I've Been playing for a long time and have played all kinds of great balls. Recently I found and played a noodle long and soft long and soft. It felt good and I played a the best game ever at this course. I bought a box and the next two rounds I had a eagle and was putting for two more. I was hitting the most straight and long shots, even with irons. I've got boxes of pro v, tp5 &x's, and vice balls but I will keep playing the noodles until things change. Maybe you should do a test with them vs. Other balls.

Yes but to get that nice "clicking" sound as it bounces down the street drawing attention from passersby........ahhh now that is lovely !

Yeah but I tend to hit the expensive ones out of bounds more than the cheap ones.

Totally agree. Feel when using cast clubs?! I’ve never had soft forged irons so wouldn’t know. I use Pro V1s……when I find them! Costco/ Kirkland have capitalised on the confusion out there. Most of us mere mortals don’t swing hard/ fast enough to trigger the aerodynamics of the top balls! Keep these reviews going please 😊

You don’t “trigger” aerodynamics. Aerodynamics are in play at all speeds due to there being an atmosphere.

I started playing the left dash for how well it does off driver. Gets less shape on my misses. Feels good on the irons when I hit it well. I recently was given some tp5 for free. Played a par 3 9 hole course. It felt amazing off the putter face. Shot even par which was my best round there. Now I wanna give the tp5 a chance on a 18

That's great golf! No harm in testing every now and then, sounds like you're doing the right thing staying consistent but also giving the ball a full test before deciding whether to make the change

I recently played with some TP5X’s which I won for getting a two and they feel really good compared to callaway supersofts. i had a pretty good round with one apart from fatting a few drives which is the one thing I definitely can’t blame the ball for as the mistake had already occurred before it had done anything 😂

Agree with all the points made. I used to concentrate on spin because I played on a course with tiny, by today's standards, greens that were like cement so stopping ability was a high priority. With the newest balls however I've discovered that I can achieve this by trajectory and less spin so I can choose a ball that gives me more distance because I'm not overly concerned about holding the green using spin control alone. The Titleist True Feel is good option over the the Pro V for my game. Just started exploring the Srixon lineup.

Enjoy your tests! It's the best way to find the right option for your game, Srixon have some good options too that tend to be pretty good value at every level of ball too

I’ve been playing Bridgestone Tour B x this season and it’s been fine but they do mark up more than a ProV or a TP5 in my experience. Find that I’ve chopped and changed so much over the last 5 years that I really don’t know what I want ! I know I want a premium ball just not which one. I’ve tried Pro v / TP5 / ZStar / Mizuno Tour / Wilson Staff Model. Not tried Callaway Tour Chrome but they’re too expensive for a ball as we come into winter … maybe next season.

It can be a complete minefield but everyone looks for something slightly different, so you're definitely doing the right thing by testing them all against your game

I was once told by a coach it matters absolutely zilch in winter cos any ball will stop immediately on the green anyway, which I can believe. I play with a bloke who always has great tricks for finding them. Find the slow-flowing part of a river where they all get washed up and collect. If there’s a bunker one side of a green and trees the other, look in there directly opposite the bunker to where the pin was, as people will have thinned them out the bunker and been too frustrated/rushed to go in the trees and find them. etc etc

Well played I like it 😂 your ball probably does matter less in the winter, especially in terms of stopping power. Do be a little careful as launch may still change with this which can effect distance and how you see shots etc, but no one likes losing expensive or new balls, especially in the winter, so I completely get why people make the change

I’m at least 5% longer with the Pro V left dash than I am with any other premium ball which makes club selections tricky. I hit my wedge on average around 140 meters and with the left dash I’m at least 10 meters longer which can be the difference of hitting and missing greens.

This is where consistency of ball can play such a big part. That extra distance is fantastic if you can count on it, but not so much if you're guessing. It doesn't matter whether you're looking at the premium end or at better value options, if you can find a ball you're happy to be consistent with then you're onto a winner

I am a beginner. Only been playing since May. I am a chepest only kind of guy. Once I break the 120's and stop losing 5-8 golf balls a game maybe I will change that. Nope. Just checked the bills. Cheapest will still be the way to go. Just like my second hand clubs.

For the average 90 shooter golfer it matters absolutely zilch. They’re gonna post a 90 with a range ball or any other ball.

Range balls are never going to be the one but staying consistent with any other golf ball from cheap to premium has its perks and will help any golfer
@sscully67
@sscully67 6 ай бұрын
@ryanu3708 I respectfully disagree. A ball with a urethane cover gives the average golfer better odds of holding a green on approach shots, thus improving the likelihood of improving score. If you don’t care about score, then sure, use any ball you want.

How come none of these golf ball reviews identify the compression rate? I prefer an 85 compression ball. See Lagato.
@GolfShopOnline
@GolfShopOnline 6 ай бұрын
You can look at compression and there is can be a general correlation with compression and feel, but you can still get different feeling balls at different compressions. It is also a very big minefield to enter for something that as such a seemingly small impact on performance without robot testing with so many shots to see a discrepancy

Everyday golfers range balls is good enough , you know when to use better balls😃
@GolfShopOnline

Range balls are generally reduced distance balls designed to give you an idea on flight but not go as far for safety and to make life easier for collections etc. They're also property of the range who would be within their right to ban you from the course if you're caught with them anywhere but the range so be careful going down this route, there are plenty of super cheap genuine alternatives that are better options

😂😂as it matters to a normal golfer it’s a selling gimmick. High handicappers who buy pro v 1’s are clowns

No golfer needs to buy premium golf balls. Yes, any golfer will see performance benefits if they fit in your budget, but this definitely isn't always worth it if you're losing a few too many. Finding a ball at a price and performance level that you're happy to stay consistent with, whatever that may be, is much more important
