I moved away from the Chicago area over 30 years ago. I'm simply floored at how much these homes are going for in Chicago. The homes she renovates looked like tear downs when I was a kid. I Never thought they would ever be worth so much money years later.

I love Allison Victoria her designs are filled with historical charm filled with her heart & her love of her home Chicago. I loved her in Kitchen Crashers on HGTV. Windy City Rehab is her baby her love for what she does shows in her work. My heart broke at this seasons show, Alisons pain in finding out that Donovan was cheating her & their business. I thank you for showing that process I felt like it was happening to me. I cry as Alison cried, hell I cried when Alison didn’t just to find out someone that you trusted has betrayed you and caused the pain that Donovan did. My prayers are with you Alison. I watch it because I love the results and seeing all things Chicago. She keeps saying she is the designer, yet she invested her money. she should have been involved in examining the books, looking at the payouts, and attending the OAC meetings. I’m sorry for what Donovan did to her which was very unethical but she does create a lot of her own problems. She has good designs but her business sense, when it comes to budgets and schedules is sometimes lacking. Would you invest in any of her projects?

I’ve watched some of the episodes and quickly decided the contractor has no clue about estimates or construction. Every expensive screw up falls on him for not supervising the construction.

According to buildings department records, “Windy City Rehab” projects violated city code by: Working without permits at 11 different properties. Working beyond the scope of pulled permits at 11 properties. Failure to comply with safety codes related to issues such as electrical wiring. In early April, two different electrical code violations were issued at one property. Failure to contact the city to obtain certificates of occupancy at two different properties. Hiring workers who are not licensed, certified or registered by the city at 11 properties. Lying on a permit application at 11 properties. Failure to correct a substantial “defect, error or deficiency” at one property. Performing work that poses an “immediate or imminent threat” to the safety of workers or the public at 11 properties. This list is extensive. For Alison to go on TV and cry crocodile tears that she didn't know wreaks disingenuous to me. According to Alison she is "just the designer." She is just the designer visiting every property and she is not aware that she and Donovan hired workers who were not licensed and certified? Hogwash. Both Alison and Donovan were cutting corners to maximize profits and she knew what she was doing. Since Alison's name is tied to the LLC she is responsible for knowing. I don't doubt Donovan stole money but how could he steal over $800,000 and Alison not know about it? "He's the finance guy and I'm the designer" isn't going to cut it. Now that the owners from previous properties are suing Alison & Donovan for shoddy construction is again the fault of both. Alison was working without permits at 11 different properties. She can't feign naiveté. Alison was a willing a culpable party to the infractions. Alison and Donovan were penny wise but pound foolish and they got caught. Still, I hope that Alison will learn from her mistakes and that those workers whom have not gotten paid will be well compensated. I know that because Alisons name is on the LLC she is responsible for all of the problems it was Donovan that they don’t want on the jobs. It was Donovan’s crew how would Alison know they were hired illegally. Alison was paying yo complete these buildings she was paying contractors that had not been paid with her credit cards and her savings Donovan wasn’t answering the phone after stealing the money 💰 the buildings had to either be sold lot completed. I pray for the best her brand is effected I can see how he Donovan or anyone could do this and she not know if all she did was design if Alison wasn’t there in the sages of development to make sure the work was done I can see how she wouldn’t know. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt it must be hard having your partner that you trusted let you down then you are held responsible to pick up the pieces Alison will take care of those homeowners that work wasn’t done correctly she will pay the contractor she will win.

The new "general contractor" Ermin Pajazetovic seems like a nice guy but is he licensed? Alison just revealed that Donovan's last 20 properties never passed the building department's final inspection. Alison either turned a blind eye or didn't care. Why would you enter into a LLC with someone and not do your homework? At least Donovan put his tail between his legs and ran when he was caught red-handed. Alison's infractions are minor compared to the infractions by other celebrities. She will rise from the ashes and a couple of years from now people won't care. As long as she is a cash cow for HGTV they won't care either.

Being in this business, I have to say that this is one of the most REALISTIC approaches to a "flip" show that exists. In fact, it isn't a "flip" show. These projects all take +6 months to complete. All permitted, her numbers are very accurate. A "flip" would consist of a project that would be turned over in under 90 -120 days. Allison spends big time money for these projects. This show and "Restored" are the best of the bunch.

For one thing they never tell you that in most jurisdictions record you need a permit Before you do any work on a Property And Depending on where in this country that you're trying to do this work on this house it could take up to 6 months to year to get permits Prior to doing eating work on any property as you look at when it was built and if it was built like say in the sixties it should be tested for aspestos and lead paint it should also be tested for mold

Damnation! Why can't there be ONE HGTV reno show that ISN'T a scam!? I was all geared up to start watching the episodes due to the Chicago nostalgia vibe, & then I find THIS out. Who knows what the complete truth is? But HGTV (and Alison) have done a real hatchet job on Donovan in this new season. So we know who HGTV has thrown in with. I still enjoy the projects and episodes but portions of the recent episodes have made me cringe in just how completely negatively he’s being portrayed. Maybe it’s called for, but it’s clear HGTV doesn’t want to lose a popular show.

Windy City Rehab- Allison’s designs are okay. But She falls in love with expensive design elements without regard to budget and schedule. If you want to view an ego-driven soap opera tune in. But her lack of good business sense should turn off many viewers and certainly any investor who wants to avoid losing money and getting involved in a possible law suit.

Thats what makes the show so great all the permit problems liberal cities create to squeeze more money out of the Designer , Developers and General contractors NYC is Even More Horrible they take you to Court fines start in the 2 thousands range and go through the roof and Sanitation Fines and this fine and that fine. They (NYC Sanitation Dept) Come make sure you are looking at you they point to the ground and give you a ticket then you have to spend days weeks fighting the ticket in court it's lots of fun But I love Alison Victoria's show Its Hip And Modern with Flashes of Old Timey architectural pieces which make it look Amazing. I do Not think all was revealed with Eckhart, It got out of control yes, but they should have gotten a lawyer to deal with the city and an accountant to actually do the paperwork And as a reno guy lots of times you end up paying to finish the job you actually lose money and it's alway because you did not price it high enough. Do Not get into this business unless you have deep pockets, you will end up losing the project

Allison your show is about remodeling and rehanbing buildings not about ranting about your personal issues! Its a given when you deal with people whether un business remodeling you encounter problems setbacks and challenges! You talk mote than you do construction. We want to see more remodeling than talking . Donovan did you this or thay is between tou and him not us.we pay to watch a show not to deal with a therapist.keep your personal issues with Donoban or whomevwr pribaye! Her designs are disgusting (is it a rule that every piece of wood in Chicago must be painted black?) but I respect the fact that "Windy City Rehab" is about as real as it gets by Discovery standards. She had a falling out with the guy. She put it on the show. She had a nervous breakdown on camera. She put it on the show. She bombed a flip and lost tens of thousands. She put it on the show. It's a refreshing change of pace from the usual fake crap on HGTV with the obvious plants chanting "I love it!" a thousand times as they oooh and aaah over the tacky chinese-made Wayfair junk.

Being in this business, I have to say that this is one of the most REALISTIC approaches to a "flip" show that exists. In fact, it isn't a "flip" show. These projects all take +6 months to complete. All permitted, her numbers are very accurate. A "flip" would consist of a project that would be turned over in under 90 -120 days. Allison spends big time money for these projects. This show and "Restored" are the best of the bunch.

A show like flip or flop Nashville isn't flipping historic homes though so their timelines will be different. The Nashville guys give themselves about 3 months to finish projects which is accurate.

I would argue it is not a very good business - I was watching this - and the numbers do not make sense - WAAAAY too much outlay /risk for the return . As you say it looks to me like any of these renos take 6-10 months to complete - that is a long time - carrying a lot of money for the return they are even hoping to make . as far as permitted - obviously you were wrong about that - she might have thought they were but obviously her partner had other ideas - if you are saying she is not in this just for the money = then I agree with you - that is obvious .
