Nothing wrong with how they are living. The problem people seem to have is that she has crapped on everyone else's living arrangements for years (all speculative low blows) but now doesn't want anyone to criticize hers. Doesn't work that way, Foodie. If he is working and paying his own way as a non-Kuwaiti resident, I give him all the credit.

Realistically they probably had very few options with her fear of elevators, & their residency/ citizenship status. A lot of building managers won’t rent to men who aren’t Kuwaiti citizens & / or who are married to a Westerner who doesn’t have an employment contract.

About the gas setup in the kitchen. Look I'm a firefighter who lives and work in South America. Here those are the most common thing and it's virtually impossible to make that explode. Only cases are poor installation and the gas has this odor that they put on porpoise just to note any gas scape instantly. It's not dangerous at all if you use it in a responsable way. Other characteristic is that king of gas is very thin, so if some of it escape to the air, it will be very difficult to ignite, it propagate too quickly to stay in high concentration in the environment. So it's not to worry. Underground gas has many more accidents and there are more common. Sorry for my English.

The window in the living room does have an outside view, but it opens onto an internal space for airflow. Kind of like a square building with a void in the middle. Those gas cookers with the gas bottle aren't that weird, although in the West people generally only have such for camping purposes because gas comes from the pipe if your apartment uses gas, or your container might be placed in the basement and has a longer pipe delivering gas to the kitchen. But it's definitely the solution lower income apartments have in places like Kuwait, perhaps because it's more common in South Asia and a lot of the people who live in those apartments come from South Asia as migrant workers.

I appreciate your research and looking up Aimee Rebecca’s channel as well. I really wished you’d shown how Aimee Rebecca had shown that strange window to nowhere that goes between buildings up to and down to nothing…. It’s so odd. Also, Aimee as well as most female single teachers are Ina cohabiting living situation. Her footage was of her shared kitchen, shared living quarters- really the only two things that were hers alone were her bathroom and bedroom. This is what I think Chantals situation is. The multiple drinks in fridge, the foods she clearly never cooked with like pastas, the bathroom had multiple sets of shampoo conditioners- which seems odd for a couple, when none is bald. The fact that she didn’t show half the room indicates to me that it’s a closet and you’d clearly see no men’s clothing. I think salah still has his place, and comes by for visits. This is my opinions because of the current apartment- the sudden move to the apartment and none of his previous stuff in that new apartment and that all my research says that it would’ve been quite the paper work undertaking to get both her papers from Canada (months worth of work and wait time) and his papers in order as a Syrian. The fact that she was flashing these rings heavily almost immediately but never gave any more details kb her wedding day. Chantal had this as a dream goal. Finding her Arabian Prince to fall in love and marry her. She would pressure Nader to go on lives and to show any couple related content to prove how in love they were. If she finally had a man in love ab marrying her- who also is willing to be on her “show” as much as this guy has been, she’d have shown it in detail- every.single.second. Even if it was just signing papers.

In Kuwait when it comes to apartments it’s either luxurious or below “average” but there are many really good residential buildings and duplexes. Also there is the “flat in some local’s villa” that you can rent (which most locals usually go for when they have to live on rent until they’re ready to move to their own villa). You can find out judging from her video the place is VERY cheap in rent (no judgment there) but yeah for foreigners if you’ve got good money you get good apartment or if you’re a rich foreigner or have a good paying job over there you can even live in a luxurious residential building with all the facilities like a playground, a gym, a pool, a bbq area, terrace, penthouse….etc You have to keep in mind it is a rich country with most people owning their own villas so yeah a “basic” place is not a thing there or if it was it would be kinda expensive to a western standard (or a poor local standard😅). You get either gold or whatever is below bronze idk, BUT again there are good places to find it’s not mission impossible, it’s just that the REALLY REALLY GOOD ones are super expensive in a foreigner standard, a basic apartment rent in Kuwait could give you a luxurious apartment in the U.K for example.

The toilet in the bathroom/shower is no different to some of the disability and aged care places having the toilet in the shower room. I am in Australia and have worked in aged care and disability places, and many have one room for both the toilet and shower. We just dry the floors and any areas that are wet after the residents have a shower, etc. They are designed this way because it can be more of an open space for assisting people who use wheelchairs or hoists, etc. So, their bathroom they have really is not anything new to the western world.

As someone who got around with a wheelchair or a walker, she had a much easier time using the facilities and shower. By contrast, I've stayed in hotels in several Western European cities and they all had the shower stall (or tub with shower attachment) and toilet and sink in the same room like a 'typical' bathroom in the States. @@SansaCooks I'm subscribed to Finnish 'Queen of Clean' Aurikatariina and most of the Finnish apartments she has cleaned have this bathroom set up with the shower just draining into a floor drain. But they also have the washing machine in the bathroom. Whereas having it in the kitchen like it is here in Salah's apartment, is a UK thing. So to is calling the set up where a shower isn't contained by a cubicle a 'wet room' to make it sound posher than it is! LOL. (Edit) Oh and that's the gas set up we use when glamping, so yeah it does look alarming in a home, but as long as the fittings are all correct, it's going to be safe enough.

That apartment layout wouldn't be terribly out of place in Mexico with the exception of the washer and dryer. Most of the time washing machine is outside on a patio and there's no dryer. Tanks of gas are commonly use for cooking but hook up to regular gas burner stoves that have been adapted to use it. Trucks go house to house in the ranchos and make delivery of it. Combugas is a pretty popular one

I've lived in rentals that prohibited hanging of pictures (I chose to do it it anyway, and forfeit my security deposit in order to have a homey atmosphere), but Salah nailed up shelves in the kitchen. Those are still the ugliest tiles I've seen in an apartment, and that horrible window could be covered with a nice fabric. Chantal lived in a largely unfurnished townhouse in Orleans, so she must not care about making things nicer.

Most locals who live in rent either live in a penthouse in one of those luxurious buildings or they rent a flat in another local person owned villa. The gas in those containers is so called liquefied petroleum gas. It's not as dangerous as so called "regular gas" as in some pipe lines. It's more stable and there's a few safety systems readily installed in the containers, so it's quite impossible to blow up any by just using it the way it's supposed to be used. In order to have an accident with these type of gas containers (an explosion or something similar) there needs to be a large house fire or ammunition that hits and breaks the container.

Oh my goodness! I would have written so much more. I didn't think that you read comments from so long ago. ❤️🤗❤️ I love your no drama...extremely logical approach to Foodie's videos. And it's because of your channel I have tried yellow dragon fruit which is so much sweeter than pink and sweet apples. (What an unusual custard type fruit that is) I have also started to read more about life in Kuwait. It really is the port to other countries because there isn't really much going on there which I was really surprised to read about. Tourism isn't a thing. Work and religion are everything. I also found out teachers get paid a lot over there and they don't need to be certified. Probably because religion is education. It's fascinating to read about Kuwait, but in terms of Chantal... it's not the healthiest country for her to be in. Too much inside time. I was listening to another interviewer and the person they were interviewing said it's a very simple life here. There aren't too many choices so you really need to know who are as a person to make a life here. People and people's homes become your social life. It's a very socially and religiously interconnected/intertwined country. Another person said that they were good in Kuwait for three days and they needed to get out because there was really nothing for him to do there. It was also extremely heart breaking to read that pets are not considered to be a part of the family in Kuwait. My understanding is that people don't need to take care of their pets....vets are optional. It's extremely heartbreaking to hear about what they do to their dogs when they don't want them any more. It made me hug my dog even more. Why have a pet if they can't love it with their whole soul? I don't understand it. Anyway your channel is very education. It made me want to want to understand real life Kuwait even more. I hope you have a great day and weekend ahead and keep doing what you are doing. You are amazing at it ❤️🤗❤️

From my own research, I’ve found out that Salah being from Syria (even tho Chantal lies about this bc it’s VERY clear from his 2011 FB that his ‘Home’ is Dara Syria) it means he IS A REFUGEE. That status can NEVER unfortunately change. Therefore the ONLY living option to him is refugee housing. If u look into this, the Kuwaiti’s will NOT even live NEAR refugees. I don’t agree with it & think it unfair however it’s just the REALITY of how these ppl r treated in Kuwait. And yes, I did extensive research. So it makes sense 🤷🏽‍♀️

That's very interesting, thank you! As a tourist, could Chantal not rent a 3-month Airbnb? I really wish she would clarify all this.

The place is pretty clean and those burners cook very well.

I agree, gas burners cook great. In the States, we don't have indoor gas tanks like this. Ours are outdoor propane tanks.

There would be much less commentary on her living conditions if she hadn’t consistently gone after those of reactors for the past few years. You reap what you sow.

I think the 2-month delay in showing her apartment contributed as well...

Where is Foodie’s toothbrush? Does she ever brush her teeth? I can’t wrap my head around it. I have so many questions lol.

She's hiding the beds 🛌 🛌 in the bedroom. No way they're sharing a bed.

Mteah nothing personal on that side of the bedroom except the twin bed, I mean she showed one corner of the bed trying to convince us it's a double, haha What strikes me is how it doesn't look like anyone just moved in there. It doesn't have that "just moved" look, everything looks like someone has lived there for years except the couch maybe. So many bathroom bottles, half finished soap, the spices. Dunno, just looks different to me.
