The Truth about Ayahuasca | Four shamanic ceremonies in Peru

A couple of years ago I traveled to Iquitos Peru, in the middle of the Amazon rain forest, to experience Ayahuasca is a shamanic setting. I've waited this long before making a video because I wanted to gain enough perspective to understand and communicate the experience clearly. This is by no way a complete accounting of my travel and stay at the Spirit Quest Shamanic Sanctuary, but it's a good start. I hope this video, and what I say in it, help you understand the Ayahuasca brew and the overall experience a little better.

If you're considering taking Ayahuasca, I strongly recommend taking it in a shamanic setting. Mainly because the experience can be incredibly intense, I found myself coming to in the fetal position a couple of times, and when it's kicking your butt, you'll want someone that truly understands by your side. I mean the type of understanding that seems to transcend the intellect. It's not for the faint of heart, but it's not as bad as many people make it sound. Ayahuasca is seemingly only as harsh as you need it to be. Let me know if you have any questions. Best whishes.

I agree with you on the part of not having an intention for the ceremony. The brain tends to focus on that and many times it’s hard to enter the process. To me is more about being fully open, allow Aya to take you where you need healing and fully surrender. When we are open and surrender many changes occur.

Absolutely. I try to be a student. I'm not a detective. I know there's so much that I'm unaware of that I'll accept anything that deepens my understanding and heightens my perspective.

I've come across many videos, and your explanation of your personal experience resonates with my thoughts and understanding. I do have one question. Have you experienced the bufo alvarius toad ( 5-MEO-DMT)? If not, maybe in the near future, if there's a calling, you'll make a video as well. While Ayahuasca is very visual, it's more grounded than psilocybin and smoked DMT. It's less about the trip and more about the relationship or connection to the presence you feel in the substance. After a stern talking to, even though it comes in many forms, you seem to be ready to make changes you didn't seem close to making beforehand.

I’ve also felt that motherly feeling on shrooms. It took on the form of one of my friends whom I took them with. What’s crazy is they said they left me alone in another room, and I was having an entire experience with that motherly figure.

I love your video, Mr. Benjamin. I watched a bunch of other people's on Ayahuasca before, I've read some books, but yours was the most "keepin it real." Maybe it's because I live in Philly or I'm a skeptical old Jew, who knows. You don't sound like you belong to an esoteric fellowship with it's own jargon, etc. (Don Howard did seem like the real deal though). Thank you.

@Lex Benjamin What's the name of that part of the compound that makes up the Ayahuasca that causes the intensity that you said they can take out so a person will have a less horrific experience?

I'm not sure. I think it's just a chemical compound in a couple of varieties of leaves. We used three types of leaves and then the Ayahuasca vine. Other people use five types of leaves. Unfortunately, Don Howard passed away, but I'll ask someone who is still associated with his work to see if they know.
