That's the one thing I don't care for about KDP, is that they really aren't clear about what changes they make and then they implement it, THEN they announce it and immediately nail people before even giving people a chance to comply. I have half a dozen books sitting on the bookshelf waiting to be published, but I'm afraid to publish them. I keep checking and rechecking the guidelines and worrying that I missed some tiny step that is going to get me nixed.

My tips? I can share that my first novel has been on Amazon since 2010 and I did it all wrong including typos and buy a Vanity publisher. For personal reasons, I took it out of distribution. Yet, I get Vanity Publishers contacting me to republish it for $3,000 this time. Tip: you will have to do all the marketing anyway. They may set up tables at events so they can get their commission - but you have a ton of work to do anyway. Can you afford a few hundred books to be printed in case you sell them in LA and Germany at and major events? I can't. They may be like used car 'salesmen" - but it is a learning experience. Tip- Don't have a co-author. Tip- EDIT for typos. Ask friends to look it over and even get alleged co-authors to check for typos. Tip- be careful of the names you use - look them up even if an 'archangel' through the 'friend; tells you to use certain names like 'Never Land" or "Siberia" in an allegorical heaven. TIP Don't rush a novel in 3 months because the friend tells you the 'Earth is going to end' and the book has to get published first.

Madam, I have recently ( one month & half) started publishing a good number of books on Amazon kdp. But surprisingly I have been able to sell 2 of my books (low content) without any advertisement or social media marketing. Should I continue like this?

Hi. After doing my first ad with Amazon, my KDP account was abruptly terminated over a year ago. I am still unclear about what happened and have had no luck getting someone to offer some insight from KDP. Do you have any tips on how to reinstate an account? A few of my books are still being sold on Amazon as well. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Any feedback would be great. Thank you!

The only way to get your account back is by contacting Amazon KDP. Without knowing any background information, it is impossible for me to advise. I recommend you contact them again and try and find out why you got terminated. Keep trying to speak to an actual person, there is a chat feature that you can hopefully access. Unfortunately, Amazon's emails are very cryptic and unclear at times. I really hope you can get this resolved. Best of luck!

I have a full-time job and, after work, I just want to rest and so finding the time and energy to really give KDP a go given that work obligation can be challenging. Suggestions welcome. I guess it's a question of not wasting time doing too many non-productive activities and narrowing one's focus. Thank you. Looking forward to buying your book and branding course.

It's not easy when you have a full time job. However, just do what you can. It's amazing how little things over the days can add up to quite a few accomplishments. Focussing on what moves the needle is key. I learned that the hard way too. Just take small steps but often, and focus on one thing at a time. It helped me a lot to make a schedule/plan with things that I wanted to accomplish and then I just chipped away whenever I could. I wish you all the best on your publishing journey.

@michaelrush1390 I agree, it is hard when you work full time (as I do too) but people still manage to do it. We just have to leave ourselves enough time to work on our business regularly. Consistency usually pays off it seems :) Good luck!

It took a few months. You won't get results from the start, it's really a matter of building your following. But if you spend 10 minutes a day even, this time in 6 months, you will see the difference pay off.

Without knowing more about your books it's impossible to advise you. Please contact Amazon and find out why, they should send you an email with the reason. Also make sure you follow Amazon's guidelines to the letter.

Hello. I listened very attentively to your advise and I must confess it's an eye opener. I would wish a review from you as an established author. I have an a USA elections 2024 themed Ebook (hard cover still under review) titled "What would Olivia Pope Do In Kamala Harris' Place?" It's rather time bound considering the elections are a month to come. Under the circumstances, what are the chances for selling after the elections?

That is a very difficult question to answer. Have you researched similar books that were launched before an election? That might be the best way to find out. Unfortunately this is the problem with topics that are trending, it means that in time there might not be a high demand. Best of luck, I hope it all works out well for you.

Memoirs are difficult to sell unless you're a well known or famous person. You could try and advertise. What did your research tell you before you published? Was there demand? There are lots of reasons why a book doesn't sell, but try marketing and promoting your book. I wish you all the best.
