I made a small mistake while editing this video. The peroxide molecule shown at the (0:48) mark is technically incorrect. The red is oxygen, and the white is the hydrogen.

You should link to that fancy measuring cup. I've not seen that before :)

For fixing anaerobic soil, does the soil need to soak in the peroxide/water mix for a while or is just pouring the solution into the soil good enough?
@Dr.Warren4 ай бұрын
Pouring is good enough. Most of the oxygen is going to release in the first 2-3 minutes.

Thank you! I've "heard" about the uses of hydrogen peroxide for years. I haven't used it because I don't like to try new things unless I've done my research or observed someone else do a deep dive into it. Thanks for your content!

My yews are turning orange! Can I use peroxide on them…and if so how much?
@Dr.Warren3 ай бұрын
Perhaps? I would have to do some research

Doesn't Hydrogen Peroxide cause steel to rust more quickly? School chemistry would suggest so. I think I'll stick to alcohol for cleaning. Great info though. Thanks

Alcohol works and I do use it to clean tools as well. Peroxide could potentially rust. It is most likely to do so under acidic conditions.

I've been using a 1:4 ratio of 3% peroxide to water as suggested by other KZbin channels. Is this concentration too strong?
@Dr.Warren4 ай бұрын
If its just for soil contact I think you will be ok. Just now at those levels you are killing off all your soil microbes. I would be hesitant to have foliar contact at a 1:4 ratio. Depending on the species of plant it may scorch the leaf material.

I am having problems with what I believe is potting soil that was contaminated with bacteria that is killing off my plants. They were fine until I repotted them and now the leaves are turning black and drying out or turning yellow and drying out.

(Just btw, in the hydrogen peroxide chemical drawing, the red parts are Oxygen and the white parts are Hydrogen.)
