This doesn’t work though because in day of the doctor Kate says Jack donated his vortex manipulator to the black archive. Clara then used it to go back in time and we don’t know what happened to it after that but I can’t imagine it getting back into Jacks hands.

Theory, there is actually only one vortex manipulator. People just keep stealing and selling it at different points in time that people think there are a bunch of them. What does this add to Doctor Who lore? .. Good question.

Unless said Vortex Manipulator is constantly changed, I'd argue no. Just because Jack's Vortex Manipulator is completely different to John's. Ranging from both size and capabilities. Some can do more than others (suggesting more were made with different updates). Some are also tougher than others. Whilst most Vortex Manipulators can be destroyed with explosives, Jack's Vortex Manipulator appears stronger and can withstand being in the centre of an explosion without it damaging the main components. The only thing that needed to be replaced was the strap. A Dalek weaponry can also damage Jack's Vortex Manipulator, but he always seems to be able to recover it eventually. I'd say Jack's Vortex Manipulator is one of the most psychically tough ones from the Time Agency.

Before Torchwood existed and we had only seen series 1 Jack, I would have opted for the Time Agency being a more obvious spinoff for him yet we got Torchwood. So maybe RTD may not actually deliver this so called Unit spinoff but give us something else that we didn't know we wanted in a similar capacity to what a Unit spinoff would be as he did say the spinoffs they're making aren't the ones being supposedly thrown around right now.

yeah at 7:40 when you mention Dorium Maldovar selling a vortex manipulator to River, then him commenting : from a handsome time agent, knowing nuwho I bet it was to indicate that Dorium is homosexual or bisexual/pansexual. AND make the joke "OFF the wrist I said", to indicate he was unhappy and shocked at "what's in the box"... cuz this means the forearm was there freshly dead rotting flesh... (imagine if they said, "it was in the betelgeuse cluster" ... freshly dead, betelgeuse :P I am quite happy with this geek joke) (le livre des morts de fraiche date was the betelgeuse in-world lore book)

I reckon Vinda from flux and everything to do with the grand serpent was supposed to be the time agency and would have had jack involved with it but with the controversy with John barrowman they didn't mention it. (just head cannon for me) From Vinda having a vortex manipulator, cruel punishments and all the corruption it could easily have been the time agency.

I always laughed at the Legends-Who actor crossover. You've got Arthur, who played both Rory and Rip going time traveling. Caity Lotz is Sarah Lance who's mom in Arrow was played by Alex Kingston (River Song, Rory's daughter). Someone surely decided to have fun with the connections, because it does kind of seem like Rory traveling with his granddaughter much the same way the Doctor traveled with his granddaughter in the beginning. And Sarah being a (former) member of the League of Assassins - totally could picture River Song's daughter doing something like that. I was always disappointed that they never got Alex to make an appearance on Legends. She could have made a quip about how much Rip looked like Sarah's grandfather.

Was Captain John Hart an actual Captain or was it a pseudonym like Captain Jack used? John does wear a military style jacket like Jack does. Jack's is clearly a WW2 style coat because that's where he settles after his memories are stolen but John's red jacket is clearly from an earlier time era. His looks more like the Jackets used by soldiers between the 16th and 19th centuries so that tells me that like when Captain Jack settled in WW2, Captain John Hart must have at some point landed and settled somewhere in that era of history. And if this was the case he could have done something similar to Jack and taken the name Captain John Hart from a dead soldier. At some point in history there must have been a genuine military Captain named John Hart and then the Captain John Hart we know must have done what Jack did and landed in that era of history and stolen that name from that soldier. From all the time agents you mentioned in this video I think Captain Jack and Captain John are the only ones with this kind of military rank but like Jack's is stolen. He wasn;t actually a Captain so was it the same for John?

John says to Jack "what are you wearing?" and jack then replies "Captain Jack Harkness, note the stripes". John then replies "Captain John Hart, note the sarcasm". They clearly used fake names a lot which his why Jack replied with a name instantly. So if they use fake names a lot, it is safe to say that John is also a fake name.
