His past was dark. If you've seen it come up a lot then it is. If his music dark that's his music. His last 3 album covers have all been pretty monotone in color tbh😂😂😂 Its not a knock its just not for everyone. I like it tho but I understand where other fans come from

Dark? Anger? You felt angry after hearing it? I felt inspirrrrreeeed after hearing it. Idk, that just seems off. I guess maybe I'm coming from a different place, because I've been an avid NF fan since his EP dropped. His music as helped me along through a dark few years in my life, and I was honestly scared that now that I'm moving past that stage in my life, that I wouldn't connect to his music anymore. So I guess when I hear this album I feel so much pride being able to see his growth over the years. You can FEEL his healing and growth in this album. You can see him becoming more mature than he was back in TS. I guess that's why this album has me excited. I just feel like I'm on the journey along with NF

I just really don't know if I want NF to be that big. As of right now, I think he is in a perfect spot. He is not the type to go for the fame. He just genuinely likes creating music, and just being him. He said in one of his songs that he turned down a $100,000 deal. He said it in the song Warm Up. He really doesn't want to sell out, and I think to him he feels like if he gets super mainstream people will say he sold out.

BulletProof GaMeS I thought the same about logic from announcing his first album I didn’t know how it would go from there but now it’s just he’s true to himself. Em rapped better than himself in his 20s then he does now. Em is also more diverse in production. NF is compared to Eminem because he raps just like Eminem. No one ever compared Andy to Em. The 2 are not the same but Em and NF.. please Besides if Em hadn't rapped NF wouldn't be either
@Andrewtherapper.
@Andrewtherapper. 7 жыл бұрын
Thomas Fox They aren't necessarily comparable. Eminem is known as a lyricist and started as a battle rapper and uses a lot of punchlines and wordplay whereas NF uses less of that and uses lyrics to tell a story. Lyrically Eminem could beat NF but soundwise NF is modern🔥 he brings a new sound.

NF is not a traditional religious Christian. He's has an actual relationship with GOD unlike most church goers, who claim they know GOD. Just because he's a Christian doesn't mean he has to rap about GOD. He's staying in the lane GOD wants him to be in (GOD'S expectation and plans, not man's). Let him be who GOD created him to be, he's reaching alot more people than your average traditional religious Christian artist. And seems like y'all instigating talking about Eminem, why is that?😔😧

as far the comment about some churches not wanting to promote NF - I think it's unfair. There are allot of people (kids, teens, adults) that can relate in some way to what NF raps about. I like that NF can rap & talk about real issues & reach people without using profanity. I don't think that he ever claimed to be a "christian rapper" but more so a "christian that raps". At my church, our youth group did a skit in the service & used the song "Start Over" by Flame & my daughter rapped NF's part of the song. Our church seemed to be completely receptive of it. I'm 38 years old, I've been a Christian for 33 years & I LOVE NF's music. I introduced his music to my husband & both of our daughters when they were 8 & 11. I love that we can listen to the style music we like & not have to worry about inappropriate language or content.

1.Everyone has a right to there own opinion. It is their review on what they listened to. But this is what I will say when Paul talks about when he almost lost his dearest friend he put it like this. Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. In other words that meaning is described as wave upon wave upon wave. Meaning he will always be reminded of his mom. So that upset, anger,"mean " person however you want to describe him yourself. That is a fight that many go through in this life at young ages. 2. Now too the point of youth pastor again that's his right and his conviction on how he wants to lead his sheep. Do I agree based solely off to the point of reason I said earlier for the very same reason. They may be able to speak to one of the youth. What blows my mind these days is that sometimes again sometimes not all the time when we speak to the youth we forget what we were like not just babes in Christ but on top of that being so young in maturity we try to push our walk on them. In the since of this, is what I don't listen to so neither will you. As pastor or just a Shepard in general we first meet them where they are at and allow for them to then in turn make that choice what they should listen to. 3.For me I have no problem with NF being played by or for my ten year olds listening to it. It allows for dialogue to be open. Gosh I would love for people that thinks he is angry and mad I would ask them this one question( "if" NF is so offensive moody and dark how would you justify reading the book of psalms and the things that King David wrote about) NF isn't saying kill my enemies. Yet David penned songs when he was being attack by king Saul the very guy he played for. 4.There is something very powerful seen throughout the whole bible and seen in NF's writing, that when struggles in our minds are brought out into the light of God they are now open to be healed through the blood of Jesus. I have never thought for a min since getting NF's ep when he first came out with it from capitol this is too dark, to angry, to not enough Jesus. Have none of you all at work never felt those certain ways at any point in time but never said it out loud. Here is NF confessing his trespasses with so called Christians but then being judged by them. He has a great line in the new album church is where I found God but it's also where I first learned to judge. Which is so true we are so quick to judge if the person next to me isn't walking the same walk I am. After being saved now for 20 years the young man who first got saved would tell me I'm not saved. Because as a young believe I was such a law dog but not of old laws but placing my own new covenant laws like no Christmas tree in my house now I think what a silly law to place on my family. The bible says to work out your "OWN"salvation with fear and trembling. 5.I would say this to wrap this post up. Let NF workout his own salvation you are to come along side him and support him. He says he has given his life to Jesus so let God's grace work not our grace we think. Every thing you think is "right and wrong" we are already coming at that in a flawed state so how do you really know. He was beat as a kid divorced parents drug addict mom that would end up losing her life from it and only God knows what else he has to deal with. But just two of those alone are wounds that are deep ones and he is working through them through his music like he said his therapy. It is encouraging to me and inspires me to be as well to be an open book like he is being. It would have saved me from a lot of heart ache if my trespasses and sins were so open for people to see. If this album made you angry then maybe that is a very sin God wants you to work on rather then say it is because of a person's music. Don't get so stuck in church walls that we forgot how it felt the first time we all walked into them. Yea he is a Christian he said he was but he's at work. Not everybody's words at their job are hey how's it going Jesus where do you work today's Jesus, me I'm billing customers Jesus. Come on let's get real it is his job to make music that isn't full of the world's filth lyrically and he has remained true to that and that alone. And by the sounds of it helped kids that wanted to cut themselves and helped someone getting beat by their Dad. So let's just leave it at that the youth needs help, so many of the kids are doing harmful things themselves these days. I'm thankful for NF and pray he stays on this path the youth needs it.

I wish i knew all your names, but I'll number you from 1 to 5 (1 is center screen, working clockwise). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, #5 you admitted on here that you don't even like REAL music, just a gimmicky song. However, you guys don't get NF, I think #2 does. You are trying to break him down lyrically/musically, compare him to Em. As a Christian, I identify with NF, cause I've lived REAL life, and through all my sin found God. It isn't about rainbows and sunshine to be a Christian, and once you've given your life to Christ, you still have REAL problems, they don't go away (Family, friends, your carnal man, old sin). In his own defense, listen to KNOW, and 3d Verse of Outcast. I've introduced NF to my 12 year old son because he is so real/relevant, and he isn't talking all the BS like these other actors. I grew up on Pac, Em, Biggie, NAS, Daz/Kurupt, 3-6 mafia, screw, you name it. When someone can pull a fan base while "dropping clean records but they nasty". I agree he doesn't talk about Jesus every line, but do you tell everyone you meet about Jesus? I think his very first album (not mansion) was very religious...but NF's music is speaking to people, and if the 60/40 comment is correct, then at least he is reaching people that know where he stands.

BEN W NF has always maintained that his music is not limited to just Christians,and that’s something I really respect from him. A good amount of his discography is about God and the Christian faith and it’s hard to not recognize that when checking him out (Oh Lord,Thing Called Love,Destiny,I’ll Keep On,etc) but he also has a lot of songs that are just meaningful songs in general and could speak to anyone (Let You Down,Remember This,Wake Up,How Could You Leave Us,etc). I understand the “lack of hype/entertainment factor” or however they worded it in his music overall but he’s stood by the “real music” cause throughout his career and a pure hype song could be seen as selling out,and I don’t think NF would want to do anything to make people question him as a person or the authenticity of his lyrical content. (I know he’s already made some hype songs like Grindin’ and Warm Up but those have good lyrical content mixed in with the hype factor).

What is the definition of rapping fast? NF is good but he is not a fast rapper, he is aggressive and can have speed at times. I respect NF but people need to understand that fast rappers are people generally rapping fast most of their songs, like twisted insane, twista, bone thugs, seckond chaynce, eric c and relentless (modern day beast). NF is not on Eminem's level. But I'm tired of people always getting mad at people for sounding similar to someone else rapping style, its not always disrespectful because a lot of these people always are inspired by other rappers. If you like style you like the style. just keep it moving but people always need drama.

His music is definitely real and relatable, but I still have a problem with it. Life isn't easy, and we will definitely go through stuff, but it's still possible to experience joy (James 1:2-4). I feel like most of his music is about pain and struggle, but not about getting through the struggle, or the joy that can be found in the struggle. There's so many other artist that rap about the pain and struggle, but also talk about the joy and triumph from it. To Pimp a Butterfly for instance, has a depressing vibe to it early on, but the end is more on the joy and triumphing through that. This is NF's 3rd album and everything is constantly dark. From his album art, to the pictures he post on social media. He's definitely making an impact on people, but I still hope and pray he can break through this depression stage. I feel like he's too good of an artist to only rap about dark stuff.

As of the BET Awards I think we found Eminem's new target...it's not NF. He also said he had his mom buy 8 Mile that's when he knew he could do it. I originally thought the "I'm not a Rap God" line was a shot but I'm not so sure now.

I think the problem you have with NF and not hearing about him, is how he sends digs at mainstream industry, Why do they want to promote someone who is tearing them apart? and I think he is also turning down interviews for the same reason, he has built his name up on being REAL music, he constantly reminds us how they want him to change, they want him to be different and he is just doing HIM and he is going to keep releasing REAL music, for him to go do a interview with mainstream media who are promoting all this wack rap rubbish, it contradicts the music he is releasing and what he has built his foundation on. As for if Em went after NF, I feel NF would stand up strong, the guy has pretty much the whole rap genre under control, and every single release their isn't a single cuss word, he knows how to stand out, he knows how to stand strong, and he will continue to grow. He isn't known half as much as he should be, check where he is the UK and the Australian charts, he maybe getting their in the US, but he isn't making it international yet, but HE will!

Hey Sean, Ric, Ryan, and DJ JERAMAYA, Regardless of how large NF's fanbase is the direction that the new Perception album is way above that of Mansion. From the Outcast music video, to the Eminem/Drake comparisons of Wake Up, Green Lights. Plus the production on this record is top notch. Next time could delve a bit more into the instrumentation, or engineering aspects of this album. I think much of the audience gets the whole Em or Caucasian rapper dynamic at this stage in the game. Just because there's another unhappy, or dark borderline depressing moody song performed by an artist, Christian or not shouldn't subtract listeners enjoyment, or interest in the discussion. With Perception, I think we aren't being bombarded by the outright lashing out at everything persona that NF has been known to unleash. I hope you guys actually get to land an interview with him, and hopefully ask him the tough questions. For instance "What goes the thought process when you sit down and write? How do you go about choosing the subject matter for your songs? Would prefer a big bass bumping song, or a lyrically sharp, make me rewind a couple times song?" Tracks like Ten Feet Down, One Hundred, Destiny, Lie, Know My Life and even 3 A.M each have a unique sound. And believe after listening to them, the listener is more aware of who NF is identifying with. With all that being said- Is his not being embraced by Christians outside of his loyal fanbase being viewed as a drawback for NF? That remains to be seen. What I do see is his traversal beyond the scope of his talent. While this album may not offer much emphasis on guest features, Nate has stepped his game up in terms of putting out dope songs that you want to listen to again and again. I listened to the whole album at least 3 times before listening to his 2014 EP., and cycling through his catalog of music sans his "Moments" album. BTW- Do you think we could hold off on the greatest of all time comparisons for a while? They hurt the credibility of an artist in the discussion. I mean, how much higher on the scale would you rank "Green Lights" or "Outcast" versus Lecrae's "Church Clothes' or 'Welcome to America", "The Way You Lie" and "Not Afraid" by Eminem? If you'd regress even further, Busta Rhymes' "Woo Ha?" "Put Ya Hands Where My Eyes Can See "Jay-Z's " Hard Knock Life", Nas , "It Ain't Hard to Tell", Drake's "Over" "Find Your Love" or Outkast's 'Rosa Parks" or Bombs over Baghdad" or "Kendrick's "DNA", "King Kunta" or "B@tch Don't Kill My Vibe". Biggie's "Hypnotize' or Notorious Thugs" 2-Pac's "All Eyez on Me", "Hit Em Up", or Snoop and the Neptunes's ""Drop It Like It's Hot", or even Lil' Wayne's "I'm On One" They all capture different vibes yet have something unique in their song's delivery and performance and overall reception. I also think the rapid-fire delivery snippets performed by an emcee like NF are small takeaways that don't necessarily boost an Hip-Hop artist's likeability for me. Canon obviously has more going for him, in terms of relative speed and flow pattern. But dude's content and flat out ability to connect with more than just the beat, put him in a different lane than NF. Whether it's crowd engagement, on the spot freestyling, to making dope records even recording and performing at a high level, and not releasing trash on wax. regardless of demographic should also be a factor in the conversations we've been having. If we did a Line 4 Line between NF and the some of most lyrical rappers in the CHH, or overall Hip-Hop where should we draw the line? I wonder if we can hold either Mega Ran, Rapsody's, Machine Gun Kelly's or Logic's and Macklemore's recent albums to the same scrutiny? CHH's most visible flaw is that it appeals to a specific demographic: The consumers are usually fit the variety of the younger or older believer, or outwardly professing Christian. Those who communicate their deeply held beliefs of being sold out to Jesus Christ as followers or claim some sense of belonging to the church whether they grew up listening to the Gospel at first or not.. Not 100% of the time, but more often than not. NF's Perception album doesn't stick to that formula and I'm glad for that, Even if Sway in the Morning doesn't invite NF to the studio, or Hot 97 in NY doesn't give him the time of day. You can't knock NF or his team for bringing something fresh to the table this time around. The draw that Perception has built upon can't be duplicated elsewhere. Or at least remains to be seen. Adding to the Hip-Hop's diversity as a whole. this isn't a throwaway album. That's why I would love for Christian artists to break away from the safe haven of churchy, pop sounding everything is alright when you're living for Jesus, We 're bound to win because we're on Jesus' team type songs/albums. Listen to Hollyn's album then listen to Tori Kelly's or either of Selena Gomez, Solange's , Mylie Cyrus or Demi Levato's or Beyonce's songs. Would you tell me that you wouldn't put view under the same criteria and attention to detail as NF's album. If NF and his RealMusic group apart from Capitol wants to drop clean records but they nasty that's fine by me. As long as he's solid in his convictions while making enjoyable music. That boldly stands against the critique that a lot Christians who get signed are in this day and age are out to get rich and famous, then I'm good that it.. We need the raw and honest truth at the end of the day. Just because a rapper doesn't look like me, doesn't disqualify my taste or distaste for their music. I want NF to go further just like all of you guys.. Let's talk about future collaborations. Who do you see NF more likely to work with? Current day phenoms like Twenty-one pilots, Jon Bellion, Token or Logic, , or with (if possible) more lyrically gifted and grounded artists like Eminem, Ruslan, Lecrae, Jurny Big, or Propaganda,? Do any of you have a list of favorites? Sorry for the long S.A.T. essay but ya'll wanted to know what I thought in the comments so there you go. God bless the Trackstarz universe.

I am a minister (not youth) and Caucasian, and I would definitely bring this stuff to middle schoolers. I'm 43 and I've immensely enjoyed all of his albums. I also expect his next album will break away a good amount from his previous 3 albums. They've all built off of each other. Mansion - inward. Therapy Session - bringing the in out. Perception - beginning to see things rightly. I think the next one might not be an outright gospel presentation, but I think it will be present as the solution, the balm of Gilead. And if NF and Em did a colab I'd be right in that line to hear it as soon as possible.

Honestly, NF is one of the most honest down to earth rappers/singers that I have heard; especially compared to the rest of Christian music. I grew up listening to mostly Christian music... and yea, they talk about Jesus... but a lot of it is recycled. It's not transparent or honest about the human heart, and what people are going through. It hides behind the covers of self-righteousness (looking like righteousness). Not saying its all bad; because I still love worship music, and some CHH. But, so many Christians are struggling with sin, grief, brokenness, and are afraid to talk about it, because they think it will take away from giving God glory. But God tells us that we cannot have fellowship with him, unless we come into the light... being real about our struggle and sins. I'm a 30 year old woman, and I'm starting to realize this more than ever now. I just started listening to NF a month ago, and it has helped me a lot... with letting go of people's opinions of me, and just being real. We need more authenticity in the church.

Well, that youth pastor is wrong about there not being any Jesus references in TS. He is afraid of putting the difficult concepts and subject matter in front of his kids. Not every song has to have explicit references to Jesus, God, and Christianity for it to be a God honoring, Christian song.
