Thanks Matt. Trailers make or break the chatterbait. People are worried about having the most expensive chatterbait but give no thought to trailers. Flapping horizontal trailers work great for hopping a chatterbait or bumping bottom on retrieve. Zoom speed worms cut to about 4.5" works great as a trailer and allows max hunting action. Alot of ripped craws and creature baits work as trailers in a pinch.

I've gotten to where I never use a flappy ridged craw or boot-tailed trailer on my bladed jigs. For me, flukes do a great job of mimicking bait fish. A Powerstinger is another great choice. But here's the juice...if you can get your hands on some Berkley Craw Fatties, those things are just magical on the back of a slobberknocker. I turn them sideways on the hook to better mimic a fish's tail and fish it almost like a swim jig with jerks, stops, and rips. It's something slightly different those bass haven't seen and I am catching piles of quality fish; several over 6 pounds.
