London is just too expensive. You get practically nothing for you money. Services are poor. Your money goes twice or three times as far in other parts of the UK.

I moved to london to start my career, i think London is a great place to start your career there are more opportunities in different industries. However once established in my career i have noticed there are more options around the UK with honestly, often not a huge difference in salary. I moved to Manchester two years ago, and have an amazing job with a salary only around 5% less than in London, a really nice small apartment instead of apartment share with mould and a dodger landlord and everything i could need and want at a walking distance, I also noticed that whilst its great to live in a city like London or New York, it has everything, but how often can you afford or do you actually go and do that stuff.. or do you often just go home and chill like most people everywhere most nights?

Anyway, it’s your opinion and you are afforded to share your views. But I lived in New York, California and Florida. There is no place like London where everything are packed in one great city.

My first years in London were like a dream came true. I felt like living in the centre of the world, knowing tons of international and interesting people, happy that nobody cares about you, no dirty looks if you have a coffee or eat in a restaurant alone… Now after 13 years I’m ready to leave for good. All those friends also left London for good, moving to other cities or other countries, other jobs, other projects. My time here has coming to an end and I want to start another chapter in my life.

London’s cost of living is too high for normal people. The cost of transport is also higher than anywhere. London maybe is right place for rich people, like everywhere else

Well said!

Yep. TfL is the only major transport authority in Europe that is forced to rely mainly on customer fares for their revenue (70%) recently. This seems good to people who hate taxes and government spending, but overall it's way less efficient and costs everyone more in the long term. Because TfL relies on customer fares it's income varies a lot more, and it's budgets are very short term. It relies on government grants for long term infrastructure spending but those grants are tiny compared to other countries and compared to the cost of actually upgrading the oldest subway system. TfL regularly loses out on good contracts and cheaper deals because international companies would rather do deals with European nations or even China! There's no surprises there is TfL are saying they don't know what their capital budgets will be literally every year and you have other countries guaranteeing funding and bigger orders for multiple years in a row.

I'm from London born and bred W12 W10 Notting Hill Gate of Caribbean West Indian descent and she is right 👍 the thing that annoys me is that London England is not even Christian anymore. To be honest MOST of my English British friends White and Black have moved to Barbados and West Indies 😂 playing cricket in the sun drinking rum 😂 and Sailing in Antigua. London is just not London anymore especially Central London. At the end of the day home is home

What has religion got to do with it? 60 years ago England was more Christian and people people were way more racist and the normal working people were a lot poorer (not saying we're in a good spot now, things have been downhill since 2008, but still).

Another daft comment. Nf were saying the same thing in the late 70s. You should research rock against racism

I think it is all about luck and timing : I live in a small ( but delightfully charming ) flat in Notting Hill , do not pay any rent for the flat ( which has gorgeous, well managed gardens) as I own the flat, and I work for myself as a( n experienced ) Tax Consultant . I can work from home and can meet clients for lunch at three - Michelin Star restaurants less than 10 minutes’ walk from where I live . I think if I were a Millennial or Zoomer - life would be far more “challenging“ for me….😮

As somenone has to commute to east London from the Southend area for couple of times a week for work for around eighteen months I think you have nailed it. In part it's because the change was my imposed by my empoyer and their office location stratergy and not of my own choice.

I've been living in London for 12 years and clicked on this video out of pure curiosity...I've lived in North London and Central London. To add, you forgot about all the free museums and cultural events as a pro. As a con, my childcare costs are 2.5k a month for nursery.
