For some reason I want to know how much he made off his signature Fender guitar deal. Must be a very nice feeling to know you've got your own model.

To add an Irish context to this, the 'Late Late Show' was the flagship weekend show in Ireland and a guaranteed viewing draw on a friday night. Pat Kenny got the spot after Gay Byrne retired. Kenny got the position not because he was the best person for the job but because in true Irish Boys club style he was the prince in waiting at the national broadcater. He is a reasonably middling and passable political analyst and he has as we say in Ireland, 'The Neck'. The show never recovered after he presented it. He is cold. All that is whatever it is but when he directs that coldness into hurting such a creative and honest person like Pete Doherty, Kenny needs a pulling up on it. Pete was a very strong gentleman in this interview to hold his dignity and patience, the bigger man for sure. 👍👍

Once went to see the Fratellis the week creeping up the backstairs came out way before they had any other tunes out and they played that twice. Only went cause the NME championed them the new libertines and they were god awful never listened to them again . Think the NME championed every new band as the new libertines tho.
@22grandpod4 күн бұрын
Did they really hail them as the new Libertines? Wow.

Went to see Ordinary Boys back in the day and they played the gig then went off at the end. Everyone was shouting "one more tune" so they came out and Preston said "we've played all our songs, what do you want to hear again?" So people threw a couple of names out and they played a load of songs again!

Have to nit pick re Editors, one of my fave bands. They weren't copying Interpol as both bands arrived at almost exactly the same time and both had a lot of the same influences. Also Editors are now an absolutely massive stadium-headlining band across Europe, particularly in the Netherlands for some reason!
@22grandpod7 күн бұрын
Yeah I wouldn't say they were copying tbf. Hence not putting them in Landfill.

That voice of hers is awesome. So distinct. "Staying up drinking whiskey playing Beatles songs", class. I guess this was around '95, different world. I remember hating the 90s, but at least things happened back then. These days the only thing that happens is "everything", which is overwhelmingly boring.
