DO NOT get into music production in 2024 (unless it's a hobby). Just look at Suno or Udio which are still in their infancy, music production is over. In one year you will probably make more money playing some hippie drum in the street than producing music professionally.

Unfortunately.. I would disagree. There's a difference between making music and arranging music.. anyone can grab a guitar loop.. but if you want something custom you're going to end up having to play it or hire someone to do it. I'm not saying that using loops or manually programming your parts is bad or incorrect. If it sounds good then it is good. But there will be a point where you will struggle because of the lack of technical ability or knowledge of playing an instrument. But hey.. if you only making electric music... Then you might be able to get away with it...

You certainly need talent to become a good doctor or lawyer. And you need talent to become a good music producer. But if you just want to make songs then there's not much holding you back really.

Regarding synths in the 70's and 80's. Most of them were highly programmable and people actually relied way less of presets than they do now. The lead melody from "Running up that hill" is played using a sample of a cello that is slightly processed. So it's not a synth really. But yes, it is one of the standard Synclavier samples, that's true. That said, I agree that there's certainly no reason to learn how to create a sound from scratch. Yes, it's good to know the basics if you want to alter the presets. But it's not required.

Yeah, well, electronic music is a pretty huge style. Haha! 🤣 But yes, if you wanted to make rock, you'd probably want to learn the guitar first.

Let's be honest. Don't venture into the music industry; it's full of challenges and becoming increasingly difficult. Influencers tik tokers abound, and many major producers are more focused on their social media presence than on musical talent. Music charts are often manipulated, with companies manipulating sales on platforms like Beatport and artificially boosting streaming numbers on Spotify. If you're unknown and considering starting now, I strongly advise against it. I've spent 20 years in the music industry, traveled extensively, and achieved success with numerous top tracks on Beatport. I even run my own record label. Trust me when I say, newcomers face immense hurdles right from the beginning. The idea that success in music can be achieved through coaching is a fallacy, especially considering the rise of AI-generated music. Don't waste your money pursuing this dream. The music industry is inherently risky, and without financial resources, it's an even tougher road to navigate.

Sounds like you're talking about the outdated and obsolete "legacy music industry". The new music industry takes a completely different form, and while achieving success is certainly challenging and takes a lot of time and hard work (what doesn't?) it's a much more manageable path for most people.

@@OrpheusAudioAcademy hehehehe the new industry. U sound like I am selling vinyls around, from 70’s. My record label is top10 in 3 genres to be precise this week bro. There is no such thing as new industry the whole game is manipulated and it getting much worst. What you sell here is hope and only this, so I understand you defend the position but when you write truth be careful as the truth is much deeper. 😀
