I generally like all machines. Bikes, cars, 4x4s, you name it. When it comes to bikes, I've owned only Harleys. I know they aren't for everyone, and they don't fit everyone's riding style. They fit mine. I'm old, fat and slow. No really, I am. But I don't think I am better or worse than any of you fine folks. I always throw the deuce (even to scooters, man) and I generally care that we all get home safe after a ride. And if y'all see me out here and need to pass, just know I see you coming up behind me and I'll make room for you! ✌😎

It's not that Kawasaki is unreliable, they are very reliable. It's not that Kawasaki is unrefined, they are very refined. It's not that Kawasaki doesn't know horsepower, they have a history of one-upping Suzuki. And because supercharger. And 1441cc four. It's just...... they really aren't leading any class right now. Not the 650. Not the 900. Not the ADV. Not the supernaked. Not the cruiser. Not the scrambler or dual sport. The only class they dominate is the 400-450cc class sportsbike, and a bonkers supercharged thing. That's about it. They refuse to get away from 180° parallel twins and flat-plane inline-4 engines and do something interesting. As a corporation, they clearly can afford engine development and have a ton of experience in racing. Yet, they don't lead any particular class. They aren't anything anyone tends to aspire to.

This is actually a brilliant video due to the fact Yammie throws shade on just about every popular bike on the road (that alot of the viewers own). I always get a kick seeing his short, undeveloped frame on that econo-Ducati. Again, Yammie is no dummy, he knows exactly how polarizing this video is and the view pulling potential.

The cbr 500r is my first bike, and its perfect. It has all the things a new Rider could wish for. 1. It looks realy cool and is perfect for short commutes 2. It has comfortable ergonomics. 3. You can also go on longer trips (5h+) without being super uncomfortable 5. You can drive fast (~140 km/h 87mp/h) consistently for hours 4. I have the A2 license so i cant get more power anyway. I know the ninja 400 is a bit faster and the better "sports bike" but i'm also doing longer trips, where the cbr is more comfortable due to the greater weight and the bigger displacement. The only real drawback is the price, but for me its definitely worth it.

I agree; the CBR500R is a great choice for those in the UK. Feel sorry for the riders in the states that pay a much higher price for Hondas than us. I am in the uk, and have a full A licence; but this bike will give you 70 to 90 miles per gallon; typically for me, I get 230 miles on a tank of gas. Here's a reason why you might want to start on a (used) CBR500R like I did given that what you said about it is true: Once you upgrade to other bikes, you really feel the difference in performance/quality/fun. When I was on my CBR500R I had no frame of reference, so I had a lot of fun with it. Also bought it used so didn't pay much for it. I've since jumped to faster/lighter/better handling bikes and the difference is night and day. I still have a soft spot for that bike though.

CBR500r owner here and just came back from a ride to see this video dropped lmao. I respect your opinion but mine is different! :) The thing is so f:ing fun on twisty roads because the gears are very short in a way that happens to match the speed limits and the flow of tight roads around here pretty well so that you can actually shift through the gears legally(ish), and in a way that feels just right and satisfying. The power is fun, not terrifying and SILKY SMOOTH in the power band. Not loud but has a nice sounding beefy intake roar and backfires off throttle.

There’s nothing wrong with the CBR500R objectively. But when it comes to fun, the Ninja 400 is just a little more exciting, engine rev’s harder, flicks in better, handles better, and feels (and is) significantly lighter, for less money. Basically you could have spent less money for more fun. I rode a Ninja 400 back to back with a 500 and wished I bought the Ninja… I have a Z900 now, which he also says doesn’t do much for him. Riding back to back with a brand new XSR900 I found the Z900 to be a little more aggressive in terms of seating position, leaned forward and tucked ergonomically (which I prefer) and found the Z900 to not only be smoother, but it feels stronger just about everywhere in the RPM range. And doing pulls with the XSR (rider and I are only 5 lbs difference, I’m heavier), the Z900 is quicker in a straight line in rolling starts. The XSR feels more manic but more flickable, the Z900 more stable. I went with the Z900 cause I got a used 2022 for a killer deal, and was able to pay cash so no payment.

I haven’t had any issues with it. I’m not the most mechanically inclined, but I’ve haven’t had any issues mechanically or doing basic maintenance to it. I feel like it was a great place to start. It has enough power to keep it exciting and to keep up with highway speeds. My only issue with the bike is dealing with the wind at higher speeds. It’s a naked bike so it makes sense but I love the way it looks. Glad to see the Ducati Diavel get a Yammie respect shout out. That is my current dream bike. I have a MT07 as my first bike. My riding style isn't about thrills and adrenaline. I'm more into the open air, freedom cruising, but I DO want power for occasional fun acceleration on roads and on ramps. I also want highway power and the ability overtake when at speed. Torque to accelerate out of emergency situations is also a desire of mine. So the MT07 has been very easy for me as my first bike. The power is manageable if you are sane and just grow into it. The Ducati Diavel 1260S is the my dream second bike. Full cruiser riding style and comfortable seat. Better for 2up with my wife. It looks amazingly futuristic as if it was designed for Cyberpunk 2077 and the power it has seems perfect for my needs. The entire muscle cruiser category really appeals to me. I like the HD Sporster S for the same reason. It's reliability issues have spooked me though and the Ducati is better for 2up anyway.

generally like all machines. ✌😎

kawasaki embraced the parallel twin which was the inevitable next step since emissions are getting stricter and stricter, and now that yamaha and suzuki are following suit and releasing twins, kawsaki is moving on to hybrid motorcycles. they're ahead of the game. i still prefer L twins. when it comes to cruisers and scratching in corners. it really depends on the cruiser, chopper, bobber. i have a Yamaha Virago 250 and a Virago 535. i have used the entire tire. no chicken strips and not a single part has come into contact with the ground. except my side-mounted sign. but i just bent the corner a little and i was fine. my point being. depending on the rider and depending on the bike, you can do a bunch of things that a Sports bike can. but of course it takes time and skill to learn.

I bought a z650rs because I liked the style, flickability, and smooth reliable engine. I like the MT-07 but if I wanted to get rowdy I would prefer a bigger bike. Maybe my 4th bike would be a MT-09 but i like nimbleness over power right now.

Something I haven't heard anyone bring up, when you guys ran the Ninja 650, the rs660, and the R6 against each other. The venerable little 650 had the smallest 0-60 time. I believe 3.5 seconds vs. 4 seconds for the 660 and r6.

I bought Ninja 650 as a first bike after watching loads of videos, including yours, and i am absolutely 100 percent stand by my deciseon. Its an amazing bike for a new rider. It looks sporty, its upright but not too upright, it has a good engine and it sounds just great with a proper exaust (Leo Vinci on mine). And its green. And it has Ninja on it. And it owned 2 bikes you liked in your own damn video. Great bike would buy it again.

I'm a BMW owner and a boxer fan, but I'm not much of a GS fan either. I have no desire to take a big lumbering bike like that offroad (especially given that it's $27k optioned up). The 19" front tire limits tire choices for street tires. My two favorite BMWs are the R and RS. Both are fantastic bikes. I own and R and it's a do it all bike.

Totally ignorant metric bike rider here, but don’t Dynas have a problem with handling? Like they have their own unique death wobble or something?
@michaelrodgers6559
@michaelrodgers6559 5 ай бұрын
@masterblaster5392 they do, but it's well documented as to why, and the aftermarket cures it. Bought my streetbob with 16,000 miles on it, and knew right away that it needed new engine mounts. Did that, then added a set of braces akin to watt's links to eliminate unwanted movement altogether, because the swingarm pivot is on the rear of the transmission, not the frame. Cruiser comfort design that too many people don't maintain properly, leading to the deathwobble.

I've owned 3 Kawasakis, 5 Suzukis, 2 Yamahas. I've been to tons of demos over the years and ridden various bikes other people have owned. Been on 80's bikes, 90's bikes, 2010's bikes, 2020's bikes. Out of the "big four" brands, I do find Kawasaki to be the most bland these days. Great machines technically, very refined, powerful, but generally lacking categorical leadership (except for the H2 series). They don't excel in the 650 class, they don't have a 800 anything, their 900 class bike isn't any class leader, they don't have a super-naked that isn't ridiculously expensive. Their ADV bikes are heavy, not especially powerful. Suzuki and Yamaha are my favorites. I would take a Kawasaki before I took a boring Honda.

Sometimes people forget that people's decisions aren't always dictated by what media considers "best", sometimes you get something that did get a bit of a bad review, and you are fine with it because you got it for fair price considering it's limitations or something puts you off by the "best" product be it design, functionality, or it just not working out for you. I like Ferrari cars but I dont' think I'll get one because not only I wouldn't be able to afford one, it wold be almost a decoration for me, since I would feel bad driving it since I would decrease it's value by 1000$ every time I crank it over

Hey i'm thrilled with my "Boring" ninja 650. I can tuck and catch a case of the zoomies and I can sit upright and commute to work safely and sanely. It can do far more than I'm capeable of as a beginner and the bike has a lot to teach me still. When it's time I will upgrade to a buel hammerhead or a zx6r or some other faster sports bike. If kawasaki made a ninja that was still ~400lbs but had a triple cylinder 750-900cc and had the ergos of a sport tourer like the ninja 650, I'd buy that in a second. I don't really need the ergo's of a supersport as a 34 year old. I like the option of riding upright or tucking. I'm 5'4'' and 140lbs. I don't fit all that well on supersports with clipons with my tiny little T-Rex arms, I have to lay down on the fuel tank. If the ninja 1000sx was closer to 400lbs and had a 1'' lower seat, it would be my next bike...

Been riding for over fourty years and i have the Same problem with cruisers, they scrape pegs in the most mellow of turns. It makes me crazy when im not even trying to ride them hard. As soon as they touch the big stops turning. Some can be cool but they just aren't up to the task of doing what i do. Also dont like ridding in the feet forward nuts in the wind position. Way more control over the machine in a sport riding position

Riding a cruiser and not understanding cruiser is kind of like why car people don’t get motorbikes. Every good aspect of motorbike are just another reason not to buy one for car drivers, and we don’t get why car drivers would forever want to be stuck in their boxes. We assume they’ll understand once you get to ride one, and show them what’s its like, but most of them will just go “yeah but I don’t wanna die cars are way safer and does everything better.”

I mean .. I understand that there are more fun bikes than the CBR 500R... But... That 500cc engine is bulletproof... Those engines can make easilly 200.000 kms. And the CBR is more substancial, better built, the 2024 model has a tft dash.. and is very good looking. You pay more when you buy it new but you will save money in the long run.
