Oh wow 🌟 I remember discovering your channel way back when, and it's been quite the journey following you since the very beginning. 💕 Your content has always had a unique charm, and I've cherished every upload. Lately, though, I've noticed a subtle shift since you moved to Bali. 🏝️ It's natural for creators to evolve and explore new horizons, but I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic for the vibe your Singapore videos had. There was something truly special about your content from that chapter of your journey. Don't get me wrong, your Bali adventures are beautiful, and the scenery is breathtaking! 🌺 However, it seems like the magic that made your videos stand out has become a bit diluted. I've noticed other KZbinrs covering bali with a more unique and concrete perspective, making it a tad challenging to distinguish your unique touch. Change is part of life, and I respect your decision to explore new places and experiences. Maybe there's a way to infuse a bit of that old spark into your current content? It's the essence of what drew so many of us to follow you in the first place. Just some food for thought! 🌈 Wishing you all the best on your continued journey. ✨

Still enjoy Georgia's videos but I agree, as someone that has been to neither country, I think it's just that Singapore has a charm to it that can't be replicated. Those videos where she would just stroll the streets of Singapore and go to cute little cafes, that vibe is just irreplaceable

We recently left SG after 8 years. Still love the place but things you are saying definitely resonated post covid. Our rent almost doubled and food and utility costs were continuing to rise (although the latter seems to be the case in many countries). We ended up making the call to move back to NZ. Thankful we got those years there and hope to come back some day!

Is it not easy to explore Malaysia from Singapore? Or even nearby countries, like Indonesia or The Phillipines? I imagine it was a lot harder during Covid but is it generally hard anyway? Does Singapore have a difficult reltionship with these countires, particularly Malaysia?

I think it's more about being able to settle roots there? Very unlikely to be able to get PR or citizenship after eight years or so, whereas if you'd stay in the UK or Australia for that long then you'd likely be able to convert and make it your permanent home. :)@@JoeChanTV

You are right, it would definitely take a pandemic to truly see what type of government it is in Singapore, not so much about being good or bad, it is what it is, so boils down to how friends from overseas living here would adjust themselves into the changes during a tense period. I can imagine how much of a shock it would be for someone who wasn't born into such a regiment. But anytime it will still remain welcoming to invite everyone back again! :)

As a Singaporean I agree with you. I have seen many of my foreigner friends got their work pass discontinued and just abandoned by their companies. It is not just Corp world. Small businesses are also like that. You cannot expect companies to love you as they are not living beings. The best way is to always plan ahead and prepare a plan B.

Recommendation to Georgia. Understand that many Americans forget the Sing Dollar, or other Dollars are not the same value as USD. Consider overlaying a USD when introducing rent or other monetary info. Simply no change needed, just put the USD equivalent in the bottom corner of your screen?

Imo, shifting to Bali is definitely the right choice for you.. Singapore is not a good country to live a good life, it's always work n making money. There's no life, it's boring n regimental. Rental is very high n buying a property is even more expensive. It's only good for raising a family as it's a pretty safe country.

Hey Georgia! I'm a viewer from Singapore and have always loved your videos. Bummed to see you leave but also glad that you have settled in your new home in Bali. Being a Singaporean I totally relate on the part of being restricted... till the extent where I feel most of us have imposter syndrome or just living life for the sake of others/ society. Fortunately I work for a European company and has the privilege of working away (overseas) for a 3-4 weeks period, and I've been thinking of Bali as my destination for it - would you recommend? Just wondering how will the cost be when it comes to accomodation and daily expenses. P.S. Would love to see you do a video with your boyf! :)

If you arent local, expats need a minimum amount of money to survive due to living expenses, international schools are horrifically expensive. Agree on the control element, sometimes you feel you can't breathe. However, i miss a lot of things, like the fact everything just worked, the infrastructure is amazing. If you are local it is definitely viable, but as a foreigner as you cant buy a house and put down roots it is difficult. We lasted 4 years.

@SuccessforLifester Singaporeans self police and film even smallest infraction, then it goes round country on WhatsApp. It is what it is. In other countries rules are more flexible or not implemented by the letter.

@@davidh4632 I guess this is because there is no major crimes and petty matters get recorded. But petty matters are recorded all over the world. Flexibility would affect the legitimacy of the laws and open it up to corruption. Personally I feel that many laws here are not enforced enough. Many people are unhappy about the traffic situations and things like smoking and littering.

About elderlies working in Singapore... because they came from the post-war era where life was hard and they learnt to be responsible making their own living. They grew up doing basic jobs and even though they now probably have a paid-up home and kids grown up and able to take care of them - they still really want to be independent and not burden their grown-up kids to take care of them.... Kids in Singapore are well, too spoilt and taken care of, hardly anyone really needs to work to pay for school, even if they do work, most are doing it because their parents want them to experience life, rather than they really have to. Of course these are generalisation, but that's in general... not to say there aren't outliers. Owning a car isn't too bad in Singapore - yea expensive, it will cost $1.5-2k/month, but not unattainable (oops, for Singaporeans who don't have to pay rent.. haha), its because too many can afford them that makes them so expensive.

Yes, after one week, or maybe one month, one finds Singapore a terribly boring place. There are no place to go other than Botanic Garden, MBS, Sentosa, and such. That is why Singaporeans work so hard, not to make money, but rather to kill time. That is also the reason that Singaporeans vacation overseas, not at time. If they stay home, they just get bored to death.

So that's true rules in Singapore, like not being able to feed pigeons, can't sing in public, etc? It's like no freedom. In Indonesia, it's very simple, you just need to respect each other and don't do drugs 😃.
@SuccessforLifester
@SuccessforLifester 4 ай бұрын
There are reasons behind the rules. The pigeons rule is because they proliferate very well in an urban settings. It could lead to over population of pigeons at the expense of other species. The singing in public, say with an elaborate speaker and mic needs to be controlled for public order. You can sing casually without any issues.
