I just did a factory tour at Logrite in nearby (to me)Vernon CT. The owners Tammy and Kevin are awesome. I have a 36 in Logrite Hookeroon that is now my go to on the wood pile and out in the woods when I’m cutting.

We have our woodstove running but it is still not that cold here yet. It is good to find good quality tools that are not expensive. I have just been doing some searching and it looks like we have an importer for Logrite tools in the UK. Thanks for sharing this

So, this is a couple years old now, but I wonder if you've started using a piece of PVC pipe over the log stops to keep the log from hanging up on them. It's a nice addition to the mill.

Great company. Logrite donated 4 Timbersports racing peeves to my college Timbersports team. Working in the woods now, definitely the best peeves out there.

Good Evening Sir, Yes we had a big drops of temperature ( end of the Indian summer week ) however, this morning I seal of my roof because for the winter since I did not receive the steel adapter from brick to Steel chimney ( they lost it,,, ) so no wood stove heat until next year 😢 So until then the outside wood stove will be my therapy for winter 👍😇 Outstanding Informative Video 😇👌OUTSTANDING video demonstration Sir 👌😇👍 I see that you have steel reinforcement over your various steel channel of your wood mill but the last one at the end is missing ? 🤔 Have a safe week Sir Cheers 👍😇🍻

Great vid and information, thank you. You influenced me to order a 48" Logrite cant hook, and I am anxious to try it. My trees are often under the 8" minimum for the 48" cant hook, so that precluded me getting the 60" version - which has a 10" log minimum. I do have an older version of the LogOX 3-in-1, but the handle is too short for larger logs - and the LogOX is heavy and awkward.

Thanks for the review and info on Logrite. I looked at these. They’re impressive and quality made for sure. But I ended up going with a local company to me, Woodchuck Tools, when I bought cant hook/timber jack combo. Both companies make great tools. Have a good one.

@@BuildALotAcres just some 3/16” flat steel. And shaped it. And one was 1/4” steel rod. Shaped the ends the way I wanted then hardened them. The shortest one handle one about 18” is great for getting split wood down off the 8’ tall stack to put in the stove. And movin stuff around. Other ones I use for moving logs and cut rounds. Just jam the pickaroons into two rounds and go with them. Only could take one round if using your hand to pick them up. Don’t have to bend as far to get the rounds. And you can stand straight while carrying the rounds. One one each side of you. Just great tools.

I was chilly this morning in N.E Ohio as well. As long as it's sunny during the day, our house holds heat until the morning, so I haven't fired up the Hardy yet. Probably next week if the forecast doesn't change.

I know a little about Logrite. I met the owner at the Woodstock fairgrounds at an annual agricultural fair in September some years back. He was familiar with Supersplit and owned a previous invention of Francis G. Xavier that was a portable mini sawmill that attached to a Stihl chainsaw, sort of like a Prazi beam cutter attaches to a worm drive skillsaw. Some years later after the patent rights on the Supersplit expired he reverse engineered it and was just beginning to market a product called the Firewoodinator. You probably won't be able to find much info on that. It was a trailer with a kinetic splitter on it and it had a fold down ramp. It really was pretty clever. It had a spindle that poked out of the safety cover, an extension of the flywheel axle that was used as a capstan winch. You could run a rope under a log, wrap it around the capstan and it would roll the log up the ramp. Mechanical advantage. There were slots in the ramp where a chainsaw could safely cut the log into 16" lengths.Unfortunately his wife was demonstrating it at the same Ag fair and her hand got caught in the rope and injured. It was in the local news, it sounded pretty bad. I hope her hand healed alright. I had only seen the product on his website but after that it vanished. It was a small family business and seemed very earnest and committed to quality. They used to have a lot of videos on their website of the family working. It might make an interesting field trip. The Supersplit interview was pretty good. We have had a few fires, but it's still pretty warm, keep letting them go out or the glass gets sooted up.

Wow! Great post sir. Sounds like quite the machine. Those Capstan winches are really nice. I recall being amazed how well they worked watching a Norwood log winch video several years ago. Great idea about doing a tour. They seem like a great American company. I used to drive through Vernon pretty often.

Logrite did not reverse engineer the SuperSplit. We bought all the units from SuperSplit and built the input and output tables around their unit. Logrite has never sold any type of sawmill.

@@LogRiteTools I apologize if I had any specific facts incorrect. I do remember the Firewoodinator and thought it was a great concept. I only saw video demonstrations of it. If I recall it was not a sawmill, but there were accommodations in the platform where a handheld chainsaw could cut the full log to splittable lengths. I think I remember the splitter or the ramp was mounted on a swivel so it could easily work omni-directionally. It was a long time ago, but that day I was working with a friend and his father came home from the Ag fair. He was marveling at the machine and they both knew I had a supersplit and was a fan. I had already seen the machine in videos on the Logrite website. We all thought it was genius. I only heard about the accident later because we are local to the fairgrounds. I assumed you reverse engineered them because I remembered the flywheel covers not being the same color (could be wrong, it was at least ten years ago). Was there just the one prototype?
@LogRiteTools2 жыл бұрын
@@rowgler1 It is a great concept but no one wanted to work that hard. Everyone wants to push a button and watch the machine do the work. We sold two dozen or so. They mostly went to Oregon where the designer is from.

I really like that you review tools you already own, have used, and bought yourself. I have no interest in watching someone “review” a tool they just got given. It feels like a grab for views. No real benefit to a viewer. Keep it real man

One bad thing about aluminum tools is when it rubs off on your hands making your hands black. I suspect that is bad for your health because the aluminum may be absorbed by your body. The paint on the aluminum will mitigate this problem. One feature to look for is the availability of replacement parts for when the tool becomes dull or worn.
@BuildALotAcres2 жыл бұрын
Good point. I never considered that point about it wearing off. I believe the tips and hooks on Logrites peaveys and cant hooks are all replaceable
