Dear you are not alone. I am an introvert, love my space, peace and quiet but never lonely. I enjoy it so much, people don't really understand or get why, even as a child, I often prefer to be alone. I am never bored as 24hrs is too short for me, I read, write, pray, eat, work , go on adventures and outdoor activites( which people that knows me think it is crazy), and I sleep. I live a contented and simple life and I am happy.

I am a 58 yr old divorced and single grandmother who came across your videos researching minimal lifestyles. On one video you talk about being vegan and the answer why was watching the film Cowspiracy. I was curious and that led to watching Cowspiracy, Earthlings etc. Because of you I am a proud vegan! You are a very intelligent, beautiful, young, and sensitive soul. This time in your life is only a chapter but the lessons and experience gained will benefit the rest of life as you become a wife, mother, and grandmother. It may be hard to see that right now but just wait! Doors will open when you least expect it and good quality people will enter them. 💕

I grew up with a sister close in age to me and many female cousins. In my teens, 20s and even now, when I am around them I feel distant, annoyed and starved emotionally and intelluctually. I am left feeling exhausted in their company. Sounds sort of mean, but when I am finally by myself I feel recharged. Healthier to be alone than spend too much time in the wrong company, even if it's familly!! 😄 And don't feel ashamed or guilty for feeling it!

Hi Kyra - I lived alone for 12 years, then got married and lived with my wife for 5 years, and then got divorced. That's when it got interesting, because I found myself falling back into habits that I had in my 20's. I actually had a live-in roommate for about a year after my divorce, but it wasn't a great situation. Now I'm back to living alone - it's been 2 years, and I kind of like it. I do get lonely and paranoid and messy, but I'm self sufficient and I know that I can take care of issues when they arise. I think that the forced independence has made me a stronger person. I do wish there was a support group for people who live alone ;-).

You are responsible and my advise would be in your next move to get a place that includes all utilities in the rent so you do not have to pay too many bills. If they accept pets it would be great so you can have a companion. Start affirming that you are safe as you get used to keep the place secure. It is normal to talk to yourself, I have the best conversations with myself. Everything is going to be ok with you and soon you will have your own family and not feel alone.

I just found your channel and can relate to SO many things!! I'm a minimalist too but have been a long time before it really had a name. And like you, friends are limited. Just based on lifestyle, etc. It's hard for a lot of people to understand living a certain way coupled with also being a bit of a loner, or introvert. It's so encouraging to find other people who are so similar so thanks for putting a little bit of your life out there, you're NOT alone! And as someone who started that kind of minimalist thinking and lifestyle a long time ago, those habits are awesome to have even as you have more money. So glad to "meet" you!

Wow! Fate brought me here to watch this video. I totally relate to everything you said about living alone. I live with Roomate but my house is soooo quiet you hardly run into the Roomate’s where I freak out at night with every little noise. It’s so true what you mentioned about having control of who comes in and out of your house. I realized the other day that girls from school I thought were my friends just came over to my dorm to get ready, just using me because I live close to campus. I realized I have the choice of letting them come here, so I said no more. Those people aren’t real friends and honestly prefer to be a loner than to have fake friends. Living alone is just part of adulthood, maturing, and realizing what is good for you.

This video is a perfect explanation of living alone!! And yes my biggest fear is if something would happen and no one would know or if I am sick and needed medical attention but there's no one around to help (such as what if your blood sugar drops and you have no one to run get something sweet to eat FAST or choking) that is a major reason I hated living alone. I rarely ever had people over so the house just felt like a house not a home, but when someone would come over it did feel warm and like a home. I for sure aren't meant to live alone. I moved in with my boyfriend a few months ago.. shewww living alone is over!! Great video, lady!

Living alone can be nice because you don't have to rely on horrible roommates who don't pay bills on time and make a mess. I once lived with a roommate who supposedly forgot to pay the electric bill she was responsible for and our power got shut off! As for friends, I have gone through periods when I didn't really have any friends because there was just no one i clicked with, or I outgrew my friends, but these periods don't last forever. I have never seen any of your videos until today. You probably popped up because I had recently viewed a couple of videos on minimalism. I just wanted to let you know how much this video connected with me. Just today I was thinking how I have been alone most of my life and started crying thinking of it. I am a 67 year- old woman who never thought I would wind up spending my life living alone, Also, I have had to return to work part- time at a low paying job because my Social Security is not enough to live on. Maybe I was supposed to see your video, but I can so much relate to what you experience although I am so much older, You seem so much like an old soul and so very sweet. In your case, this is just a temporary state. Sometimes, living alone can be peaceful and great, but humans were not made to live alone all the time. I do have my faith, so I know I am not really alone, but I do get lonely at times.

Another good point about controlling your place is never feel obligated to open the door when someone knocks unexpectedly. Do not worry about being considered rude. I never opened the Door to strangers, I just hollar through the door "Can I help you" and then "No Thank You " all without ever compromising my safety. if it was ever a real emergency, I would tell them " I will call the police for you" & then do so.

Hey Kyra! Thanks for the video, and I must say I completely understand what you said about being alone, it's not as bad as it may sound, but it's real. And honestly it's normal to feel like that when living alone. I found out that for me loneliness comes in cycles and feels slightly different every time it comes. Having friends that completely resonate with us and our lifestyle isn't the easiest thing, but it doesn't mean they don't exist; I'd love to have a friend like you! 🖤 Oh, and congrats on the channel, you're going to be big on here 😊 xx

Hi Kyra. I can identify with you. It is a blessing as even though I live alone I enjoy my own company tremendously and though I have much older friends as many as are the days of the week I am my very own best friend. For me the scariest part about living alone are the hurricanes. I trust God to take care of me though and He never fails. Stay safe. You are wise in being slow to form friendships as a good friend is very hard to find. Not everyone who says they’re your friend is a true friend.
@Chariots19816 жыл бұрын
Being freaked out by random noises in the middle of the night, fear of dying and no one noticing until they smell something (kind of reminded me of Bridget Jones' Diary)... many of us can relate to that. But as you said, being able to control those that come into your space is wonderful and having lots of random people around can be both tiring and annoying. Being alone makes you responsible for everything so it can be tough but it has its rewards in abundance. Really enjoying your frankness about these things.

I really appreciate this video especially the part about being a loner, you have absolutely described me. Also you, Matt D’Avella and Hueguh have inspired me to pursue a minimalist life style. Thank you for your videos I look forward to the next.

I live alone too, and I love it, but I'm lucky enough to live in the same city as my family. If I get lonely I just bug them xD As for the door locking thing, here's a trick that works for me: say the day of the week when you lock your door. It changes often enough, so it's unique enough to remember you did it.

I live alone and live a minimalist lifestyle too. Am an introvert, an autodidact WITHOUT a degree, with a lot of solo intellectual and creative pursuits. I love it! I'm a bit of a nurturer around other people... and when I've lived with others - I tend to look out for everybody. Honestly I LOVE people but it CAN be time and energy consuming and sometimes - oftentimes - I'm the only person looking out for everyone while others are just looking out for themselves but it doesn't stop me from taking everyone into consideration. What it does stop me from doing is being able to feel peace and safety in my home without it taking TONS of work mediating others' inconsiderate, discompassionate behavior. 😮 I know so many people with college degrees and in the hundred of thousands (or close) in debt and STILL working minimum wage jobs (often several to the detriment to their health) due to the economy and their field of study being incompatable with what they can actually do with it in the real world. These days entrepreneurship and side hustles, continuual self improvement and investment, and creative minimalist budgeting is often the less debt inducing, more freeing way to go. 👍 It's definitely not easy, but some of the best things in life are not. 😉😊 Go you!

Hi Kyra. What you shared about being alone really resonated with me. I'm an extrovert when I'm out and about in social settings and an introvert when I'm home alone. At first I was afraid to live alone and found myself feeling sad and depressed at times - yearning for company. After living alone for a few years now, I am slowly adjusting to living solo. During this time, I have experimented with creating routines and habits for myself that keep me motivated during my day to day. Also, I have manifested new friendships that align with my lifestyle and values. Life is a wonderful mystery and roller coaster ride. Btw, I would totally be friends with you!!

I completely relate to being a total loner haha ; Although “being alone is better than being surrounded by bad company” I absolutely love being alone sometimes, it definitely allows me to recharge my energy 🤣.... l watched your minimalism videos and I was hooked, keep up the great work girlie. btw totally unrelated but have you had any trouble with your plants rotting from being improperly potted? I purchased a small air-plant and wasn’t aware that it wasn’t potted correctly... I have no idea how, or if I can save it,or if I’ll just have to throw the babies away 😭 Lots of love and good vibes 🤙

You may be alone/a loner (same here), but you are not alone! Thank you for being aware enough to know yourself that well to make such a conscious choice at this stage in your life. That's an awesome quality and it's such a great contribution to the world!! Loneliness and most things in life are temporary, and happy or not is always a state of mind. Keep saying "no" to be a people-pleaser! You are doing great!

@@lisa9867 definately depends on your lifestyle..someone working full time in a small apartment might not be able to give a dog the attention it needs. In that case cats are best! Saying that, my dog is my best friend😊 and though living alone can be lonely at times ive never felt alone with her and shes a great alarm system..even if its a skunk at 3am

hey there. I can totally understand you. My friends and family are just an hour away but I do get lonely sometimes. As a person who suffered from panic attacks in the past I often get terrified to die and nobody would find me. I feel you. I try to do not think about it and be in public as much as I can. Love from germany.

Hi Kyra. I understand everything you are saying here. I lived alone my whole adult life until I got married at age 37 - and I loved it! I still get a lot of alone time at home due to my husband's work schedule. I too am a loner, and I see nothing wrong with that. I would rather spend time by myself reading, learning a new skill, enjoying my hobbies, or just thinking my own thoughts than be around people I don't have a lot in common with. It can be very difficult as an adult to find quality friends who share your interests, especially if you don't follow a mainstream, conventional, consumption-driven lifestyle. I am thankful that through youtube I have been able to "meet" kindred spirits such as yourself, so that I do not feel so alone in my lifestyle choices. You are a real sweetheart with a great head on your shoulders, and those who know you are lucky to have you in their lives!

Put 2 peices of tape with colored marks on it on the door frame. Then when the door is locked is is green (locked and safe), when unlocked it is red (not safe). That way you don't have to walk all the way to the door to check.

I’m totally inspired by you. This is the second video of yours that I’ve seen. I used to live alone and I loved it. Now my husband has moved in (we have spent the last 7 years of our 8 year marriage living apart because the law kept us on a no contact status...we got in trouble together about 8 years ago, right after we got married.) so I no longer live alone but I did for so many years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep up the great work! It sounds as though it took you a little bit to “grow up” and you’ve done a great job! Now all you gotta do is throw away your TV and buy some books and reprioritize your time. Hugs! You’ve got a friend here in Idaho!

You might check into self-defense classes. In Massachusetts, I bet there are inexpensive or free programs. If you have trouble, you might contact your local police department to see if they can point you to some. This may help to alleviate your fears if you know how to defend yourself.

I work from home and lost friends and family due to making more money each year. I feel better being by myself and learning about myself without negative influences. I used to pay for everyone when I wanted to do something or simply going out to eat (I eat all my meals alone). I know the friends i will acquire in the future are going to be just as awesome as i am. I now save my money to travel and do things i enjoy without the baggage 🙂 continue being you and others will follow!
