Please share the show with a couple of friends you think would like it. Word of mouth really helps our show reach more people (and their dogs). Which helps us to keep making more episodes!

Really good episode. To add to the point about leaving toys out - my dogs have some accessible for recreational chewing, like antlers. However ‘high value’ toys like Kongs and balls on rope, tugs are saved for training / interactive play only. Can’t allow soft toys due to dissection!

The message in this episode should not be underestimated by the causal dog owner. Understanding how dogs learn makes training so much easier and so much fun, and it allows you to get the best out of your dog, and form a real bond through clarity and understanding. Great episode guys 👏🏼

Really good episode, as a dog walker I constantly see houses with unlimited amounts of toys available for dogs, most of them never touched. My dogs toys are in my van & he associates different toys with different training interactions. My house is for peace & calm, a great point made that a lot of dogs have not been taught the ability to just switch off.

I cried lots whilst watching this episode……I don’t enjoy training, as I don’t really understand what I’m doing and find it so frustrating! Thanks for being relatable! Guilty dog owner ✔️ starting afresh! 🤗

Really good podcast. No airs and graces. Nobody afraid to laugh at themselves and admit their own errors or situations that didn’t go to plan. Great to be able to step outside a situation and review it. Great to hear that we are all emotive humans and sometimes act out of a reactive emotion rather than controlled instruction when we attempt to train our dogs or get frustrated when they won’t follow a command, but when we step outside the situation and review it to learn from that review and change and improve how we go forward together with our dogs. I have one question and it may not be solvable. How can I stop my 4yr old female Akita from eating her own poo….

Question bout dog eating poo, think you hit nail on head with my girl, she is rescue and was left for 8 hrs a day from being puppy, so she wouldn't be getting 4 meals a day, so like you say filling in the gaps.....

Another great episode guys, thank you so much. As humans its so easy for us to expect and see traits such as guilt, love etc but in reality owners as a whole just dont think or understand how a dogs mind works. As jamie said about the body language association, unless you catch them in the act and stop them immediately, theres no point giving them a rollocking 30mins later when you get home to a torn open bin bag!! Love the shows guys, please dont stop ❤

How to stop dogs from chasing cats? I'm afraid if I correct her she would become scared of them as she associates the correction with the cat
@unleashedk9servicesdannywe703
@unleashedk9servicesdannywe703 Жыл бұрын
There are corrections to allow the dog to know it’s wrong and there are corrections to make the dog avoidant. If you work with a reputable trainer, they’ll assess the situation and see which is best for the dog & cat

Fantastic insights; I'm wondering if @jamiepenrith was sitting reviewing every arrest + guilt with the comment on the timeline of events unfolding. 🤣 I don't think nature has a concept of guilt; if they did, then no animal would ever eat because its often young, old and sickly animals who are eaten by others, which is the absolute worse thing you can do in humanity (I'm not advocating for it not to be just to be clear). We had a cat that wouldn't let the gsd pup down the stairs - he didn't go up the stairs again because he got stuck up there by the cat. Danny is spot on with hand signals; I'm terrible for it with my ADHD as I talk with my full body (literally, adhd is similar to dog brain works in many ways); in all my previous dogs, I've been able to click for attention and hold a finger pointing to the ground for walking at heel. My dog isn't there yet; he's something totally different from what I'm used to, he'll chase, he'll pick the stitches on toys & eat the fluff (so no more soft toys) - I'd say he has a complete prey drive & it can be hard to trust him because he can be so impulsive (so can but not in the same sense, I'm not hunting). an off switch or standing still is a complete challenge for him. He wants to wander with no destination in sight. He's a training and management dog, for sure. My son's dog has separation anxiety; he's ripped curtains and an Armani tracksuit to bend and break the end of the crate to escape.

Oh and about toys. I always put them away. But I went a bit further and separated out door toys from indoor toys. Balls, flirt pole ect increase stimulation so they are for outdoors. Chews, kongs, and puzzle games are for indoors as they are calming toys
