has a disability of it’s own: being unable to view things from the perspective of the disabled in terms of wheelchair access when it comes to building design, restrooms or business access (I happen to use a powered wheelchair for mobility issues) well at least public transport is evolving...

Rawan is mine and my wife true hero, She is a real star of this video and it was really awesome to watch it owing to her. Does Rawan have blog or instagram when we can follow her trips? The tips are very useful, not only for people with special needs but also with kids or general visitors to NYC (especially the one about expectations of walking and medical care ;) we have experienced it last month). Best whishes for you Sarah and for your special guest. Congratulations on a great topic for a video and we're looking forward for more.

I don't have my right leg, so I use a prosthesis to walk. Went to ny last march and before the trip I was woried about how much I would be able to walk, if I would be able to keep up with my friends. Turns out NY is very walkable, very! The city is almost 100% plain and the streets and sidewalks are in good condition. I managed to walk about 10km a day. I was amazed how easy was to get around the city in my condition. BUT, MTA fails to keep up with the rest of the city's standards. Few stations are acessible. For people like me who can use stairs, isn't perfect, but it's possible...but people on wheelchairs have a lot of trouble using the subway.

Happy to see Rawan enjoyed her time in the city. You clearly put in a large amount of time & effort into making this video, Sarah, and I appreciate that. However, the phrase "wheelchair bound" is both inaccurate and problematic. I use a chair. It is my freedom. Chairs (and other mobility aids) are tools that enable folks to live fully. Many, if not most users, view their chairs as extensions of their bodies. Please consider changing the title to "wheelchair users." :)

This was a very helpful video. We are traveling to NYC for a wedding with my 88 year old mom who broke her hip in April. She can use a walker, but needs a wheelchair for long distances. I really appreciate the insights and advice you've shared her!

Thank you for this. I want to fly my dad out to see his siblings for the last time and I didn't know how accessible the city would be for him while in a wheel chair. I used to live in the city and I know how impatient New yorkers can be when it comes to people who walk slow. So this is great to know. Thank you! Great channel. New sub ❤

Starbucks has the only accessible restrooms in all of New York. You have to walk down steep crowded stairs to get to most restrooms in NYC. And you can forget about seeing any Zbroadway shows. Impossible.
