That's the exact reason I never bought this plane. I frequently need to battle with wind here and this one just wouldn't cut it. I recently went with the Finwing Albabird which is brilliant for its huge speed envelope and cruise efficiency. Cheers, thanks for posting another great vid.

Hey jd have you tried removing as much weight possible off the tail you want to keep most of your weight by the CG kind of like a trailer keep your weight by the axles, laminate it, and go with a T motor F20 just what I've learned I must say it's a glider style if you want more power try out the zohd dart 250g its everything your looking for and more.

since getting my dart250, my drift has only flown on windless mornings. If they made it slightly larger and with a rudder and flat wing with maybe dihedral in the tips ill be in line waiting to buy it! Still LOVE my drift, but wind compass was spot on. The Dart 250 with slightly larger vertical stabilizers is honestly more fun than my nano goblin just because its such a better looking plane IMO! Ill admit im a sucker for the ZOHD build aesthetic and black and white color scheme though hahah

I think it maybe because of the wings are tilted up, I never paid attention to the issue but your video really makes me want to try a flat wing mod on the drift.

the flight audio is absoulte crap! to each his own though! lowering it nearly all the way or completly and some music is how tis done. Had to turn audio off while watching lol!

ive been flying mine pretty fine, landing was hard, would glide forever. Its a light plane so flying is high winds will be hard and not fun

So 5" on 3s no problem?

@@distrofpv672 1408 2400kv motor. The stock motor 1406 2600kv should be okay on using the 5x5 prop on 3s. But do not hold full throttle or high throttle for too long.

Different planes for different styles of flying you wouldn't wear dress shoes to play basketball in they would work in a pinch but not optimal.

I think you guys expectations for these foam planes are way too high. They are foam planes that weigh in many cases less than 10 pounds and to boot, 3 foot wing span. Come on now how do you really think these feather weight planes are going to handle in anything more than 5 mph winds. Regardless of what manufacturer say we're taking a risk with these things trying to take them out further than eyesight. Physics is not on our side, you want stability you want a solid platform that don't stray all over the place, then there's no substitute for Mass.

Not really to high at all when you have models like the nano talon evo or nano goblin that can fly extremely well in any winds.... Flying a 10 pound plane is old school. Its 2020 friend.

@@JD_1 lol, oh I'm sure you can fly then in 20 or even 30 mph winds but not without a fight. I know because I fly giant scale warbirds that are 80+ ws and my planes are 20+ pounds. People tell me my planes are heavy but I like them that way because they don't move around a lot on those hot windy days. Where ever I put them, they stay. Now I also fly foamies . Non stay put when the winds pick up. I must say though jets and the slick ones do handle better in the wind. But they all still move around.

Most pilots avoid windy days for that reason. Very light weight planes are more difficult to fly in any windy condition.

2 to 4 mph wind you try to avoid?? Not much of a pilot you are referring too 😉 Nano Goblin and the mini ar are smaller than the drift and can fly in much higher winds.

JD I can fly and jerk with the left at 2-4 mph, that’s on the daily.
