All I do is just buy a quest and play it like it was originally + the strap and only buy games and I get so much fun anyway :]
@bedner233 ай бұрын
I honestly think the only required accessory for the quest 3 is a stand to hold it when not in use and the Bobo strap w/ battery.
@EGoat3 ай бұрын
I think that's true, but to play for long periods of time, you'd also want a face mask that works well and also ventilates the face too so it doesn't get foggy.
@pyton95533 ай бұрын
I think most people just forgot about VR. They heard that it has a lot of wires, screens are pixelated, there's only a few games, etc. We have everything done they complained about, but no one knows.
@EGoat3 ай бұрын
@pyton9553 I think the games are the biggest thing for people to get VR headsets. If they wanted to use it for anything else, they would just use their phones. This is why I think if another Half-Life game or something of that magnitude came out, it would sell VR and the games like hotcakes. Either way, we won't see it be pushed until 2-3 years later.
@pyton95533 ай бұрын
@@EGoat , you might be right, but I'm certain there're already a lot of great games near to the "level" of Alyx, especially PC game ports. No Man's Sky or Skyrim are my favourites. And I would even say that I liked Resident Evil 4 more than Alyx😁 There's more dynamic for me. For new people it's enough games to play for 100 hours. But as a VR gamer I agree, I wanna see more Alyx games :)

Even with Arkham Shadow and it looking good, I don't see it as THE game people need to get for VR. But that could be a personal preference. I hope that it has more than 10 hours' worth of gameplay at minimum.

@@EGoat Minecraft VR?
@EGoat3 ай бұрын
@jz261 It's a game that's been ported to VR. I should clarify that there needs to be a game that's built only for VR and not ported or changed to be on VR. Besides that, many people are not going to buy Minecraft just to play it in VR. Most will play on their desktop.

i agree with a some of what you’re saying, however, the simulator community usesVR quite widespread and that’s not talked about in the mainstream as much. that community alone is responsible for some of the technology being pushed forward. definitely need better tech and optimization, and prices to come down

Sorry I have a Meta Quest 3 and it’s amazing. I think people played the Meta Quest 1 and 2 and it put a bad taste in their mouth the Meta Quest 3 is really amazing tech. Its not just about the games or graphics it’s about the features and all the other things you can do with them
@EGoat3 ай бұрын
@andrebillups4079 Honestly, I know they're going towards a direction for making more than a gaming system, but I only looked through the lens of the gaming world for this video. I do think it's amazing tech, but not good enough to use for everyday life (yet) because the system specs are still not as powerful for the price point. I only have a Quest 2, and hopefully, once I start earning more money, I can save for something for a PCVR headset. But I know the Quest 3 is good, but imma wait until the next Gen headset comes out to buy.
@andrebillups40793 ай бұрын
@@EGoat I would say better graphics, cameras for mixed reality and hand tracking, and maybe a 5G connection so you can use it outside or on the go anywhere. Then it’ll be perfect. With all the updates the 3 has gotten lately it’s amazing but could be better.
@paranoidparanoid60903 ай бұрын
Standalone is the present and future, because people would rather buy one thing that just works, people like it when it takes no effort/cables to run. And standalone is cheaper and getting exclusives (Batman or assassins creed) and graphics wise it's getting there, the quest 3 is already delivering good graphics, the next headset is gonna be revolutionary and probably allow pcvr level graphics, the gap between quest 1, 2, and 3 has been big, i think the quest 4 will deliver the best overall experience on a platform that will have enough high quality games by then (quest being backwards compatible)
@donovan63203 ай бұрын
I don't actually believe standalone is necessarily the entire future. I think PCVR will still have a place for basically ever. You can just look a lot better with a 3070 pushing your graphics compared to a quest headset. However, I will agree that I believe base stationless tracking mechanisms, and wireless are the future. I'm hoping eventually the deckard will put some more space in the PCVR space and introduce itself as a standalone platform. Which I think will kind of unify both.

Let’s be honest, most people that upgrade their quest do it because they wanna upgrade it, people like customizing things. There are a lot of benefits to customizing it because you get the upgrades, but is it a necessity no. But people always wanna justify their purchases.
@EGoat3 ай бұрын
Yeah, but honestly, I would just wait until the next generation for another standalone headset that'll have better specs and better quality visuals than upgrading towards a Quest 3. So it also depends on specs and quality.
@steffendetrick3 ай бұрын
@@EGoat I was referring more to the accessories. But I did upgraded to the the 3 and the pancake lenses are nice but I do think people exaggerate them a little bit. Personally, with all of the other little upgrades, the color pass through, it’s definitely more comfortable and better sound. But ultimately for me, it was performance and the better games that comes with that, Batman, Alien and any other exclusives that will be released between now and the end of next year. Plus the better performance for all existing gams , especially when you use Quest optimizer.
@EGoat3 ай бұрын
@steffendetrick Yeah, I can agree with that. But I think it's still hinders a lot of games due to how the specs are right now. Sometimes, when I play standalone vs. PCVR, it's a huge difference, and I hope soon we see the standalone feel the same power as a PC (low-mid spec wise)
@steffendetrick3 ай бұрын
@@EGoat I agree I spend the majority of my time playing PCVR but a big part of it is optimization. There are some PCVR games that actually look worse than Quest games regardless of hardware. There’s definitely garbage on both platforms. I’m very curious to see how Batman and alien turn out. If Batman looks as good as what we have seen and can hold frame rate I would have absolutely no problems playing stand alone games like that. But you could wait for the Quest 5 and still not have good games because the user base is going to dictate what kind of games developers make. If people don’t upgrade and most of the user base is still running old hardware then we are going to get games developed for that hardware. That affects PCVR to an extent as well because the Quest user base subsidizes the sales of these titles that release on both platform. The developers have already said PCVR is not profitable which is why a lot of the big developers have stayed away or just gave us bad ports. Only 2% of the Steam user base plays PCVR. VR is definitely going through some growing pains right now and I really hope the 3S sells well. We need all VR platforms to do well and become more profitable for developers to develop on better hardware.
