Absolutely spot on buddy well said in a nutshell once your passion becomes work you loose that edge of distinction you once had i believe in individually designed and painted lures one you cant go buy anywhere as these are something you cant buy from any department or tackle stores keep up your awsome work you have so many brilliant techniques to show and teach and each video so much learning to be had well done and thankyou for the honesty , even as we make mistakes instead of editing out its great to see you recover and rectify the problem as we aren't all perfect and errors happen its how you deal with it that shows your integrity buddy nice love your content

Sounds like you also have your share of experience in "passion becomes work" 😉 Thank you so much for the heart warming words Tony! Really! I always try to keep it real and honest, no click baiting,lies or editing out mistakes. I want to be proud of what i make and post here, No to hard edited, fake or deceiving videos, at the end of the day I would only feel bad about it and not being able to be proud of it and who I would be then. Cheers Buddy and thanks again for the beautiful comments!

Thank you very much! I completely agree with you - the main thing is that a hobby does not become a job, otherwise interest will disappear and quality will decrease. At the same time, it is not possible to do manual work faster than in automatic large-scale productions

Everything in this video is true - well done sir! Tip #2 is golden. It is the essence of mass production going all the way back to Henry Ford and others of the industrial age.

you said well about number one as fast as possible and it looks better, I agree, I'm making a stencil template, for each model I will have approximately three stencils, I don't know yet, I haven't finished, and the stencil will be built in two parts for the left side and the right side, and be If the left side of the stencil is attached to the holder and the right side to the other holder, I hold the holder, insert the soft bait, close it and fly over it with the air brush. I happened to run into a Chinese factory where they do this, so I picked it up from them

Couldn't agree with you more, all very good advice buddy. I only use the Megabass Oneten blanks as that's what people want in my area for salmon fishing. I match most of the Megabass patterns and paint them in bulk just like you advised. Retail Megabass lures are around £30 dollars so I sell mine real cheap at less than half that. I always say that fish can't see the price tag so why pay £30 for a lure as they are only pieces of plastic and mine are exactly the same as the branded ones. I also mention that mine are epoxy coated so will last twice as long as any retail lure. Another thing I say is you can cast my lures into any rough ground and if you lose one then it wont break the bank. When buyers read that sort of thing it makes them think about it and once they buy one and see the quality they come back for more plus they recommend you to their friends. I also paint a lot of Rapala patterns on the Oneten blanks as some anglers like the Rapala patterns but not the blanks so having it on a Oneten gives them the best of both worlds. I also sell mine rigged and they have a choice of 3 treble hooks, singles or a method over here in the U.K. called tay rigged which you really need to check out as it's an excellent method. I still paint plenty of my own patterns and custom make whatever people need. I bought a load of glitter that women use for painting their nails. I add this into the epoxy which really takes the lures to a new level. Keep up the good work buddy, I work long hours on shifts and I paint lures when I get a chance so I don't always have time to comment on your videos so I do apologise.

This was a nice comment to read! Thank you my friend to take the time and talk about your experience. Googled the tay rigged technique, found a Scottish video with ofcourse Oneten lures as an example :D haha Thanks for the tip! Thanks again for the nice comment, really appreciate that! And no need to apologize mate, you have a life too, can´t comment on everyone and everything right 👊!

I order siphon airbrus + 12 glass air brus bottles 0.5 mm+ air brush 0.2mm + airbrush 0.3mm + airbrsh 0,8 mm for flakes haha we think alike, I took all that so that I don't have to change colors and that I can paint faster, I honestly don't know if 0.8mm will be able to shoot holographic glitters etc. but it was included in the package

You are going to well prepared to sell lures 😉It all depends on the size of the holographic glitter, time will tell with trial and error 😊

Im just starting out and really like your Red on Candy2o pattern you did. As for selling, I would be willing to consignment my lures as I dont really want to be a seller. I would just need enough to cover materials.

THank you! Candy2o blood red is a fun paint to play with and it really looks like blood too, perfect for wounds and such 😊 As you get better and your friends start buying more and spread the word it definitely possible to cover the materials , Some are really lucky and achieve this pretty fast. For others it takes years, As long as we get to do what we want and have a good time 😊 that is the most important

Hi man! Depends a little on where you live: In Eurodpe i am one of the only dealers that I know off. In the USA you got a few good ones like backwater outfitting, lurebuild, sugar tits fishing tackle. All reliable small businesses 😉

I paint my own to save money and get the colors I desire. But I have found very few blanks to paint that match the quality and characteristics of the brands sold in stores - that's coming from a fisherman, not a collector. In fact, most lures I see being handpainted aren't worth throwing. The sad truth is that painting lures is a good hobby, but not a really profitable one, unless you're at the top of the pile and selling custom built mega-lures, and even then it's too labor-intensive. Apparently, the money to be made in custom lures is in PRODUCING VIDEOS and being in the top of THAT pile. I hope you're doing well LUREBLANKS! I enjoy your videos.

@@nic7289 it made plenty of sense lol and he's not wrong. Most lure blanks u see online that are basic cranks and jerkbaits are knock off blanks not true blanks from the company and the ones usually buying them really just buy them for the paint Job. There not very effective due to them not being accurate to original blanks with either a louder rattle , less weight or just poor construction. An dont sometimes work as intended due to those issues. Swimbaits is more profitable but. You have to build that reputation where guys trust u painting there $100-200+ lure and get it back in a timely manner. An thats not the collabs some of these guys doing where their painting $5,000+ dollars of lures for a custom swimbait brand.

@@SouthJerseyBaitReviews well no it did not at all . first there is blanks out there that are good you just have to put in the work and find them , he siad painting lures is a good hobby but not profitable one , thats also bullshit . you can lol as much as you want you´re 113 subs don´t make you a pro does it .
@lureblanks

I agree with the fact that many blanks that are KO´s of original lures , rarely come close to the original lure. But on the other hand like Nic said there are very good blanks out there that work amazingly well, I try to find and sort these out and only sell those in the shop. There are people making money with lure painting, and doing well too. But only very few, and if you look at what they often have in common is that they are already painting for a very long time. Just like SouthJersey said it takes time and you need to build a reputation, Have build fame and a large customer base. They work hard and are very active on social media and such which is very time consuming as well. The lure painting market is a saturated place and hard to grow in. It is something not many succeed in. Making videos is not making me much either unfortunately 😉 ( only 5k subs and average less then 1k views per video is nothing for a youtube channel) I hope to grow more and more along the way so that maybe one day it will pay for some costs. I am currently working a new series that hopefully will expand the channel a lot and reach new audiences. Glad you enjoy the videos!! Bottom line is probably that lure painting is a hobby, and such as every hobby they cost money 😄

Yes now you mention it! I forgot about the pressure you can feel, the need for perfection and the frustration that can come with it. Very true too! Nothing as frustrating as a failed paintjob, or a mistake in the clear coat. Clear coats sometimes made me freak out haha 😆 There is solution to every problem, but still people can lose their patience once in a while 😄
