In the late 1960's & early 1970's in the bays of Sarasota, when I was a kid but could have been a guide by about age 12, we used the 3/8 oz. Boone brand jig head with a grub body called a "Trout Tout". Used the brown Fenwick E-Glass rods, PLS 65 (heavy butt section with fast tip 6'6" or 75 (7'6") with about now would be 2500-3000 size Daiwa Spinning reels. Caught 1000's of Snook (16" to 35 lbs- average 3-8 pounders but many in the 8 to 18 lb. range too), Redfish, Trout, Flounder, etc. These worked on the then much thicker open grass flats but also along the edges on the 3 passes. Midnight Pass was open then right by the original location of the Mote Marine Lab. Snook hung out at the drop off ledges in the passes in late spring before the moved out into the Gulf During Summer. The brackish waters were for winter......November to March. I still use the glass rods....nothing can touch them for topwater action.....in my experience. Love your videos!

I didn't even know this had a name, I use a fluke or minnow style bait with a round head jig and bounce it on the bottom. Flounders can't resist.

I love putting a little fluke style lure on a Ned head. Redfish agree!

That's a great idea. I have some Yum baits that would be perfect for this!

Nice!! Good idea 👍 you can also use a slam Shady 2.0 paddle tail or a DOA paddle tail and cut the paddle off. It creates a nice finesse profile.

Been doing this for years with some heavier ned rigs scaled up for salt. And northeaster currents

I have no idea where the fish are right now. It's been way too cold for a FL Man living by the Chesapeake Bay to be fishin'. So I've been stocking up on soft plastics and jig heads, and I got a 7'6" fast action rod and 2 new reels. The new 7'6" Ugly Stik Carbon Inshore rods are nice, nothing like their composite rods. I used the 7' models all last year and they're very nice so I'm stoked to use a 7'6" and hopefully cast a little farther. Mostly I need it to warm up.

@bl4643 I live close to the HRBT. But I'm not going to put my kayak in the water until it's warmer. I'll start going to Fort Monroe or around the bridges in Phoebus when it's warm enough to enjoy. Lately it's just too brutal for me. Where do you live?

I wanted one of those rods but they don't make em in 2 pieces 😔
@comfortablynumb93429 күн бұрын
@ronnysavage no they don't have the 7'6" in 2 piece models yet. I have no idea if they're going to or not. It probably depends on how popular the series is. I have 3 of the 7' models in medium light, medium and medium heavy. I really like them. The tip guides need to be changed if you use braid, after a year of using it several times a week I started having my line fray from the groove braid cut in it. But that could happen to any tip guide that gets used so much. And it was just the medium action, the one I used the most. The medium light is great too. The heavier one is just as good, I just don't need it as much. This year the lighter one has 8 lb braid instead of 10. The medium will keep 10, and the 7'6" will have 10 lb braid too. The heavier one will keep the 15 lb braid. I'm thinking about getting a rod for fluorocarbon. I've never had a reel full of fluoro. Mono was all I used until I got to move to the Chesapeake Bay and start saltwater fishin again. I switched to braid and it's good but I wonder about fluoro because it sinks.

Hello Pat, Got a ultra light weight pre spooled with a 6LB Mr. Crappie)mono. Will it be effective for this type of application?
@comfortablynumb93429 күн бұрын
6 lb test is fine for a lot of saltwater fish. I have caught a lot of snook with 6 lb monofilament, plus trout and redfish and flounder and even a cobia. You want a rod that will cast as far as possible. But yeah it should be okay in my opinion.
@rec10159 күн бұрын
@comfortablynumb9342 what rods do you suggest?
@comfortablynumb93429 күн бұрын
@rec1015 The Salt Strong/ Fish Strong store online has some good ones but I haven't tried any except for the $350 Slot Machine they sell. I know a guy who has one and I cast it a few times. Nice rod. I personally can't afford that. I have been very happy with the all graphite Ugly Stik Carbon Inshore series. They're $99. Last year I fished with 3 of them in 7', a medium light, a medium and a medium heavy. They have fast actions that work well for lures and they're far more sensitive than the old Ugly Stiks made of composite. And I just got the new 7'6" version that came out in the Fall. It's a medium action. I haven't fished with it yet because it's too cold but I can tell it's going to cast a long way. My 7' medium casts almost as far as that $350 rod. I like those Carbon Inshore rods so much that I want one for one of my baitcasters too.

is there a rolodex somewhere with all the clickbait titles for youtube channels? Like they are just flash cards, you spin the roller, it stops on TRUTH or SECRET of THEY DON"T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT THIS etc....and you rotate that into all your channels vid titles?
@garyallen76759 күн бұрын
Urube really loves clickbait,its basicly lying
@ForTheKingdom7779 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t say it’s Clickbait. Click bait would be something that has a false or misleading title just to make you click. KZbin is extremely oversaturated with content. Creators constantly fighting to get their videos seen. So I would say words like TRUTH, SECRET or they don’t want you to know this, are bold words and phrases that help the audience engage in the title and stand out from the other videos. It’s actually genius and it works. For example, it got you here. God bless, Jesus love you
