Caved in and bought mine earlier today, mainly for the ability to play streets of rage 3 properly, without censorship and insane difficulty. Final fight CD, toejam 2, more shoot em ups I never heard of. This console has me excited to be a Sega fan. I rock my genesis 1 mini constantly, my 6yr old nephew loves these games. It does have a power brick though. You can even see it in the box in your video. It's located at the bottom next to the system. The brick is a little smaller than the first one, I couldn't see the tiny writing on mine well enough to see if there are differences in the specs.

Honestly this is the best mini made. Makes me want a DreamCast or Saturn! I also love that the second one came with a 6 button and the first came with a 3 button. All those small details recreate even more of that nostalgic feeling.

Yeah, the TGCD came out several years before the Sega CD. Almost as soon as the TG16 came out. The Genesis (which came out about the same time as the TG16) had to wait 3 years to get the Sega CD in the US (it did come out the year before in Japan, but the Mega Drive also came out much earlier in Japan than the US). The Genesis came out in August 1989, but the Sega CD came out in late 1992 in the US.

I got mine in the mail yesterday and played it until 1 AM. I am loving the genesis mini 2 right now. Some really awesome games on it and some I've never had the opportunity to play because of their astronomical price. Edit: also mine did come with a power brick. Weird.

probably depends on where you live. they might need additional brick for lets say converting to 220V fro the US 110 or whatever the voltage is across the seas.. dunno just thinkink out loud

@@macweed3358 so in the US we have US Dollars not the pound. The pound is a British currency and is worth approximately on average 1.4 US Dollars. So 50 pounds would be more like 70 US Dollars. However, none of that matters considering that the games were released 30 or more years ago and some are now being sold for 1000 US dollars so I am confused as to the point you were making.

We got our Sega Genesis mini 2 a couple days ago. I preordered as soon as I found out. I am very happy with it, but I do wish there was a few more Sega staples with it as well as a second controller. The emulation was great for most of the games, and I love the dual sound settings.

I APPLAUSE your defense of Virtua Racing against the Star Fox fans. The MD/Genesis version was a HUGE game in the day, forgotten during many years because Sega leave the hardware market in 2001 and lost many followers during many years. I demand a Saturn mini, and it will be awesome if Sega put inside that not only Saturn games, but some games of 32X as a gift: (32X had the same CPU architecture of Saturn, so probably the emulation of 2 is very similar. They even don't need much space : 32X roms take up to 4 MB at max, while a single Saturn CD can take up to 600MB or more).

Proud to own this in all 3 different varients of this mini along with the Cyber Stick, i'd advise you to get the Cyber Stick..it makes such a different for AfterBurner II and even Space Harrier! Agreed it's perhaps the best mini made so far. I loved to Model 1, but the Model 2 mini offers so much more in terms of challenging and varied software, this is for the more experienced gamer for sure that desires a challenge. However it has some nice additions, the easy mode on Phantasy Star II, the choice of Arcade music for Truxton among being able to switch soundtracks on Sonic CD are cool. Not to mention the bonus games are a nice touch!

Awesome video RTG. I do believe that the Turbo CD did release in America before the Sega CD. Regardless, I never had a Sega CD so I will be picking this up. Just wish they had Lunar in the US release.

Thanks for sharing, and I appreciate your feedback! I bought the Mega Drive Mini so I would get the superior 6 button controller to go with the Retrobit blue 6 button I already had. Soft modded it and added more Genesis games and Master System games. A fantastic build and collection of games. Will have to pick this one up for its great collection too, plus much respect for the message In memory of Rieko Kodama who was a huge influence for over 30 years at Sega!

Honestly the Turbo Graphics 16 mini/Core Graphics mini is neck & neck with the Mega Drive Mini II (& no, that’s not how brit’s pronounce “Mega”) for pretty much the same reason. Both were made for the fans, all the easter eggs on the Turbo Graphics 16 Mini & even the 3 shell models show that system was made for fans but Mega Drive Mini II shows the same purpose, to make a mini console for the fans. @RGT 85

I actually plugged mine into my HDMI switch box that I plug old systems to, to output to Mclassic which then goes to a box that tells the Mclassic to upscale to 1440p. So it goes from 720p to 1440p. I use the same conversation process for Switch, Wii U, and PS3.

I actually have a 9ft cord, 6 button Sega branded retro bit controller from around the time the first Sega mini came out. I can attest that this new controller's Dpad is a lot stiffer than the older one. The older one was super sloppy and loose with a lot of play/ movement. The included controller with the Sega mini 2 is very high quality.

I enjoyed the first mini console quite a lot when I played it. But mini 2 looks good too and I plan on picking one up in the UK. Sonic CD, Final Fight CD, Shinning Force CD, Robo aleste, Slipheed, Super street fighter 2, Ristar, earthworm Jim 2, Phastasy star 2, splatter House 2, Bare knuckle 3 make it worth it for me.

The Turbo Grafx Mini does swap over to PC Engine box art and versions if desired, and there are a few games that are different when you do that. I think the number of games on this Genesis Mini 2 is what makes it a decent step up. I’m still waiting for a sale though. We know they could literally put hundreds of games on it.

Not going to go on sale. This is a limited run that's exclusively sold on the Amazon Japan store. Sega couldn't get hundreds of games because they couldn't get the rights to them. The reason the US version doesn't have Lunar 1&2 and Popful Mail is that Sega low ball the English translation rights holder.

No mention of the MARK V? M² remade Space Harrier II with the scaling that was supposed to originally be included in the MARK V AKA Sega Mega Drive hardware, but was ultimately cut to to the costs it would have added. M² also his some nice things in here. Such as overclocking for a few games, such as Thunder Force IV, an Easy mode for Phantasy Star II, and more. That's always nice to see. I like when they go above and beyond of the simple emulation.

Between having the original mini, Nintendo online expansion, and the Sega Genesis collection on Switch I can't see shelling out $100 and waiting for shipping from Japan to the east coast. Maybe if it was available here at a lower price. I picked up the online controller which works great and is wireless. It also works with the Genesis collection.

Got mine a couple days ago. Now have Nes, SNES, PS1, Sega 1 and 2 mini's. Actually multiples of each except the sega mini 2. Nes, snes and ps1 are modded. Haven't opened the Sega's yet. Got 2 sega 1 minis for $32 each on Amazon back in early 2020. They are still in the brown Amazon box, lol. I play on a sega version 1 with everdrive and hd retrovision cable mostly. Don't get me started on all the other Atari-PS5 collection. I may have a problem.
