I'm just some guy on the internet, so you don't have to take my word for it. ...but I've been in the music industry my whole life and started my career making hip hop records in a studio in Memphis. I'm also a researcher and documentarian who has been ruthlessly censored by KZbin for exposing the truth about media manipulation. I understand both worlds on a deep level. ..and this video is not only true, but it's just scratching the surface.
@Mista8084 жыл бұрын
This has already been proven. For anyone who doesn't believe this just take some time to research on this. There's even been people who were involved with this that have finally came forward after all these years to admit this. This happened in the early 90s. Private prison systems wanted to push out self conscious rappers and wanted to use the rap industry as a test to manipulate the minds of black youth. It's worked and it's made billions of dollars for those who have shares and stakes in private prison systems. This is something I've said for years but people always call me crazy. Members of Bone Thugs N Harmony actually talked about this in a podcast and broke down details on this for a full hour and even had emails from the people who were responsible who came forward after 20+ years. #MISTA808

@SuperJuniorquintero3 жыл бұрын
I've been feeling the same way for years. Growing up in the 1980's I remember you had to be lyrically nice to be an MC. In the early 90's hip hop was very exclusive for very skillful MC's. After 1995, especially since bad boy took hip hop to the level where it is now, it had become where anybody could just be called a rapper. It's a joke now. And very sad.
@gboogie3603 жыл бұрын
Kinda true.. but u have to go before 95.. it was 89-90 when NWA exploded on the scene... 95 on it was still so but we went more into the flashy era, rappers started to talk more about material things and money etc.. that's when bad boy exploded on the scene

It’s so true though. I’m 41 years old and have seen the change from hiphop to gangster rap. It hasn’t been good. I used to love hiphop. It was message driven. It was inspiring. And I look around now and see entirely different messaging. For profit prisons need to become extinct

They music/media business has been invested in these private prisons since the 90’s and as you can see today when u listen to mainstream rap radio, they play the same self destructive music over and over and over until it sinks into a person’s subconscious mind, it’s all scientific and this is why I don’t listen to that garbage in my house in front of my kid

Much love and infinite respect for your movement from Australia. I'm down for the cause, for real!! PEACE!!!

And to the listener feed out there (correct me if I’m wrong hiphopforchange) there is a huge difference between hiphop and gangster rap. That and total racial segregation of white and blacks in entertainment is where I noticed a marked change in society and an increased amount of criminalization of minorities
@khafrejay33844 жыл бұрын
Well, every culture has gangsters and Hip Hop is so big, there's room for us all. What ain't Hip Hop is the centralization around gangster rap and the misrepresentation of our culture for the entertainment of mostly white college-age males.

Guess this goes back to nwa..then deathrow,,, murder inc...gunit. Then shit really got out of hand . I feel like it mostly comes from New York. Makes sense because whatever rappers wear say an do. So is the hood. Any hood. Even places that aren't the hood. And prison. Private prisons, ohio is full of them. And here's a cold fact. I did 3 years in lake Erie correction, here in ohio. When I was in most of the population, was obsessed with rap. Not like listening, but memorizing and studying, and trying to become exactly like them. Even me

No doubt. Another connection is that CoreCivic (CCA) was founded in Nashville. Although Nashville is not a Hip Hop hotbed, every major record label has a significant presence there. There are some other coincidences. Founded during the beginning of the Crack Era. Goes public just before the preeminent gangsta rap group (NWA) is formed. One of the founders was the head of the Tennessee Republican Party (Reagan/crack). One thing I haven't been able to figure out is how gangsta rap, which for all intents and purposes is a reenactment of late 19th century/early 20th-century minstrel acts, is defended so hard and or rationalized by non-poverty-stricken Black people who should absolutely know better.

The first person to complain about rap in a Congressional Hearing was a black woman. As usual no one listened to her complaints. Then a white woman complained and a parental advisory sticker got placed on the covers.
@Mista8084 жыл бұрын
Yes but that's because white people have been in good neighborhoods and have had relatively easy lives where they don't have to worry about all the other drama going on that takes away their logical state of mind. I don't mean that in a bad way either. I'm essentially saying the white race has more time to sit down and think about what's really going on because our lives are essentially easier then it is for Black America. When you're constantly worried about gangs and finances and another race preventing you from thriving it makes it to where it's hard for you to sit down and focus on what's really going on. People are finally starting to wake up though and it's because of the internet and people easily being able to communicate with one another.

I think they like it cuz others like it and their older collegs like it and so on. Like peer pressure, they like what other „cool”, older people like and so the kids stick to this music
