Not anti sampling at all but, if you put the time into learning an instrument, it’ll pay back dividends for years to come. Extremely well worth the effort for those interested.

I think using loops can be like collab with another producer, you take that piece of composition and make it your own, make what you hear already in your mind or what you wanna hear

Yeah we can't forget that a whole genre of music (Hip-Hop) was built off of the artform of sampling and that's what made it one of the most diverse styles of music ever! Music will always take something old and make it new, we should actually be thankful of that too!

I need to learn more about sampling. Not experienced a bit, but have the beats in my mind constantly.
@fkeita677 ай бұрын
Sampling is identical to a scientist collecting samples of various vegetative specimens, except with sampling, you will never know what the final product will be until you make many experiments. You have to have total or almost total control of your daw or machine. Otherwise, it's going to be confusing and make you wanna quit. The only tip I have for you is do not give up, but do not try to overdo either. Take a break if it starts getting too overwhelming and come back later.

@@Morali-D My pleasure brother, one last thing i would like to add. Scientists make medecine for all sorts of things nowadays, make sure yours is made to lead our people further into a truth that is rarely being talked about in the mainstream ;). and also, you must go under the wave if you don't want to drown while resisting the unmanageable current! :) May the Lord show you the way 🙏🏾

My number 1 tip? You might like the vibe or rhythm of a sample, but double check that there aren't any strange frequencies or fx in a loop that will mess up your final mix. You want to be able to blend all of your sounds together without too much stress.

yeah listeners don't give a shit. you learn it fast when you work on something for days and it gets 20 plays lmfao. And you don't think about how much time or effort something took or if loops were used or whatever when you're staring at that cover art on spotify! All you care about is if you like what you're hearing or not.

Can I play devils advocate? Lol and I promise L Dre this isn’t a bash so please read! Lol You said you busted out the guitar for an ed talenti video but eventually decided against it telling yourself “what would the listeners prefer?” You ever think that maybe focusing on the listener becomes an excuse at a certain point? You explained earlier in the year that you wanted to learn the keys, giving me the vibe that you don’t want to have to rely on samples forever. So to see this video now makes me think you are trying to convince yourself that you are perfectly fine with just using samples and trying to rationalize it by using the listeners as the excuse that it doesn’t matter in the end. I just want to state that I think it’s TRUE! In the end the listener isn’t focused on the back end (most of the time) but you expressing the want to learn keys, speaks of something you want for yourself. It’s not always about the listener. And this is something you hear a lot from musicians. I’m sure we are all familiar with the quote “the listener doesn’t know what they want till you give it to them” bringing an importance to not always focus on the listener and to make music you are happy with, and I think this fits this scenario as well. L DRE, I have a beat that I would love to send you in a dm (I don’t actually expect to send it to you, but if you are genuinely interested I can send you the link through dm on instagram). I have never learned an instrument but I have guitars and midi keyboards. I had a singer ask for an indie rock type of beat (mind you I don’t have the slightest clue how to play a guitar, despite having them) this was during the time Jaden smith had released cabin fever and indie rock was on a rise. Normally It’s bad to accept a request you have no idea how to complete (and he really had no business asking me of all people to do this for him), but I was hooked on the sound myself and told the singer straight up I don’t even make those kinds of beats let alone have ever utilized a guitar in that fashion but Im down to try. I spent THREE days learning indie chords and essentially how to “cheat” the guitar. And in those three days I developed an indie rock beat that till this day is one of the most proudest beats that I’ve ever made. If I looked for the closest excuse, that gem wouldn’t exist today, and I think turning to excuses when it gets tough can sometimes rob you of part of the joy of making music. I’ll finish off by stating that I’m not against sampling, but if you have an interest in learning an instrument be careful when justifying to yourself reasons why it’s a waste of time. Cause it can really rob you of something greater. And this goes for a lot of things. Ps. l Dre if you do want to hear this said beat I’ve hyped up quite a bit I may be able to give you some advice on learning the keys on some things, if you want as well. From another musician who doesn’t know any instruments, but has picked up quite a few things along the way that has helped me tremendously.

I hear you and I agree too that’s why I said I encourage everyone learn music theory at some point but to just not let that hold them back from just creating. I do want to learn keys but I’m also confident I could have a long happy career if I didn’t learn it too
@ThisIsDLSMade6 ай бұрын
@@ldre_tv I appreciate you for reading that whole speel lmao. I don’t doubt that you or anyone could, I was just pointing out that you probably could have made a banger guitar beat if you stuck with it for that ed talenti video. I think taking the context of the listener in perspective is a solid point, which is also what makes it such a good excuse, and why you chose not to to stick with your initial idea of using a guitar. I think if you want to learn keys are just learn how to navigate a keybed better, the listener excuse can be very detrimental to that kind of process though. But it all depends on the goal really. Regardless like you said anyone can be fine just using samples and I actually love that sampling is on the rise cause it really opens the gate for anyone to create music. I think over time samples can be a bit limiting though and provides less control over the composition which is probably one of the reasons you started floating the idea of learning keys.

If you post your beat, sound, loop whatever on a site, I'm using your shit with no restrictions. I won't take a whole beat and claim it's mine but I will take as much as 4 bars of a sound or drum and use the shit out of it. It's not like when we had to hide samples off of records by chopping and layering and pitching etc. Ay the same time I don't call myself a producer. I'm a DJ organizing samples to create something new. I'm not a musician either.
