I have been using beeswax for 16yrs I only use it when I retwist with Murrays lock gel and I base my scalp with coconut oil before I twist. Only use one finger lightly of it for hold purposes with the gel and twist the lock. I also palm roll my locks all the way down when I retwist then I sit under a hood dryer for about and hour til everything drys, comes out perfect especially if you have soft hair and that's the only time I use beeswax it's not a everyday week month thing to use. Natural oils and water for up keep only! You don't need to use a glob of beeswax! A jar of beeswax should last you at least two years! I also have never slept on my locks from day one. I always use a women's bottom tight not stockings! To wrap my hair it never comes off. This is how to keep them looking super neat!

I've used beeswax for 20 years with a non alcohol gel after shampooing. You have to hood dry your hair completely for no buildup and no yuk feeling after use. It really smooths the lock out and gives shine. However I don't use it from roots to ends every time I retwist either.

I had used Murray's black beeswax when first getting locs years ago back in 2011 or 2012 and it always kept my hair in place but it did cause build up and just washed it out and got rid of my starter locs. Just a couple years ago I went to a salon and got them again but they kept unraveling after just a couple weeks and I tried to use gel but it wasn't working. I got two strand twist a couple months ago and decided I was going to keep them in and make them loc up. I got them retwisted by a friend using gel. She said the gel was doing the job but I eventually needed to get beeswax to make them hold better because the gel wasn't going to work long term and she was right because as I tried using the gel, they weren't staying in long enough. Only for 1 day. I had just bought a natural beeswax and used it this past Tuesday and it worked perfectly. My hair doesn't feel as soft anymore and it hasn't unraveled. I won't be using gel ever again. I recommend to anyone that wants to use beeswax to just use natural beeswax. Store bought beeswax is horrible and has a lot of bad ingredients. Not all beeswax is bad!!!!

@MusicLoverGurl8 жыл бұрын
Lint, you mostly just have to pick out with your fingers or a little comb. U saw someone who recommended doing it weekly, so it doesn't get buried in there. Build up can be removed with an apple cider vinegar rinse, but that also dries your hair out a LOT, so you don't want to do it regularly, and if you maintain your locs decently, wash your scalp regularly, you shouldn't NEED to do it too often.
