Thanks for posting this video. I’ve gone 0-5 this month after finding availability on United and then Virgin telling me not available to book. I finally asked the last rep if something was wrong or if something has changed with the partnership where this booking is no longer available. The response was that nothing official has been announced but he hasn’t been able to book this award flight for anyone in the last month. Hopefully this is a temporary thing.

Wow, that's really good information. That's crazy this representative hasn't booked this flight in a month. Thanks for sharing and sorry you're having a tough time getting this flight. I hope next time you try it works out because I also heard that nothing had changed with their partnership, but they might be working on something we won't like

I also did not see these award flights on aeroplan. But I’ve heard people comment that aeroplan has been having issues.

Yes, I would have loved to use Aeroplan, but I didn't see the flights on there either. It's been a while since I've seen ANA on Air Canada's website

I can relate. I tried the last min experiment with ANA, even 1 day before departure and no seats/flights were available. Lesson learned, have a backup flight, though, recently we were able to fly the ANA “The Suite” to Japan last May.

Yes, it's a very good idea to have a backup flight that you can easily cancel in case you end on the perfect business or first class seat. I'll keep trying ANA in the future because it still seems to be worth it even after all this

@@JacobsPointsAndProfit it definitely is, though business class award is catching up to first class (52k vs 85k), and it seems much harder in 2024, i booked multiple times in 2023 and phantom flights were never an issue

I also want to experience ANA "The Room" business class seat some day. Keep in mind that June-July and Christmas time is usually the busiest time or High season on most flights to Asia. I hope you will be able to experience it in the future.

Why didn't you try Air Canada Aeroplan?

I tried but ANA never came up every time I searched on Aeroplan. I know that used to be a good deal, but I wonder if ANA stopped giving Air Canada award availability

@@JacobsPointsAndProfit I also run a similar a channel about maximizing miles and points and was researching for a video and was able to find availability on ANA. I found quite a bit of availability from HNL which isn’t ideal but it’s something. I think if you find the award space on United you can probably call Aeroplan and make the booking.

Ah that sucks man. It's def a pain to find and lock in ANA. I ended up going with another option for this reason. The next time around I'll try a diff approach. On a positive note, you got to fly back on points, so at the end of the day you still took a W.

I’ve seen a lot of data points that Ana isn’t showing up for virgin t-14 for the last few months. Some kind of issue on the back end.

Yeah I kind of read something about that while I was editing this video. It doesn’t seem like they changed their partnership at all so probably something weird going on that might be fixed later

Will Virgin hold your flight if you don’t have the points actively in your account?

I heard yes and I've heard no. My plan was to transfer the points while I was still on the phone with them. So as soon as they said it was available I would send the points over as assuming the points transferred instantly I would ask them to refresh my account so they could see I had points in there and then they could book the flight for me

It's possible that there's a problem with Virgin right now, but they admitted they have less award availability than United, so I think it's always been this way where just because we see it's available on United doesn't mean that it'll be available on Virgin
