Thank you so much for posting this!! I've been trying to research different companies and I always feel like I have a knot in my stomach, because a lot of places sound to good to be true. I know a company wants to present themselves in the best light to get customers/employees, but I also want to find information from people who have worked there to get an idea of what I'm going into. But usually I see a lot of reviews that either don't include the downsides or gloss over them, rather than go into depth. You clearly care about teaching and making a positive impact on your students, and I wish I'd had more teachers like you when I was a student. Thank you again!

I've worked with them for over a year and half and last Friday in the middle of doing shift all my classes were transferred to another teacher, without me requesting so. I am no longer getting any bookings and there isn't one member of staff that will respond to my emails. Literally nothing has been communicated to me about why.

@@SimonHillKeepsItTrill I received a response four days later, my classes were transferred due to a missed class. A system that has been to help teachers resolve technical issues without missing multiple classes. Makes sense, the four days of no communion don't however.

@@KellyRodriguez-il3pu I highly doubt that will do anything. Firstly Twenix is a private company (not a public education organisation). Secondly teachers are not employees, they are contract workers and their fire legally can have their contracts terminated at any point for any reason or can never receive any work after signing the contract. Is it morally right? Definitely not, but it's not illegal. The problem with ESL market (especially online) "schools" and businesses first educators second. Not the other way around.

Simon, THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video!! My best friend shared it with me and, because of this, I won't follow up with the application for this scam. I'm so grateful that you have told us about all the small script of this job. Nobody in the application tells you that they use such ratings!! Like you said, it's totally impossible and super stressful. I don't wanna loose my health to these exploitative people. They are spreading their offers in Argentina, because there's a lot of unemployment and any pay in dollars or euros sounds awesome here, but it's all a grose facade, as usual. "First world" exploiters making use of "third world" needs. Everything to continuously feed the disgusting systems. Thank you, Simon, for speaking out for "developing countries" citizens, too. Many blessings to you. Let's pray for all of us teachers who are exploited, to become free from this oppression. Thank you again.

It seems to me there are too many exploitative online ESL companies out there. Like many other things, education has become a cash cow for rorters. It's also a shame to see many new tutors accept such low pay and, in many cases, actively lower their rates themselves just to get a class! I've seen some posting hourly rates as low as $2! That's a race to the bottom folks. It also makes it difficult for qualified teachers to get paid properly. Naturally, many rogue online companies will choose to book lower rate tutors, ruining the industry for everyone.

Just to add, I wasn't implying Twenix was one of those exploitative companies. I don't know the company personally. My comment was more of a general reaction from observations of other KZbinr posts where they talk about rates of class/hourly pay and expectations around those.

Thank you for the video. I was about to continue with the application process but forget it now. I am not wasting my time on that. I need a real ESL job, I want to be able to buy my kids a nice Christmas gift.

Whoa! I'm a fellow ESL teacher watching this video who was literally seconds away from following up on the offer Twenix made by making the sample videos they ask for. I agree on the point that they lure teachers with their rates and the incentives, and it's pretty alarming to hear you mention all the fine print - I mean, only .30 and after 1500 sessions?! Jeez! The insane turnover you talk about also speaks volumes to me now, because in their "info pack" they casually mention that basically you'll never follow up with any students as they will always have a new teacher for each session and I was wondering why. Thanks for your breakdown (and rant) about this company which definitely has succeded in steering my online teaching interests to greener pastures. Cheers man and God bless!

Late stage capitalism is slowly and surely killing us all. Your passion is amazing and teachers are my favorite people for all the right reasons. Companies are soul sucking entities that exist for only one reason, to churn out a profit on the backs of replaceable workers while compensating them as little as possible.

I'm with you Sir Simon with your grievances. I'm Filipino and used to work as an Online English Teacher for many years. Yet, I'm currently working to a different company, a Chinese company. I also felt with your emotions Sir that even though we're giving our hundred percent and loyalty to the company but still isn't quite enough. Besides, the feeling that we're been just used, exploited, mistreated and not well-compensated by our effort. We don't deserved it definitely! Thank you for this video Sir. I felt that I'm not alone regarding this matter. Take care and God Bless us all Sir!

These online companies and schools in SE Asia are full of NNES because some of them are my friends haha There was a time in China when you would be surprised to have a Filipino (for example) working in your team. Now, in a team of 10 you can expect most of them to be NNES. I don't blame the NNES they get way more money than they would back home. But they and Europeans and Africans have been driving down the hourly rates for over a decade. Now the market is saturated with people who will work for peanuts. I doubt ANY qualified (QTS) from the UK/USA etc works at these language school mills.

The sad thing is I swear I watched this video some time ago and somehow forgot it. I was lured into this job and wasted my time and energy applying. What a waste! The pay that is advertised does not match what they offer you. I saw $14-16/hr which didn't sound bad. When they replied to my application they excitedly welcomed me and offered my 8€/hr to start which is 4€ for 26 minutes. What is that??

the application process looks too clinical.. they ask you to submit a self made video demonstrating how you would handle 2 different students (you need to pretend the students are there with you). I've had many interviews for Englsh teaching jobs and almost all require a demo lesson with a real person.
