Itachi wasn't hired to kill his entire clan, it was a mission. Which he accepted because there's no other way. Danzo and the councilors gave him the mission. The third hokage, hiruzen sarutobi is the only one against it.

Think about it. If Itachi had killed only the adults involved in the plot, leaving alive children and/or people who were not involved in the plot, there would have been the possibility that the survivors would harbor hatred towards the village and try to conquer it again. The Uchiha are very particular individuals (I can't tell you more otherwise it would be a spoiler), unfortunately he had to act like this.

The story that deserves a live action series is definitely Itachi's, although Sasuke decided to do what Itachi didn't want, which is for Sasuke to turn against Hiddrn Leaf. By the way, the moment when Madara starts talking about history is an epic moment and I feel so much excitement when the music "Screaming God" starts playing in the background. PS: Sasuke finally awakened his Mangekyou when he was standing on that cliff looking at the Hawk on the sky cuz Taka is a Hawk and Hebi is a Snake.
