The grinding sound was likely the fuel system running out of fuel. A combination of the fuel pump running dry and small amounts of fuel in the lines going to the injectors spurting into the injectors in between air getting into the injectors.

What will be interesting with the sub 7 ring journey would be a comparison to how different the various Michelin tyres perform from cup2 R, cup2, pilot sport S, pilot sport, etc. A road legal tyre is covers a wide bandwidth of performance so some context to what different sport biased tyres provide

always have an obd scanner in the car to scan and delete dtc codes. that helped me multiple times when the car decided to throw a tendrum and not run right. After deletimg the codes it ran fine and the error did not come back

The moral of the story is park it on a level piece of tarmac 😂 interesting fact on the M3Touring if you run low on fuel it limits revs and power to just 3,000rpm just like EV style

That's mental! If it says 30-40 miles of range, that shouldn't be an issue. But if the car needs more fuel to work properly, then they should have calibrated the low fuel warning to come on earlier, with more fuel in the tank and it also should show a lower range left until empty, so the owners don't run it to such a low level of fuel.

If Jimmy Broadbent can be within around 5 seconds of a 24h winning legend Manuel Metzger, in a faster-that-GT4 car, it's not unreasonable to give James 10 or 15 seconds from a Porsche factory driver and car. Manthey isn't going to bleed any time on their side, though, so I would think James gets a 15-20 second buffer based on perfect weather. Any dampness and that buffer will reduce a lot. Leaving only 5 seconds as Jimmy Broadbent as daily sim racer and more weathered track racer now commands, is a lot to ask. An 8-10 second buffer over a factory driver seems fair enough. So if Kern can do 6:50 under conditions in play, James ought to have this, but he can't afford any booboos or apprehension.

Truth is Ferrari trip computers are notoriously inaccurate for miles remaining. It’s likely dicier with a Lusso with fuel in rear pumping forward to feed the engine when the cars on an angle.

Kind of a bit wet behind the ears. Maybe it’s a youth thing. Never ever let any cars like this get under quarter of a tank, it’s just not good for them, it’s not just a Ferrari thing. I’ve owned lambos, Ferraris and many GT Porsches for the last 30 years and from the beginning always told never let them run low and never let them get to the point where the light comes on. At that point so much crap can start running through your fuel lines and into your engine. It’s not worth it with any car really

Which means they have to refuel quite often, which becomes annoying. So I can understand that run them until there's no other option than refuelling...
