I modified my original RP-600Ms by changing the tweeter cap from 3.9uF to 10uF which eliminates the dip at about 1.5KHz. I also changed the resistor from 9.1 ohms to 13 ohms which lowers the treble by about 2.5 db. These changes are easy and inexpensive, depending on the type of cap you use. I recently purchase the RP-600Mii and I like the sound of my modified original RP-600Ms better. Punchier bass and more balanced.

I would love to see a review and measurements on the RP-504C II, especially since I still can't find anything on the first version either... I have a 5.2.2 RP-8000F, RP-504C, RP502S, Prime Elevation, 2x SB-3000's, setup run by a Marantz AVR currently. I think I'd be most interested in the difference for the new center channel first, in hopes that it would make voices and everything else sound even more natural, and hopefully even improve the dispersion and response a bit... I would even be willing to possibly front the cost to buy and ship it from Audio Advice or somewhere similar just to have it measured and reviewed for the internet to see. 🍻

Hey Erin ever thought of doing something like top 10 in ear room response speakers on your site ? So we could easily sort the cream from the crop. Or maybe something like a graph comparison tool, where we could compare different speaker measurements directly on the site ? If you keep going at this rate, there is soon gonna come a time, when there will simply be too many speakers to go through on the site, to find that good one with great all around measurments. Or maybe some sort of scoring system, i don't know. An active and passive category for loudspeakers and subwoofer would really come in handy too. As always, prefer your reviews over others due to the substances (measurements) you provide. Klipsch stated that they made voice coil for woofer 60% bigger. It also looks from your side by side picture the new woofer cone is slightly bigger. Both Robinson and Guttenberg both praised v2. Dynamics is the major attribute that both of them praised for both v1 and v2, is that a characteristics that Klipsch has over other speakers? Robinson also provided a FR curve for his v2 assessment without any explanation. Guttenberg is a good salesman, his praise for v1 helped Klipsch sold more v1. Klipsch may send him v2 for review.
@RennieAsh2 жыл бұрын
I think the woofer appears larger because the chamfer which starts at the top of the cabinet now extends all the way to the bottom on V2, where on V1 it fades out to a sharp edge. They do this because the new waveguide is larger, and having the old V1 design would look messy
@swllz2 жыл бұрын
According to Erin's measurements of THD, v2 is 8 db cleaner that v1 at 500 to 600hz region when playing at 86 and 96 db loudness, that's an improvement of woofer, even if not every one can hear it.
@veeclash41572 жыл бұрын

Is it normal to enjoy v-shaped frequency response? ASR claims that people enjoy a flat response the most. Now I have tried flat speakers, but if I EQ down 500hz to about 1500-2000 down a bit and boost the highs and lows a bit i I get a sense of clarity and higher realism. I never set out to boost the frequencies like that, it just ended up doing that by trial and error knowing little about speakers. When I hear speakers like RP-600M, i tend to enjoy them immediatley, I looked up the frequency response after having listened and low and behold it didjnt have a flat EQ, it has lower values where I usually lower the frequencies on flat speakers and boosted highs... Not sure what to think... Although bright and they will hurt my ears, I can EQ the highs off when I need that...
@joesabato97362 жыл бұрын
Good review, the better linearity was noted in other reviews, so you are on the same page in that regard. Previous reviews I saw on the 500 with measurements said it did not have the dip that the 600 and others in the series 1 had; it was the most linear out of the box, FYI. The RP600 and the predecessor RP160 were wildly popular, not sure the 5" version was anywhere close.

The main improvement of the larger horn provides better control down lower than the smaller horn. The smaller horn to flat baffle to box edge is a more gradual change to the side box walls than the vii which jumps right from horn to box side walls.
@IliyaOsnovikov2 жыл бұрын
Erin, I wouldn't say that distortion is pretty much the same. The newer model has significantly lower distortion thru the most of a woofer range. For example, at 600 Hz the first speaker has THD about -35 dB, but the second has about 10 dB lower distortion at that frequency.
@ErinsAudioCorner2 жыл бұрын
They’re not exactly miles apart here, though. And overall, they’re similar enough for it not to be a deciding factor.

Nice review. I did watch Andrews review and from what I remember he made it sound like the treble was more subdued than it appears in the data, think he's more referring to that 7khz region. He liked the speaker a lot more than the v1. His reviews have the chapter markers so you could just watch the part relating the sound which appears to be only about 5 minutes. Enjoyed a lot of the different data that you provided for this. Is it possible you could include multiple estimated in room responses for more speakers in the future as 0, 15, 30 I think would be very interesting to see. Also I'd rather see their center channels measured over the smaller bookshelf. So my vote would be rp600c v2 and rp500c v2 over rp500m v1 and rp500m be. Waveguide/horn mtm centers are kinda of the gray area from your center channel video (which was excellent) so more data and that I think would be helpful for the community moreso than seeing the 5" bookshelf.

-BEST Technical Presentation as Yet on the Klipsch 600M II. You confirmed Technically what we "thought" was going on with the 600M's. The response is essentially more "FLAT", No Dip where the Tweeter Takes Over --- essentially it's a True Main Speaker and the Broader 'Horn" makes the Higher Freq's less Directional in a Room. We happen to like that --- Klipsch HORNS are Great Tweeters, bit on Bright Side, However, WHEN WE SEE A C-8 NOTE (4800 HZ) ON A PIANO...WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR, THUNK! i HAVE 19 YEAR OLD KLIPSCH MAINS WITH HORN TWEETERS, AND WOULDN'T GO ANY OTHER WAY. AND I love that they're "Broadened The Room Acoustics" with RP-600M'S, made the Highs less directional. Thinking of an Upgrade...It's time.

Hi, I bought RP-600M about 5 years ago. Last week I was blasting some house music really loud through a cambridge audio streamer. My listening room is small square, as in 12ft x 12ft. I sit 7.5ft away from the speakers in a couch. The speakers are on a tv stand 2.5ft apart from eachother and 4.5" away from the wall. The Left cabinet woofer is dead. Tweeter is working. I removed the woofer to see the cone is almost separated and when I push it in and out I hear grinding/scratchy sound. I also noted after taking off the grill, there are dimples on the gold coloured centre area of the woofer. I am very sad to see this happen and seek your advice. My hifi setup is fairly a complex one. I have 3 dbx sound processors going into a Hitachi preamp which goes to a NAD 2200 Envelope Power Amp. With the help of a switch, I also can toggle between the NAD amp and a Marantz 250M power amp. What I think I've done is while engaging and disengaging different bass boost settings in the 3 dbx sound processors, I've put too much load onbthe speakers. I am not a techy guy, just assuming. Would you recommend I buy RP-600M II and just be careful before boasting frequencies while volume is loud or search for a new replacement woofer. Appreciate if you could kindly give me some direction. Loved watching your video. Thanks.

@BastianUllr2 жыл бұрын
I’m big fan of dual concentric and I’ve had Kef, Tannoy, Fyne, and Technics. I still have concentrics and regular. Why? Because I can haha, but concentrics have a really nice imaging accuracy. Even at low volumes. They shine if you have to sit close to them. If you sit far, they are much more alike other speakers as long as it’s well designed for dispersion between tweeter and woofer. It’s not a must, but it’s nice. I still have a dual concentric. Concentrics have a nice dispersion pattern, but directivity changes with design and that alters the Interaction with the room, which alters the psychoacoustic perception, which alters the imaging perception. It depends of what room you have and what would work best in your room.

So would the sensitivity ratings from Klipsch be more accurate when crossing these over at 80 hz with a subwoofer? If more bass is being ran through a smaller driver would that change if your not even running those lows to the speaker.

which do you think is better, these or the Dali Oberon3?

Well done. Looks like a worthy contender in its price range especially for home theater.

I just picked up the Klipsch RP- 160M speakers for $199.99 which look exactly like the version one of these speakers do you think the RP-600M version 2 is a big jump from the 160M? Both have the exact same drivers.

Amazing review! You said you will provudr the EQ curve for the V2, would it be possible to provide for the V1 as well?

I always feel bad for the companies that are honest in their specs because I'm sure they lose a lot of sales to companies that make up specs. With these actually being at 85-86dB how many real 89dB speakers aren't even considered when people are looking for efficient speakers?

Great review, as always. How long burn in with the MK2, before the test? Could you let the speakers play for 3-400 hours and then measure again? Interesting to see what changes.
@Azzy_Mazzy2 жыл бұрын
Actually its recommended to let the speakers play for three years before truly giving them a review

To be honest, the only thing burning in is woofers and the difference is small. Maybe it goes 1-2hz lower but that's hard to notice

@@FSXgta Might be so little, but don’t forget the crossover parts. If they use quality parts.

How do you think the rp600m would pair with an old marantz 2218?
@jasong5462 жыл бұрын
All I know is I am listening to the newest Chris Stapleton vinyl album on the m’s and it’s glorious. I don’t know why I would possibly need to upgrade because they sound fantastic.

Hey, by towing out do you mean 0 degrees points at my face or 0 degrees is perpendicular to the front wall?
@ErinsAudioCorner2 жыл бұрын
0 degrees is on-axis; the speaker facing directly at you. The speaker facing out into the room (not cross-firing across the side of the room) is what I mean when I say "toe-out". :)

Another great review! Again, your listening impressions of the first version mirror my own... lending great confidence that your impressions of V2 also will. And, GSD's are the best! I love mine too! 😍👍☺️
