In this video I describe the mechanism behind how pitchers adjust on the fly and improve their pitching command over time. Baseball is a sport of adjustments and what causes some pitchers to have better control than others is often not clear.

Your catcher should also be calling pitches towards the end of your warm up. I can throw a perfect curve if I choose it and take time to grip it, etc. But when he calls it like in a game it is totally different. So practice the way you play.

Still relevant, 3 years later. My sons 8U team incorporated alot of visualiztion techiques from Heads Up Baseball program. Great walk through of how a pro pitcher uses visualization and "feel" to adjust pitch direction. Will definitely share with our pitchers. Great content Coach!

Good video! For me it’s all feeling and like you said adjustments. Some days I’m throwing hard other days I’m not as fast with movement but it’s just finding that spot in your mind where we can throw strikes

I see that in my oldest - He will seem to redo the pitch when he's warming up - At first I thought it was a nervous tick - but this makes more sense

that;'s a good sign! sometimes it can be too much if theyre doing it constantly on the mound in a game, but in general its a good thing.

What level is your team? Curious because of what you mentioned re: walks.

I played in the independent leagues, which vary in level by the league. The last three seasons I played in the Atlantic League, which is mostly former AA, AAA and MLB players
