would love if you found someone from the Vines to chat to. They were an amazing band in the 00s, massive at one point. And there’s virtually no recent info about them or songwriter Craig out there. He battled with mental health throughout so i often wonder how he’s doing these days

Can you imagine? Not a massive Razorlight fan but what a supergroup that would have been!

Crickey, Razorlights Up All Night hasn’t aged well. They’re the only one. It might be that it hasn’t re-clicked with me yet, but it sounds like nothing at all now. They were my second favourite band once. The Kills, the Strokes, the Libertines, Jet, the Parisians, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Shins, the White Stripes all stood the test of time.

Never been the biggest Razorlight fan but still think that album has some bangers on it. Would rather listen to stumble and fall than alot of Libertines songs tbh but maybe that's because i played them so much back in the day.

Up-date. It was just that it hadn’t re-clicked with me. I’ve changed my mind.

Razorlight is an appropriate moniker - a "light" sounding band with a commercial mission. A pop indie band for girls with big, misguided ambitions. The Libertines were an indie punk band. Sure, they had some catchy tunes but the debut was produced by original punk Mick Jones of the Clash. Razorlight were fake punks. A bit like Borrell who insisted on calling himseld "Bor-rell" to make him sound cool. Maybe it's no different from Carlos "Bar-rat" though 😅

Truth be told! It woulda never fit with him in the band. Respect his honesty. Pete’s vision! Funny how to this day them & The Strokes don’t get along…not even one photo together ever!

I'm glad Borrell wasn't in the Libertines; something about it just doesn't feel right, a bit like when I learned that the Clash and the Pistols considered swapping Mick Jones and Steve Jones. I think they've got a great dynamic. I know everyone seems to hate Borrell and Razorlight these days, but I still think Up All Night is a great album. Borrell was just a bit of a dick back in the day, is all. But then weren't we all? I know I was.

They weren’t really ever seen as a serious band though? Even NME used to ridicule them. He was always desperate to appear as some kind of visionary when really they felt almost as phoney as the Kooks

I know what you mean but they were a big deal at some point and that first album is pretty great on reflection.

Maybe my memory is wrong, but I always remember NME kinda worshipping Razorlight, which annoyed me because I found Borrell insufferable. They certainly got better treatment than Black Rebel Motorcycle club who got completely slated at every opportunity lol
