Kanan Jarrus (aka Caleb Dume), sacrifices his life to save his friends during the episode Jedi Night in Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels. Here I breakdown what exactly happened, and go as far in depth as I can I get into the subject given time constraints. #shorts

It's worth noting that Kanan foresaw his death in the Force, accepted his fate, and was thus able to tweak the circumstances of his death to save his loved ones. The Force even granted him his sight in those final moments. That was his final lesson to Ezra, who did something similar to defeat Thrawn because he accepted his own fate.

Kanaan is such an underrated character. If order 66 hadn't happened when it did we wouldn't ever have known how great of a Jedi he was. And people say Rebels is dumb… I love the metaphor of his hair. If you think about it, they use his hair and beard to represent the weight he carries, the more he goes through, the thicker he grows his beard out. And in that episode, he comes to peace with himself and everything he struggles with, so he shaves it all off, no longer constrained by the weight of his past.

And he to Yoda explained that there are two aspects to the force. The living force generated by all living things and the cosmic force into which the living force flows. And Jedi who preserve their concioussness after dying iirc merge with the living force rarher than other who merge with the cosmic force.

I don't even know what this is or where this happens in star wars lore, but that writing was so simple yet beautiful. The underdog getting a kamikaze power boost to save his friends is nothing new. That little tid bit where he was blind, temporarily regaining his eyesight to see the person he loves and is making the sacrifice for completely changed everything. That was very moving.

His death is a strong reference to Shu from the Hokuto No Ken/Fist of the North Star anime who like Kanan was also a blind noble warrior and temporarily managed to regain his eyesight in moments before his death.

Kanan Jarrus, born Caleb Dune died arguably the most honourable death. He may have stumbled along the way, but in the end he knew what he needed to do. He sacrificed himself to save the rebellion. Seeing Hera one last time was the force allowing him his final wish. What an amazing character.

The force rewards those who make the greatest and hardest sacrifices that aren’t selfish. Rewarding them with powers far beyond anything they could ever do but it also cost them their lives. My belief is that the force is related to how long they will live. Someone who’s extremely powerful in the force could technically live far past their normal time of death but the more they stress their body in the force the less life they have and giving it all to save those closest to them or save the one thing they swore to protect. The force rewards them with all the power they could ever have at once but at the coast of wasting away their life meaning they have just mere moments let to live but rewarding them with eternal peace after they pass on.
