I'm a TOTAL lover of full compression socks. I literally cannot run without them. When I have big race weeks, I "treat" myself and wear them to work. I use procompression and have had great success, they will run great specials often 5 pair for 100$ and the other day did a grab bag special for 3 pair for 30$ (I ended up with some really cute pairs). Great video, great topic... keep em coming!

Thanks Cindy! I haven't tried PC yet...compression socks are hit or miss for me, so I usually try out one pair before committing to several. But I have a pair of PCs I'm eyeing...

I have had a history of calf stains but since consistently wearing compression socks I've not experienced calf soreness or reinjury. I believe they do help to prevent injury and aid recovery based on my experience so far as a 80 - 100km a week runner.

This is how I use compression socks. I don't actually like wearing them during a run or workout but I like putting them on after a run or workout for recovery.

I wore a compression top for the 1st time yesterday doing my long run, normally I'd use body glide or plasters on my nips, which never really worked for longer runs, Didn't use anything and there wasn't any shaffing issues, going to invest in a couple more, I've had this issue for years now, great to find an alternative that works...

Compassion stockings work for overall general health. I’ve worn them on and off for years. I’ve had to have vein stripping done twice in the hospital and had to have my legs wrapped for two weeks at a time! Old school… thankfully, I only have to wear the stockings/socks when I feel the need. I am no longer a runner, but I work out in gyms to during the week. I just wear a light pair that most runners use. Before, I had to be custom fitted and it would take me about a half hour to get them on with rubber gloves and all my strength. The ones I wear now feel absolutely wonderful and I just buy them on Amazon for 13 bucks. They do go up to the knee. I am 6’3 235 pounds. You do have to be careful that they fit correctly especially at the knee. You don’t want to have to roll them down because they can then act as a tourniquet causing blood to get cut off. They do help with recovery and they are also helping to get the blood back to your heart so why not?! Good luck to everyone. Enjoy your runs! 👍👍

I'm a beginner runner that pushed myself to run as far as 15 miles and now I've had shin splints for THREE GOD DAMN WEEKS!!! And it won't go away, I keep trying to run and have to tap out before I even hit a half mile. So to the elliptical I go (which I don't mind using but much rather prefer the treadmill) and I try to get my workout that way. I dunno what to do I'm so discouraged, I got into such an amazing groove of running my butt off I don't wanna throw it all away now!!!

So muscles getting tired is not due to lactic acid build up, it’s actually from the body using up electrolytes when your muscles are being used. This is why if you are lifting or running for example it becomes more and more difficult to move your arms or legs, due to the nerve signals from your brain becoming weaker with a lack of evidence.
@bane7074 жыл бұрын
In addition there is no evidence pointing to compressions assisting in recovery. At this moment the scientific consensus is that it is the bellied that’s they help also called the placebo effect which enables people to preform better. I use compressions when I lift and during my lacrosse and football practices, but I know they really don’t do much. The main advantage is that they keep muscles warm in winter. Dismissing science in your videos and replacing it with pseudoscience is not only wrong but making you look dumb to those who actually have invested the time to learn about the body.

I use compression sleeves on my calf muscle area cause my tibialis anterior muscle tend to hurt during cold temps or after unusual excision.

I love the full compression socks and tights! I've found recovery to be much better when I use them. In the fall and winter I wear them daily because of the warmth they also provide. I totally agree with you on the calf sleeves. I had tried them last year and my feet/ankles got super swollen after the longer runs. Great video!

Hi I'm over 40 & work on my feet for 40hrs a week on cement floors. I can do up to 12km per shift. If I don't wear compression tights after the shift I definitely will be in pain. They really do help in recovery especially in calf, hamstring areas. Would be in a lot of pain otherwise 😉 I find they help with circulation & can feel them doing their job

I totally agree with you, yes compression socks work for me 100% during and after long runs. But I wonder if a bottom compression pants might help equally or less?
@HeatherJergensen6 жыл бұрын
I've never tried them, and know few who have. Those that have tried compression pants swear by them for race day, but don't really like wearing them for every run. Thank you for watching!

I'm a bartender and my ankles are always swollen after work. I'm thinking of wearing compression socks while I work because I'm running around for 8+ hours. I don't know much about them or if there is something better like shoe inserts.
@HeatherJergensen5 жыл бұрын
Shoe inserts might help, for sure. I wear custom molded inserts in my running shoes, which will also fit in a wide variety of "everyday" shoes, too. You can get those made at you local running specialty store. Being on your feet all day is certainly challenging. Hope it helps. Thanks for watching!

I have less pain with compression so I think they work in that respect. Maybe the feeling of having various body parts compressed distracts me from the pain.

Any idea if the arm sleeves wet'd will help keep me cool during workout/gardening ? 85-110 Fahrenheit. I wear legging's and long sleeve shirt during winter as I live out side in a tint trailer(I love cold) and it does definitely help circulation as I normally get numb knees from siting to long.

@keeylyme7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this one. You hit my main concern and that was flying after a race. I generally get swelling in my bad ankle regardless and I was concerned about flying after back-to-back race days at Disney. I've used the compression mini socks from Pro Compression but the sizing for their below the knee and calf sleeves would be a bit tight for me.
@HeatherJergensen7 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried ProCompression (I keep seeing their ads). The CEP socks are the best that fit my calves without cutting off circulation. The other thing I would recommend before getting on the plan is lying with your legs up the wall for a few minutes, perhaps before you check out of your room. I'm glad this helped, and thanks for the suggestion!

I love wearing leggings I'm about to buy some Meggings, I think they're one of the healthiest pants, guys should wear on their bodies, just tight enough to keep a good circulation Wall, being breathable all-around your lower body prevents swamp crotch, (it's not good all if you have it). The cooler guys are on their lower bodies the more they produce testosterone and stuff that help men who want to be men, secondary to that are running shorts “we need a lot of air, hahaha.”

I have worn CEP calf sleeves while sleeping, especially during high-volume training cycles. I've also worn CEP full socks, but find them a bit warm. I wouldn't wear other brands, though as I find them uncomfortable for anything but running. Thank you for watching!

1. Does compression gear reduce muscle the pain form muscle soreness? Yes 2. Does compression gear aid in blood circulation? No LOL If you want to increase blood circulation try removing clothing, 3. Does compression gear increase in performance? No 4. Does compression gear increase recovery? No I know what some of you pea brains might be thinking, how can it reduce muscle soreness but not increase recovery? the pressure applied to the body by compression is like message it reduces the pain from the workout, But it in no way increases the rate of muscle repair. some of you lesser pea brains may want links to research supporting.......
