Mat new watcher here, the first RR video popped up on my feed last week, since then I’ve watched the Ferrari, Lamborghini Mercy, McLaren 720 & BMW M3 house crash rebuilds. I’ve been quickly addicted, I already love your small & close-nit team. Love your relationship with your dad, can already tell no amount of money could buy some of the moments you’ve had together rebuilding some of these cars. Hello Mat, I have already been an installer and did technical support of the Ghost immobiliser (uk) / Igla alarm (Europe) system, anti-theft system. When you have the car ready to drive, you have to be careful, because the Ghost module may have the anti-car-jacking system active. What makes the car turn off while you're driving. I think you can test if the system is active without having to drive the car. You put the car to work with the doors closed, open the driver's door and get out and get back in (do not turn off the car during the process), if the car starts flashing the "high beams" or "the blinks" or "the engine light" it is because it is active. You can deprogram / program this function, without having to go to a workshop (I'll help you if you need anything) if you need to change the secret code of unlocking the car's engine I can also help you. Or even if you want to remove the device, I'll help you all remotely. Keep up the excellent work.

Trick to get cheap RR parts, find the part number and ring a BMW dealer they can order the same parts for 1/3 of the price, for example a 90ah battery is £230 for the same battery at RR is £720! most of them subframe parts will be a 7 series

@Mat Armstrong there is guy in Co. Wicklow Ireland who specialises in making any Carbon Fibre moulds you need. He has done work for James Deane, Drift Games etc. He could be way cheaper making some of those carbon fibre items for you.

You can get the exhaust repaired. Find someone that knows how to block off each end by brazing caps to it. One end needs a Schrader valve fitting so they can use compressed air to put a little pressure in it. Then gently heat up the damaged part and it will come out. Once it's back in shape heat up the braze and remove it. Used to do this on motocrossers when the front pipe would get damaged from stones hitting it.

Wow, this video has been elevated into another realm of car repair. The amounts of money involved here blows my mind. Being just a humble worker drone myself I used to feel faint with the replacement cost of my Range Rover (not a Rolls Royce) spark plugs, but just a tiny bit of trim on the front of that Rolls costing over £4k wtf. It was on Mark McCanns video about the ghost immobiliser, it allows you to start it once to steal it and drive away but the next time you try and start it, it stays immobilised. Something to do with not beating you up to get the car started, once they’ve took the car you’re no longer in danger

Ghost Immobiliser does not allow you to drive away, it only allows you to start the car

@@RMS71 some ghost immobilisers have a setting that allows the car to be started and driven. Once turned off it will not start again. This tricks any thieves into thinking it doesn’t have an immobiliser as some thieves have been known to attack car owners at their house to get them to tell them the code. This removes the car and the thieves away from the house but the car can be recovered later

Incorrect… Ghost works differently depending on the car brand. For example. I had a Mercedes and the Ghost was set up so that it wouldn’t start at all until the code was input. My wife had a BMW and it would allow the car to start, but once you put it in gear the engine would cut out… Plus, on top of that there’s a service mode which Mats car could’ve been in.

Hydraulic lines to roll bar are probably active roll control. Allows them to run soft suspension and stiffen the anti roll bars when cornering. Your builds are now the best on KZbin, too many of the others spend all their time talking and not doing.

Are you sure the subframe isn't just a BMW 7 Series??? I am almost positive that is. It is stamped F01 so I would see if you can get a 7 series one and see if that works. Petrol tank is 100% B

I have to say, initially I'd never watched any of your videos, they kind of came across as a bit of clickbait with the "showing my car to the dealership" stuff. But as a United supporter from USA, I HAD to see what this was all about! I'm glad I did, the videos brilliant. You do a great job of balancing out actual work done on the vehicle, combined with phenomenal storytelling. Really gets us all invested in the project as viewers. I hope you find great success with this, maybe it will be good enough that Rashy wants to buy it back and have another go! I would be terrified to drive a car of this caliber on the public roads for this exact reason, it only takes one elderly lady not paying attention to ruin a feat of modern engineering.

@@fF-jb4gs physical key isn't any safer, you can literally bypass the keyhole and start the car, if you can bypass the immo. Physical keys are relic from time when immobilizers weren't standard equipment and you needed something to make stealing a car harder. Then came immobilizers, which are the actual thing stopping you from starting the car. As immobilizers became standard in every car there was no need for physical key, so we got keyless start systems. Edit: and older (really old) cars without immobilizer can be stolen in few seconds by just jumping the wires.

A ghost immobiliser sometime will allow the car to start but the moment it goes into gear the car cuts out

I'm pretty sure that you can buy a Cat B breakers car without a breakers licence and then arrange a time with Co-Part to strip parts off it on-site, they used to allow this anyway. They usually give you only an hour so you would have to go down with tools and a team to strip the parts needed in time. The other option, which I'm surprised you haven't done already, is to talk to a breakers yard in your area and ask them if you can use their breakers licence in exchange for a video shout out of their business etc., the car would have to be delivered to the scrap yard but you could strip the parts at the scrap yard in your own time, or, if they trust you, take the car away to your unit and take the parts off there, returning the frame to the scrap yard to be crushed when finished.

tbh for the mansory trims, if u wanna do that making forged carbon is really easy i think for 2000 pounds u can make a mold and save about half the money off getting it from them, its just carbon shavings and resin
