You guys! I totally know what you mean about the sunshine. I grew up in the "Valley of the Sun" aka Phoenix Arizona Metropolitan area, specifically Mesa, AZ 🇺🇸 Growing up 35 years in the desert 🏜 where we'd get maybe 30 days of rain per year (that's totally a guess, I have no idea, but it's not much lol) I moved to Vancouver, WA, 🇺🇸 7 years ago. Y'all! It took me at least 5 years to acclimate to the darkness. Those winters full of S.A.D. were horrendous. I've been on the mend the last 2 years and this year was the easiest winter yet. Living without vitamin D can be super debilitating. All of that to say yes!! Chase the sun! Let's go! 😁 mental health comes first💜

We are not full time van lifers but are off on a 10 trip around the Eyre Peninsula you talked about. Haven’t been there for 30 years so really looking forward to it. Gemma you must still be in hysterics after hubby's classic "loch doon" joke ! ahem. I know I couldn't contain myself . hahaha Seriously, the UK has taken a battering lately . I know Storm Eunice did a number on England and Wales especially last week. But I'm glad the skies brightened for you at least for abit...letting yet more of Scotland's splendor behold us. Incredible. Lovely looking lighthouse (you know me and lighthouses by now :)) The goats and deer...oh yes too cute!

Hi Gemma and Campbell. I talked with my husband about the problems you are having with the wind and you not being able to sleep. He suggested some heavy duty jack stands at the rear of your motor home ( Ellie). Its a bit of a pain, but it might make for a better night sleep. We really love watching your adventures. Just back in Cornwall from 2 weeks in Scotland, Fort William, Inverness areas, beaten stupid by gales, rain & Snow! But awesome time, T Shirt weather down here makes a nice change, used campsites almost every day so we could use our electrics and keep our batteries full, as no sun for our solar. Price of sites dearest £22 mostly £18, we feel that’s better for winter, most sites empty. 😎

Hi Gemma and Campbell I can remember caravanning in the early 70's with my late parents and even then it was easy to move around as there were few tourists which was brilliant. Palnackie on the southern coast was one of our favourites and Castle Douglas a beautiful little town. Hope that it is getting a bit warmer for and less rainy for you now. Regards Crawford, exiled Scot of many years.PS If you want warmer weather head to West Sussex!

And mild aswell, although no where near as mild as the previous 2 winters, I was literally going around in a t-shirt it was so warm the past couple of winters and I hate that! Honestly guys the weather has been 80% rain and Wild Wild Winds. My motorhome was like being in a washing machine on fast spin!!!! I thought I was going to end up dead while driving. I gave up and arrived back home in the real South, no different here either. I hated coming back home but a good night's sleep was really needed. So good luck and if possible bring us southerner some good weather. Safe traveling guys.

Hari OM Even for a place that is known for its rain, I have to say this winter ahs been exceptionally wet - and dark. I was actually pondering (day dreaming) the other day about van life during such times and knowing February to be almost always the worst month, whether it wouldn't be best to find a tame farm with a spare shed to hunker down in for the month each year. Paying a seed rent for use of water and electricity. I say this because that is what my parents did - my first six years of life were spent in a caravan! The folks had three farms on which they stayed extended periods. Made life-long friends with the farmers, too... Anyhoo - hope you find something worth cheering in Sasanachland. YAM xx

I’m glad you’ve said that. We’ve not spent a winter in Scotland in 7 years and we were really trying to think if it was always storm after storm like this or whether we were just noticing it more being in the van! It could be a good idea! We just had a number of work commitments that were meaning we had to travel around quite a bit! Hopefully we are starting to see spring coming soon 🥰

Also scunnered with the constant rain. At least as a child we had autumn storms followed by proper snowy winters then warm spring rain. Now it's constant wind and rain. Getting us down too.

Yeah we really don’t mind winter but it’s the constant wind and rain that’s been difficult. Too warm for it to snow too! Spring is round the corner now though 😊

The Americans whom live at the caravan sites normally move to warmer states of the need too.some camp site closed over winter. So best live down south when winter then back to up north when summer. Like that saves money on heating..etc

Hi Gemma and Campbell,, I want to inform you of this legal information that you can if you choose to use it to your advantage,, if the registered keeper of your vehicle is in Scotland, then any parking tickets or parking rules in England and wales with the exclusive exception of the square mile of the CITY of LONDON, have no legal standing (jurisdiction)to enforce any said tickets, including councils, they can issue vehicles with tickets and chase said tickets up for payment, but they don’t have any legal remedy to collect payment without your consent ,they have no cross border jurisdiction, it’s a handy bit of information that most folk don’t know and you can research this information for yourselfs, it’s handy for any your visits down south, love your content and just subscribed ,,👍👍👍,
