I especially liked when he displayed the jealousy towards Tommy. "Now I'm the one with all the power". I think it's too bad that they didn't think of having Jason and Kimberly come out of the lava pit as dark versions of the original tyrannosaurus and pterodactyl rangers.

I managed to snag mine when Insight Editions had it on sale for $15 (Ranger Liz had tweeted saying it was on sale). Snatched it up very quickly, and then it went back up to $50 the next day or so. Best deal on it I've seen thus far, but yeah most prices are around $50-ish or so. Still worth it though! I absolutely love the book. :)

Turbo: A power rangers movie is the only movie that's canon in the main power rangers continuity, fun fact. They actually flashback to the movie's events in the first few episodes of Turbo and also Lerigot features in there, helping Zordon return to Eltar and allowing Dimitria and Alpha 6 to come onto the cast of characters.

⚡Turbo a Power Rangers Movie does takes place in the same storyline as the tv series. In the first episode they showed scenes and made some references to the movie. And also in the first episode of Power Rangers in Space, Divatox made a comment to Dark Spector about how he resembles her late husband/fiance.

Western audiences are hard to please at times. If the japanese version of Power Rangers in space had first time ever seven rangers with red, black, green, blue, yellow, pink and silver as technically a sixth warrior, Justin would be a good fit as the green space ranger.

His character was annoying. And in real life Blake is a sucky human being. There’s countless fans saying how much of a douche bag he is. He’s always saying racial slurs and homophobic slurs. His most public outburst was against one of the new ranger actors on Beast Morphers. He took a jab at the poor kid saying a “nerdy fag” shouldn’t have been casted as the gold ranger. He can have his opinions but to go out of his way to write negative things to people is just not okay. I hope they never bring him back to the franchise. He’s unworthy…

I enjoyed the Turbo movie despite its flaws because it had good fan service (Kat's usage of the Zeo powers, bringing back Jason and Kim, Rita/Zedd cameo) and I thought Hilary's performance as Divatox was over the top in a really fun and hilarious way. It also had good music like Fulflej's "Shift Into Turbo". I didn't enjoy the tv series because it started to feel like a completely different show in a sort of depressing way. Alpha and Zordon leave, most of the cast gets replaced in one swoop, and even Hilary has to leave for half the season. The second set of rangers grew on me when they went into Space, but the whole season just felt like a send-off into adulthood both for the first cast and even for the kids like myself starting to grow out of the show.

Originally, Billy was suppose to be part of this movie, but when he left Zeo they cut him out of the script. Also, they were suppose to explain how the Rangers transitioned from Zeo powers to Turbo powers.

I know this is an older post, but I just wanted to chime in with my personal theory. When Saban decided that it was no longer cost effective to have reshoots with MMPR shoots with other sentai, like Dairanger, probably some heat from Bandai to sell the toys-the Zeo mythology was created with Zordon telling the team the Zeo powers will continue to get stronger as a "catch all" to pre-emptively explain new suits later on without having to explain why/destroy the powers like in MMPR and prepare for the next Sentai adaptations. So any power after would just be an extension of the great Zeo powers. However, the Zeo crystal was set up as a magical mcguffin, so with the next sentai being car themed, it made it hard to just say Zeo grew lol.

I've hear many theories and heard many rumors as well. Like before David Yost left, there were plans to say Billy created the turbo zords and when he went to power them with the Zeo crystal-the crystal then adapted and changed the suits, weapons, etc. I've also heard another rumor that the crystal was too powerful and was draining the rangers' life force and they had to create new powers using knowledge passed by Ninjor to tap into the morphing grid and the cars were used as conduits instead of dinosaurs or animals, and another was that when Zordon said in the movie "with the zords you are creating..." before the suits were unveiled, they were using the Zeo crystal in that scene and it transformed the powers. Sadly, we don't have a black and white answer to this. Personally, since there is a scene in the Turbo movie where Zordon is referencing that the Rangers are making the Zords, I like to believe they are using the Zeo crystal to power them and in doing so altered the crystal and their suits.

Coincidentally, I rewatched the Turbo movie online again last night, owing to the fact that May 29 was the birthdays of Steve Cardenas and Blake Foster. I found Justin rather annoying, like the Jar Jar Binks of the season. It's a good thing that the producers never hired another preteen to play a Power Ranger in subsequent seasons.

I don't think age was the issue. There are plenty of child actors, younger than Blake was, who perform amazingly. The main issue I feel, was the execution of his character, and the time constraints that prevented a more flushed out character.

According to Linkara during his Power Rangers Turbo/Beetleborgs Metallix crossover episode, they brought Justin into the story as an attempt to cash-in on the success of Big Bad Beetleborgs. The thought process was, because Beetleborgs had kids turning into adult-sized superheroes, the same process could work for Power Rangers. I agree though with his point, in that this concept only could work for Beetleborgs, because that was the concept. Trying to mesh it in the middle of a series that was tried and tested already, just seemed forced and out of place.

This was a truly wonderful video. Hearing all these fantastic fact about Turbo: A Power Rangers Film just makes me want to rewatch the movie for fun. I thought Turbo: A Power Rangers Film was entertaining and darn right cool and as for the bad guy of the film, well I think that the producers of the Power Rangers in Space series just wanted to use the costume for the series, because it was just so cool and scary looking.

I really enjoyed Turbo for the most part as a kid and rewatch from time to time. I think the biggest issue I always had with it was the continuity. Where you just have this big hole between the end of Zeo and the turbo movie.

Regarding the mention of Maligore vs. Dark Specter, I consider it to be a reuse of the costume, and nothing more. The two are entirely separate and unrelated characters, though it did seem fitting that Divatox mentioned the similarity in appearance between the two, considering that she was supposed to be married to one of them.

I only watched this movie because Jason and Kimberly came back. When all of the original MMPR characters left, I stopped watching as a kid. I once watched all continuity episodes of MMPR up to the Turbo Movie when they were freely uploaded on KZbin. Hahaha. Good times. Took me about a month to finish.

Johnny Young Bosch said that they had a scene planned where the Piranhatrons we're going to try attacking the Command Center. Adam was supposed to go out and fight them using his Zeo powers, and he was going to get beaten and come back with the Zeo suit completely shredded. I don't know if they filmed this or not.

I did enjoy the Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie but felt it would’ve worked better as a multiple ep arc in the Turbo tv show. Now after hearing it was originally three hours long, I’d have LOVED to have seen it as a five episode arc ala Green With Evil and also the Lord Zedd intro eps. I know the Lord Zedd intro wasn’t a huge arc but I remember them airing over two or three nights on Fox. So I could certainly see them doing something like that with it trimmed down for five episodes and then Fox releasing a Special Edition dvd of the arc cut together including the extra footage. I loved Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, but i was a little disappointed. You see, there was an ad in Fox Kids Magazine where it seemed like we were gonna get a Zeo movie. The ad featured the Gold Ranger along with the other Rangers in their Zeo outfits and it said coming soon was a new movie so I thought that’s what it was gonna be. Then, when Turbo ads started airing, I was like “wait I thought Zeo was the next movie”. I have friends who saw the ad and thought that too. I enjoyed the movie but I also felt it could’ve been better. It felt like a pilot for Turbo but blown up into a movie. Please make a video about Turbo because it really felt like they didn’t capitalize as much as they could’ve. It always felt like just when it was reaching its highest highs, it got cut off and they went and did Power Rangers In Space which I ended up loving a lot. Ty again and sorry for the long response. I grew up with Power Rangers and the second movie and Turbo series always felt like they got cut off prematurely.

Imagine if Steve didn't leave Power Rangers and went on to become the Blue Turbo ranger... My fan conspiracy possibilities says: 1. He stayed even after the Power Transer 2. When the Rangers went on Space, he wasn't given a morpher so he continued on assisting Alpha in the Astro Megaship similar to Billy's character arc on Zeo. Except Rocky isn't as smart, but you get it 'assistance' to the team. 3. When Carlos doesn't want to be the Black Ranger anymore, Rocky replaced him for one episode while Adam is mentoring Carlos. 4. Being a ranger once again, Rocky showed an example to Carlos giving him 2 mentors that motivated him to be the Black Ranger again. 5. Phantom Ranger became badly injured and transferred his powers to Rocky giving the Space Rangers another Auxiliary Ranger for a brief time. Similar to Jason when he temporarily became the Gold Ranger. 6. After the season Finale, Rocky went home to officially retire leaving the team with Andros to another mission on finding his sister.

In my headcanon if Rocky was the blue turbo ranger in the first half of Turbo, he would be replaced by T.J in the second half with Adam, the green turbo Ranger becoming the new red turbo Ranger and leader taking over from Tommy. This is what my team would be Cassie:Pink Ashley: Yellow Carlos: Green T.J: Blue Adam: Red I asked Johnny Yong Bosch a question at Supanova in Sydney back in 2017 regarding if he was retained rather than being let go by Saban along with Nakia Burrise after Jason David Frank and Catherine Sutherland had announced their intentions to leave Power Rangers midway through Turbo, that Adam would become the leader of the New Turbo Rangers taking over from Tommy as the Red Turbo Ranger as JYB was growing his hair shoulder length similar to Tommy’s. JYB stated that it was to trick the fans as he greeting fans in New Mexico during filming of Turbo: a Power Rangers Movie and they all mistaken him for Adam.

And if that ever happened, it may alter the arc we got in Space season so I'm thankful for the wit they did to give us the InSpace season. Because if your head canon happened, we only ever got these stories because of the adjustment they had to come up with everytime an actor leaves or comes. Just like when JasonTriniZack left, they came up with stories. When Kimberly left, another adjustment. When they were slowly pushing away David Yost bc of his gender issues, they made Rocky the new blue ranger and instead of making him the Gold Ranger, they come up with an excuse. When Steve Cardenas decided to leave, they come up with Justin and altered the story. When the actress who played Kendrix in lost galaxy had to fight her leukaemia, Cassie was the first choice to replace her but because of Pat Ja Lee, they come up with Melody Perkins. Damn, I can't imagine what the story would be if your head canon happened, i mean it's not bad. I personally think Adam would make a good red ranger and he deserves it. I wish they did this on an alternative timeline comic or something

Probably just copying what Super Sentai did in Japan. In Dairanger, the series where we get the footage for Tommy’s White Ranger, the Kibaranger aka White Ranger was a kid that grew & eventually used his own voice. And in Ohranger, the series where we get Power Rangers Zeo, the KingRanger aka Gold Ranger was also a kid that grew and used his own voice.

What bothered me about Justin was not at all about being a kid but the fact that he had no further writing as far as I know excluding the eps with the Space team. I stopped watching hella years ago to know but no scripts reference him as a veteran ranger and they honestly could've had him mentor a team of future rangers cause if he stayed a ranger then he would've been the longest serving ranger cause he woulda had loads more years of experience before being an adult before inevitably going inactive

Or given modern trends in filming stuff, a completely unrelated figure who looks nothing alike 😂 keep your fingers crossed my guy he may be perfect mentor age when he (Justin, or Foster) is hitting late 30s so he'd be sorta retiring so he could have good scripts. Nobody expected Tommy in Dino Thunder so the viewers could have a surprise, personally I'd watch if he was cast as a mentor or 6th ranger

I love this movie! Always loved the sequence in the cars for the first time. Those ‘Mad Max’ shots of them driving out of the wall of dust always got me hyped.

My first experience with Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie was mostly watching the Nostalgia Critic tackle it. And because of him throwing jokes about the movie I haven’t watched it properly myself yet. Maybe someday.... And apparently the movie is meant to bridge the gap between Zeo and Turbo the season. Dark Specter looking like Maligore is apparently just the production crew reusing the costume to save on money. That wouldn’t be the only time they’d reuse the a main villain costume like that. Remember when Venjix from RPM got one of his forms costumes reused as a random monster in Ninja Steel?

As a kid, I rationalized that Maligore and Dark Specter were of the same species thus why they looked so similar. As an adult, I'm realize that it makes sense to try to get more milage out of an awesome costume.

Up Until Recent Years when Turbo A Power Rangers was Rereleased to BD I Honesty Forgot all about this Film, Not that I found it Bad or anything at its time I did Truly Enjoyed it whenever I watched it. I didn't find it as enjoyable as the The Original Film, but still enjoyable non the less. And with that said I've also found it a little too short some how.

Honestly, I think the Turbo movie is part of the main continuity of Power Rangers, as the Turbo series picks up after the movie, Rocky is shown to still be in recovery, and the Rangers have the Turbo powers, and are aware of Divatox when she attacks. If I remember correctly, I think Lerigot even made an appearance in the series. As for Malegore and Dark Specter looking alike, Divatox makes a reference to that to Dark Specter in the premiere of in Space. She told him that he reminds her of her fiance. A blatant jab at the fact that it was the same costume used for both characters. Though, they never went into detail about why that was. The Turbo movie is the only one out of the three PR movies that is in continuity with the main series.

@@chaoslacky1585 yeah. I read some fan theories that Malegore could be the same species as Dark Specter, albeit an adolescent, whereas Dark Specter is an adult. That is used to explain the difference in size and possibly power.

Um, the Turbo movie isn't in an alternate universe, it is canon as the Turbo pilot. Episode one of Turbo, they recap some of the events in the movie

Was interesting that with Justin's morph sequence was based on the original White Ranger of the Sengi Series since he was a kid that "grew" into an adult when morphed. Something that was good was they kept things very tight between the movie and the TV series. However, I get that when the entire cast left and was replaced who would become the Power Rangers in Space cast. They got real lazy with the morph sequence. I mean they just were: "Shift into Turbo" add in lights and they were Power Rangers. Verses actually calling out the power style and then having the transformation sequence. Of course final time we would see such a "quick and save money" sequence when they moved to the Power Rangers in Space and of course Lost Galaxy.

they explain-ish the Spectre and Malagor thing just as an offhanded line of "you remind me of my ex husband" from Divatox during In Space, I would imagine the explanation is they are the same species. the movie is in fact the pilot for that season of the show as well, it was broken down and aired as episodes when the season started.
