No Tippy Tappy Football

Күн бұрын

Former Carlisle, Southampton, Leicester, Hull, Derby, Watford & Bristol City manager, Nigel Pearson is our special guest on No Tippy Tappy Football.
Nigel Pearson sits down alongside Sam Allardyce & Natalie Pike to discuss his fantastic football career as both a player and a manager from the early days at Sheffield Wednesday to most recently at Bristol City.
The former Bristol City manager opens up on his time at the club, the huge potential his former players Alex Scott & Antoine Semenyo have and also why his Bristol City exit was so out of the blue.
Nigel and Sam also chat about confidentiality clauses in football, the recent VAR controversy and why it's an incredible shame if the FA remove Cup replays.
They then talk in depth about why the Championship is the most underrated league in the world, which teams will beat the drop & why Jamie Vardy is a breath of fresh air for staying true to who he is.
Finally Nigel openly talks about his life threatening encounter in Romania when he was savagely attacked by a pack of dogs whilst out on a hike in the wilderness.
All of this and more in the latest episode of the No Tippy Tappy Football series, brought to you by William Hill.

Very much sounds like how we (majority of Bristol City supporters) believed it had happened & didn’t sit well with the majority of us!! The club haven’t come out of this looking particularly good in my opinion. I didn’t agree with how they went about things at the time & this hasn’t help change that opinion. I find it amazing that off the back of the European Super League & clubs coming out to say that they are nothing without fans & then the pandemic where the same babble was wheeled out to then have it announced that it’s my money, it’s my club!! Well you can have your club, it’s clearly nothing to do with the fans anymore Mr Lansdown.

Top man Nige and I for one was sorry to see him leave. As he says, success means different things but his mandate was clear. Reduce the wage bill, reduce the squad and work with academy players…some of which were not ready. He done it all VERY well and has laid a solid foundation for us to move forward.

As a full blown Blade, I really do like Nigel Pearson, I dont think he will get on in todays football, because I get the impression he is not a lick arse, & won't tolerate Big Shots in a dressing room. This is why I like him. Again maybe I am wrong , but I feel he's old School regards Principles & how players should conduct themselves etc etc etc. I watched him as a player at Hillsbro, again a no nonsense type of player (as it was in them days). Dont feel he would have lasted 2 minutes at Hillsbro as gaffer, he'd have upset too many, but I do genuinely believe he is a good Football Manager, Good Luck Nigel.

You're a top man Nige. Thank you for all the work you've done at BCFC, the last few years. Liam will reap those rewards, of course, but a good percentage of those will be yours. Hope you get back into football management as soon as you feel ready to do so! All the best.

Top bloke is Nige. Always gave us the thumbs up and asked us how we were when we were working up at Bristol City training ground. I think he was just about turning us into a good side. All the best for the future 👍 One thing I’d like to add is the fact that Nige said he was a manager and not a coach. Seems strange, because quite a few of our players improved massively under his management. The players he brought in have improved as well.

Nigel Pearson laid the foundations of Leicester's Premiership winning season. He and Shakespeare did so much to build up the coaching side, the sports science, the physio and the quality of the squad. Ranieri did the wisest thing and let them run without changing anything. Wonderful times.

Carlisle fan. Never forget walking out of the paddock looking round the ground that had seen the team draw 3-3 with Roma, and beat Spurs to go top of the 1st division 25 years previous, and thinking it was non league ahead, then going apeshit when Jimmy Glass scored. Couldnt believe it when Knighton sold Tony Caig the only keeper for a derisory fee but the rest is history. Nigel Pearson was treated shabbily really and the following season, the team had another narrow escape though less dramatically.

Atkinson had gone when Wednesday were in the upper reaches of the Premier League. He left to go to Aston Villa at the end of the promotion season 1992/93 (having said there was no way he would - so managers aren't always saints, eh?!). Allardyce knows nothing about the Darren Moore situation so should keep his opinions to himself. IF it's true Moore insisted on a three year contract and massive wage rise (which he has never denied) then the Chairman had no option.
