Looking at it from a positive perspective, Guts is finally allowing himself to feel something. Our boy is processing his grief and despair in a much healthier way now, truly taking to heart what Godot was talking about. The fairy island was the calm before the storm. This is a pivot point in the series where things change. They already started Guts down the road to understanding the origin of the God Hand. I believe he will go further to unlocking the mystery, and find the way to defeat them. But first, Guts has to hit rock bottom to rebuild himself.

Firstly, I think Griffith still does care about Guts and wants him to realize just how untouchable he is. Not to suffer but give up on seeking vengeance, justice, or restitution. Since Griffith is just that petty, not intentionally making Guts suffer as much as he could if he wanted to, but he is just as petty as he was when he secured his role as leader of the band of the hawk and hand of the King of falconia which will be his undoing. I believe Griffith won't be satisfied with being a God Hand and wants to be the only God Hand as they share in his power. I could only imagine Void and / or Griffith manipulating Guts and inadvertently powering him up to take out the other. If not that, then Guts may literally have to sacrifice everything in a figurative sense, which is why I believe he has the behelit. He may have to literally become the Black Horseman, which I believe his title is a pun on. Or an avatar of it. Something conceptually similar to an apostle, though instead of making a deal with the devil it would be with fundamental forces of the universe or nature. Much of how Shuruke calls upon elemental forces, but more contractual. As though people are dying, more people are also cheating death by becoming apostles or Godhand members.

I last stopped reading around when Miura passed away and read one of the new chapters but stopped due to be being but when I would want to read again I would just restart the series(I've done this like 6 times now) and after seeing the latest chapter I couldn't believe it. The embodiment of indomitable human spirit, Guts the Black Swordsman finally broken. The one thing that you rely on let you down, I honestly think Guts might contemplate suicide at this point. Part of the reason he was able to push forward regardless of the challenge or monster was that THERE WAS ALWAYS A CHANCE, because in the end they all bleed but Griffith is beyond Guts and this one. I was soo contented wiith everything after guts and the crew got to elfelhm specially seeing the moonlight boy playing with guts inthe berserker armor and the moment i saw Griffith at the end of chap 364 i hesitated reading for a while ... finally i read the the 364 to 371 chapters and i have never felt so much in deep despair i can't handle anything anymore at this point and the fact he let go literally droppingtl the dragon slayer i knew guts has got broken beyond measure .... i dont care how but just make our years of pain watching guts through all this have a fitting beutiful and happy ending

This is another great example of the storywriting in Berserk. The pacing, the dialogue, it draws you into Guts' feelings, into all the emotions. Like, right after the eclipse, you get it, you feel ticced at griffith and 100 percent wanna see his spine get ripped out. And yet you feel it slow down when he tries to run back after casca, realizing what he's given up, and you agree with him.

Personally how I think this series would move end is by guts and skull knight rampaging inside the alternate dimension. With skull knight sacrifice his life to kill void leaving guts to take out the rest. The series would then end with guts finally dying, all his bones broken and all his blood drained from his body upon the 5 fingered statue. His sword laying beside him planted in the chest of femto.
