Pretty sure you unlock the characters via Road to Elite with certain AEW characters. I know Britt Baker DMD unlocks Mr. Brodie Lee, but I don’t know who unlocks the other 2 you mentioned. I thought one was unlocked via Moxley, but his story didn’t unlock anyone. I guess just run thru all the characters in story mode and see what/who u get. And it keeps track of who you have and have not beaten the mode with, so that’s an easy way to keep up with who u still have to beat RtE with

I think they might have disregarded the lights out match for multiplayer matches because technically 3 and 4 way matches are no DQ anyway. Also I've definitely pulled other weapons from under the ring in ladder matches, though you do mostly find ladders. If anything, it is the ladder match that needs a 3 or 4 player option.

Thanks for this review. I hate to hear that the CAW mode sucks, since I love to sink time into that with wrestling games, but I'm still going to pick this up to support AEW games. Hope they will improve it in the future. One small thing I like is that the game actually allows intergender wrestling. I haven't played a WWE game since 19, so I'm not sure if they've brought that back yet.

Did you miss the part where he said it lags and stutters? John Riggs only mentioned that lag and stutter when he was playing online with RGT but definitely looks laggy to me. I imagine he’s only happy with it because it’s on the switch and can overlook the performance issues.

As a huge fan of the WCW World Tour/Reveng, WWF Wrestlemania 2000/No Mercy and especially Virtual Pro Wreystling 1/2 games on the N64, I was hoping this would be their true successor and THE wrestling game. But the more reviews I see, the more it seems the game isn't at the level I hoped it would be. I like AEW (especially now that CM Punk is back to save us from the mostly illogical boredom that has been around since he was injured) so I'll buy the PC version to play it on my desktop PC and Steam Deck/ROG Ally, but perhaps not for the full price (and you can't even pre-order the PC version anyway). Maybe the modding community will be able to unlock new game modes and such that is hidden in the files. At least you, RGT, can play with your cousin Eddie Kingston. I wish they would have concentrated less on mini games that have nothing to do with wrestling and gotten things like Trios Tags and all the other match types from Road to Elite into Exhbition instead.

Seriously, take the entire No Mercy engine. Update the skins. Give us 64 (yep) wrestlers including Ospreay, Vikingo, Komander and Bandido. No need to waste data on career mode. Axe it! Give us unlimited CAW options instead. Local and online play would hold the game up for a long, long time if the game play is there.

Hey man. I reviewed the game and at a certain point when playing I randomly completed a challenge called "unlock your first hidden wrestler" and Owen Hart was available in the shop. Now when I go to challenges I have a fourth tab called "secret" and it has an objective for unlocking a second hidden wrestler but it doesn't say how to do it. WIth Paul Wight I believe you have to beat him in the 3-minute challenge during Road to Elite. I think this may be bugged though. I literally dropped the difficulty to easy and hit the guy with 8 finishers and he still kicked out at two and let the time run down.

I’m not an AEW fan at all, but I’m a wrestling fan in general and a wrestling game fan. I’m interested in the switch version because I’m looking for a wrestling game I can actually play on the switch (2k18 I’m looking at you 😒 Inexcusable. If Witcher 3 and doom eternal can run with no issues a wrestling game should easily.) the AEW game sounds like it runs better than 2k18 but you did mention a couple performance glitches here and there. Im hoping those get patched soon. This is a huge chance for AEW. If they can get a good wrestling game on the switch they’ll have access to an entire market of gamers that WWE doesn’t, and that can lead to new fans. This game has the potential of making me a fan too

I pre-ordered the XBox version - the Switch version just didn't look crisp. (After the debacle that was 2K on the Switch a few years back with WWE, just didn't want to take a chance). I pretty much own an XBox for all my sports games anyway (WWE 2K, Golf, F1 games) etc. so I didn't want to mess with the trend. WrestleQuest will get the Switch version and I did buy RetroMania Wrestling for Switch. Really only wanted FTR, but we've waited so long that I'd already budgeted for the Elite version in my gaming $$.

Yeah, I watched a comparison video and there’s a pretty big difference as far as I’m concerned I’ll be returning my switch version when it comes on the 6th and grabbing an Xbox copy most likely tomorrow but I have the PS5 pre-ordered as well for pick up tomorrow. Like many others I didn’t know which version to go with, and had my doubts about the switch’s capabilities and it got delayed in shipping anyway.

They'll definitely be expanding on the game. THQ has a Q&A section for the game, and they said they'll be adding more modes etc in the future. Hopefully, the freezing glitch gets patched ASAP.

Yo, CAWs are officially back from back in the day lmao, the creation suite is obviously awful, but the fact you can create decent creations like Goldberg, Ospreay, Ibushi, Lita, Guerrero, Reigns, Nakamura, Styles & Bret Hart is wild! You definitely gotta make a video on the CAWs in this game for a throwback from the older games. If they just a ton more faces, and face morphing, it'll be way better obviously.

My favorite wrestling games was the one on Nintendo 64. Then came the one on gamecube. That blew me away. Any move rather its in mid air you can interrupt or on the rope climbing or on the ground. Ever since that game wrestling games never felt the same. You can be playing tag team watching your partner getting slimmed, you can only watch after the slimmed before you can help out or hit your opponent. Smh who thought to removed that feature. All these wrestling game from their sucks!. Including this one if the feature is not included. Oh well I'll keep waiting

@@thehorrorhound6575 rather its a special delivery or simply a grabber, at any time you can interrupt if you choose to and that made that game so much fun, crazy and special. Playing tag team match really felt like it can go either way despite ones skills. How can someone call a game wrestling when you can't interrupt an individual move in process. Blows my mind. Have to wait then to hits your target never made sense to me. But yeah man good time

Im having fun with this game but I don't think it will last long n I'll probably be going back to Wrestling Empire soon being it's my favorite wrestling game on Switch since it's very reminiscent of the old-school N64 wrestling games that I loved.

Owen hart is unlocked after you complete any 100 matches on the exhibition mode Paul white was stated you got keep losing on the story mode and there’s a story where it says someone is ribbing me it turns out be Paul white you get face him unlock him Brodie Lee is done by get to a dark order part on story go through that and he’s under the shop after all the 3 characters are unlocked on the shop to purchase through the points earned 50,000 most of them are at hope this helps read this up earlier today

I hope they release updated yearly physical versions with the DLC & updates from the previous year on disc. I want a physical version of this game that's well baked. Playing this game out of the box 10 years later when all the update servers are down will be a very half-baked venture.

Bro, why yearly releases? Whenever a new one comes out, you can no longer play the previous one with friends because of the servers. What they need to do is release this one, learn from this one and make a better product next time. These yearly releases on certain games is just not it.

As someone who raged when they censored the blood in No Mercy...the blood in this game is just ridiculous. 6 pints appearing all over the mat the second you touch tacks is neither realistic or even well animated.

Getting it on Switch Friday. Game looks fun and I think eventually Game Pass gets the game. Not the biggest AEW fan but it def looks fun and I play my Switch way more than my other consoles.
