My dad has type two diabetes and has been on something similar for a long time. I literally have to remind him to eat and get some kind of exercise. He was never really overweight but lost a huge amount of weight including muscle tone. It's so important to eat a balanced diet and exercise too. If dad didn't I think he might literally have wasted away.

Thanks for that real life review, I have spent 90% of my life overweight! very active but ate for the rest of my team mates as well! 😂 At 50 i found Keto and blow me a diet that actually worked for me, lost 5 stone, but the last couple of years have started picking at carbs and low and behold it starts to creep back on! I can honestly say i reckon carbs to me are an addiction! i think about them every time i am in the vicinity of the fridge 😁I wont take drugs and am back on strict Keto to get back to a favoured weight but the will power required is massive and not everyone has it so if these GLP's work, more strength to the people giving it a go

I was put on Ozempic by my GP because I was borderline type 2 diabetes. But it did nothing for me, 1 year later and was put on Mounjaro. It couldn’t be better, my appetite is near nothing and I think more clearly. Another benefit is my longer endurance at bedtime

Good for you but not everyone has your background, mentality, circumstance, knowledge ect ect. There is room for either approach.

I’ve been full carnivore for 20 months - lost 80lbs in the first 6 months and have kept every pound off. I’d been a yo-yo dieter for 54 years until going carni. I’ll never go back to eating carbs 👍

I knew a bloke that had his stomach stapled, lost all the weight, then died of bowel cancer. When you look into it, its quite common. Be interesting to see in a few years to see if it happens with these injections as much, but i guess they can eat bulky foods, but i guess they wont want to. When i was a kid i was starving all the time. Now i am more a food connoisseur and enjoy my food much more, very picky, maybe anal about it. I eat twice as much, and are no longer obese. The high energy highly bioavailable foods dont appeal to me now, i have to work for my energy. Could be a bit to do with hormones and less grelin. My thyroid is a bit underactive and i take a small dose of thyroxine. Maybe thats causing a bit less hunger too. It did suck having all those cravings when i was young

Here’s what’s going to happen to your friend IMO. She will reach a weight she’s happy with, then stop buying it. Within a short amount of time she’ll be back to eating how she was when she put weight on, and end up back at the same place. Either that, or she’ll need ti start upping the dose and taking it constantly to maintain the same level of satiety. Then with a higher dose she’s more at risk serious effects (don’t call them ‘side effects’…drugs have effects whether good or bad, they’re just ‘effects’). People taking these are not addressing the problem - they’re not curing themselves of the cause of their weight gain. Which is purely sugar addiction - and understand all carbs are sugar - the instantly metabolise into glucose (or fructose from fruits). I’ve been a bottle of wine a night, and recreational pharmaceuticals clubbing at the weekend guy in my past, and they were never a problem - I was always in control. But sugar is ultra addictive, and I only broke that after 30 days cold Turkey from all carbs. It was like being free after 50+ years of yoyo dieting. I got rid of the cause. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done going full carnivore.

@@jamesdonoghue5907 possibly so. However the lack of craving has led to her eating an organised healthy diet. It is equally possible she maintains it after cessation of the drug as the habit cycle is broken.

A lot of people are against this but I say it's 2025, so why not take advantage of modern medicine that was previously only available to the richest people?

I think you have to ensure you still get nutrients from what you do eat. And bone density can be affected. What happens when you come off the injections? If you've not addressed why you over ate to begin with.....would people put the weight back on?

For sure. It is only going to help kickstart a healthy lifestyle. Then the lifestyle will hopefully continue and keep people healthier. Of course some will just revert back their old ways and get out of shape again.

When did eating less and exercising become unfashionable 🤔
@thatgearguy
@thatgearguy 2 күн бұрын
It is not unfashionable, it is difficult. I can do it, maybe you can to. But most cannot. Otherwise we would all be lean. I have been fat and I have been lean. I know it requires serious dedication and mental toughness, more maybe than many people have.

Interesting. How it was described to me was that it stops the food noise ie I want to eat that, every time they saw food.
