Appreciated, been wanting to paint lures for a while and Vallejo paints look like a great place to get started. Do you also have any recommendations regarding stencils?
@lureblanks22 күн бұрын
That's awesome! Buy some mosquito netting for small scale patterns 💪buy some unions or garlic in the supermarket in one of those nylon nets. Not the easiest to work with but works for larger scale patterns. Go to local hardware stores and look at all the fabrics and filters. Basically any material you can blow paint through could be a potential stencil. Other textile stencils aren't expensive either. I even sell them in my shop. The texture stencils from art tools are amazing too. Use them all the time and beautiful results 👌👌

Your early statement is true. Some people assume that professional photographers never take bad pictures. We do, but the difference is we will never let anyone see our bad pictures. All we post or sell is our best pictures, because that's what people expect from professionals!

Funkar Valleyo färg för softbaits ?
@lureblanks22 күн бұрын

I have been airbrushing lures for a few months now and feel like I am getting a pretty good feel for what my airbrush can and cannot do. Learning about the paints has been frustrating at times. I like Createx paints, but knowing which to choose has taken some time. They make many different types of paint, so figuring out which to use is a journey. For lures, my favorite type so far is their transparent paints, but I have purchased a bunch of different paints and use them all. My advice is to experiment with as many paints as possible. You'll fail frequently, but that's how you learn best. I rarely use thinners, but instead use Createx Transparent Base to thin most of my paints. Thinners tend to make my paints too runny. I also use the transparent base to create paints with mica powders and color-shift pigments. These are crazy-cool products to play with. You can create dazzling colors, but you can also plug up your airbrush if your paint is too thick, or if the powders are too large. Some glitter-type powders require much larger nozzles. Airbrushing lures has been one of the most entertaining hobbies I have ever tried. I hope everyone has as much fun with it as I do. I have about a hundred lures waiting for hooks right now and the collection just keeps growing.

Hey! Awesome work I have two questions how do you get the scale texture like on this lure is that carved into the wood ? For a base cost do you just go over the bare wood without sealing it with the white ? And last what do you use for a clear coat over your finished paint job to seal it
@lureblanks22 күн бұрын
Hey Nick! Thank you 😊 The lure I used was plastic and had the scale texture carved in there. Solarfall baits has some videos showing how you can easily carve scales in wooden lures. It's better to clear or treat your wood first before painting. I have some really old lures laying around here which were not cleared first. What happens is that once your final clear coat gets damaged enough. Water gets in and gets into the wood. Making the wood react (swell,crimp,curl) and then the rest of your clear coat just cracks and peels off. I used uv resin as a final clear for this one 👍

Lureblanks, your statement at the beginning of your video is wrong considering you do not know or your not knowledgeable about certain things about paint. It also is not your fault because you most likely haven't been painting for 35 years either. Wanted to help you with that information. Yes it greatly makes a difference if you are using gloss black or matte finish ESPECIALLY using these 2 products, Wicked Quicksilver and Wicked Gold you definitely need to use the Gloss Black to achieve the effect it's made for. Most importantly is you need to spray both of these paints very very light coats when using them for a couple reasons and there's more. Some of this you will have to learn through trial and error but light coats are essential. Just wanted to help you give the correct information.

What kind of paint do I need to buy?
@lureblanks22 күн бұрын
You could start out with some regular acrylic paints. Any brand will do to just start out with. If you want to invest in quality the look for the paints they use to paint miniatures with in your country 👍 or last option buy some createx airbrush paints. They work great as well with a regular brush 👌

Just bought my first holographic heat transfer foil think it is a vinyl says it's pu for clothes as I couldnt find any other type, I've tryed nail foils and find them difficult also tryed clear holographic adhesive vinyl, wasn't happy with the end result of either, I have a iron also a small craft heat gun just need to get some iron pads, I'm going to be covering some needle jigs no more than 16 cm long and 1 cm wide so not alot to cover, I am very greatful for your video and hope to repeat the process of what you have done, I have an airbrush artist in the family so I be asking him to do some painting once foils are covered thankyou again for your video it's cost me a few pounds and a few jigs to learn the correct way and materials to foil them. I'm not applying direct to metal, just over the topcoat and previous foil and paint... Will let you know how I get on

Do you have any advice on overspray? Every time I try to do a fire-tiger lure, the yellow ends up speckled and looks like a cool ranch Dorito
@lureblanks4 ай бұрын
Haha Sorry the decription was too funny :D! Play with airpressure, Lowering the airpressure might help. But if it is too low then you also get overspray, its finding that sweet spot. Also reducing the paint a bit more might help, that makes it more runny and less particles will float around the air. Let me know if it worked!

Great video as always Don’t want to hijack your video, but I’ve been painting lures about a year now, and there’s some things I wish I knew when I started. As with you, I use nearly all Createx paints. After stocking up with their basic paints, I’ve learned that the regular paints are typically too thick for me to shoot through a .35 needle and are made to work with soft materials like fabric. The Wicked line is thinner and works much better in airbrushes for hard surfaces like lures. For me all Createx paints I’ve tried work better mixed with UVLS and 10% reducer. The UVLS and a little reducer makes a HUGE difference in adhesion, resistance to scratching, and how well the paint flows. I almost never get tip dry now. Works best mixed in a little medicine cup and let it stand 10 minutes to emulsify per Createx instructions. Createx just came out with a new 4021 reducer that replaces every other reducer and paint mixed with it does not have short shelf life like their other reducers. Old reducer makes an excellent airbrush cleaner if you want to use it up Also, you will save yourself a lot of headaches if you keep dried paint off the tops of the bottles. One piece the size of a grain of sand will clog your tip. When guys think they have tip dry I think it’s much more common to have chunks in the paint. If anyone reading this hasn’t watched your video on realistic scales, it’s amazing Thanks for the effort you put into these

Excellent job, I am learning a lot thanks to your videos ! Sorry for my question out of subject : I am living in Thailand, createx paint can't be bought here. I manage anyway to get some, a friend is going to bring to me some but I don't have any createx reducer 4011. Here the most commonly brand available is Vallejo, do you know if createx can be thinned with Vallejo thinner, flow improver? We are talking about water based brands so, no reason why it can't work anyway, cause your experience, you are one of the few lure, video makers doing Vallejo as well, I ask you, may you know. Google research didn't give any proper answer. Thanks 🙏 so much
