Yeah. After months of fantasizing about Ny'alotha all we get is a standard Raid. The question is - is that Blizzard's fault or simply the community sets itself up for disappointment creating those elaborate speculations. As for 8.3 - I think they cut huge amounts of content from the game. There were some datamined maps where Nzoth was physically visible in Nazjatar. This would align with the "cost cuts" drama that was going on last year in Blizzard. 8.3 feels like a x.5 patch rather than an expansion finale to me.

"That which was sunken will rise" The thing about Ny'alotha is that it's a reality in N'zoths mind, but it's based upon a real place. That city had to have gone somewhere and it's based off of H.P Lovecraft's R'lyeh which is a sunken city. People are forgetting the puzzlebox of yogg-saron which came before Il'gynoth's quotes. "At the bottom of the ocean even light must die.", "In the sunken city, he lays dreaming." This clearly states that Ny'alotha is beneath the ocean. Also other interesting quotes: "There is no sharp distinction between the real and the unreal." A reference to Ny'alotha in 8.3, a reality that is not real, but is being brought into reality by tearing down the veil between the two worlds, as Blizzard said "Ny'alotha is all around us"

Putting him in contrast with Xalatath who wanted nothing more than freedom is nice. Heck it may even be that it was part of the deal, and Xalatath shows up to stab N'zoth and takes him away in a role reversal situation(mostly thinking that because there is files in 8.3 referencing Xalatath's model being used, but who knows)

N'zoth: All that were sleeping... shall be awakened. Alleria: The whispers did not end with his defeat. In fact, it seems new voices have joined the chorus. Could these lines refer to the same thing? If so, it's possible that N'zoth just channeled all the azerite into his shadow friends in Ny'alotha, giving them enough power to awaken. Also, with him being the deception and illusion master he is, I doubt we even fought his true form.

So Deathwing was a maddened Dragon Aspect. His son Wrathion.. decides to take the blade for 'inspection" and is on his way to meet up with N'Zoth. The players use the heart of azeroth to kill N'Zoth but then Wrathion saves N'Zoth by stabbing him with the blade. And then plunges the blade into himself. Releasing the blood of Azeroth fused with N'Zoth into his body and becomes an all powerful Void Dragon with the power of Azeroth blood and an Old God. This was N'Zoth plan from the beggining. To give himself enough strength and power to destroy the unbalanced power of death. The light made a pact with the enemy of all (death) and changed the balance of power. Void had to do something to counter that threat. So N'Zoth and Wrathion work together. Next expansion will be Void vs Death/Light.

Blizzard already stated that by filling the Heart of Azeroth with Azerite we actually don't help Azeroths World Soul. Instead we are weakening it and making it so that the World Soul is corrupted by N'Zoth. This is the entry story of the next expansion. World of Warcraft: The Dark Titan. In the next expansion we see the rise of the warped titan, seeing it embrace the might it has and finishing its corruption. Obviously Sylvanas and Bolvar come into play here since "Death" is immune to "Void" as in N'Zoths whisperings. This comes in handy with the faction merge and indirect scourge theme. I just hoped for a dragon expansion though.

I'm hoping N'Zoth planned most of these events and wants to be absorbed into the blade (assuming his heart or something survived and the blade is used on it). Maybe it's needed for him to enter the Shadowlands (to deal with the threats within it? Or something along that). The upcoming expansion will be Shadowlands/Death-themed. N'Zoth will probably re-merge at the end of the expansion, and the following expansion will be a full-fledged Black Empire expansion, with N'Zoth being the main villain, but the final boss being an actual Void Lord.

And then after the battle, the illusion fades and we realize what we have done. N'Zoth's tentacles creep in, and he takes control of Azeroth's body for himself. Seeing some 1000 year old master plan come full circle... or are we just seeing mastermind (Blizzard) just make things up as they go along. I would be surprised if everything was not a clique or trope thus far... how many times has a raid ended with the a cliffhanger reveal of true evil manifesting before us as the Heroes hesitate on the killing blow and end up screwing all our good work. I am still trying to figue out what the whole story about Alleria Windrunner was suppose to be, she was setup to be this big character, brings in the void elves, her undead sister is threatening the alliance and the planet... and she was swept aside never to be heard from again, its all been about Magister Umbric. The Black Blade might be a contingency plan and N'zoth might already enact it. He may already put a part of his essence into the Blade, enough for it be sentient or to even repair the rest of him after being blasted by Azerite and the players. So now the Blade is with Wrathion, taken safely away from the scary raid, and giving him his second chance to return. I'm wondering if Azshara could be in on it or not, since she doesn't seem to question how or why N'zoth left the Blade on her, even tho I think there's...not much place to hide the thing on her. And the raid left her alive because honor and stupidity I guess.

Just because there is something that blizzard has made a big effort to show us, in quest or raids, doesn't mean it's HAS to come now. It just means WoW devs do one thing and completely abandon them. Plenty of good materials in this world they've created and left it unused. I wouldn't bet on the Emerald Nightmare/Dream to come into play, neither the Blade. N'zoth is going to get a quick end and they're going to move on to the next expansion.

So steps up Bolvar / Lich King to guide the dead heroes into the shadowland (ofcourse the living cannot pass into the afterlife) in order to preserve the balance and the need to bring back the dead Azeroth world soul back whole to the world of living before the planet completely is destroyed.

What if Slyvanas goes to Northrend to take the crown from Bolvar, becoming the new Lich Queen, raising a new army of undead then going after Azshara then N'Zoth? That's the vibe i got from the sly/saurfang cinematic.

Blizzard gave us the clues all along. N'Zoth wants to use the Black Blade to transfer his essence to the body of Azeroth. Xalatath even said she was now free to roam the cosmos. N'zoth wants the same thing but what is better than a Titans body? Part of this probably has to do that Azeroths sleeping soul is in the emerald dream and as long as she stays asleep, N'zoth can assume control.

It's quite fun to be speculating and hypothesizing where the story will take us and how. I just hope the actual path the writers take will outdo our speculations. At the moment i don't see any elements of time travel and alternate timelines so how badly can they fuck it up?

Well, if Azeroth is giving us some of her power to defeat N'Zoth, then it's quite possible she is sacrificing part of her to help. Leaving her a little weakened for N'Zoth to really claim corruption of the world (or at least part of it). He might be weakened from the blast and planted into the blade but not before planting a seed. There's just no way they could plot a fully manifested old god into the game (one that is mischievous and sly) only to be killed in a PATCH. There is something more at play here and it could possibly lead up to the Void Lords. Maybe we'll find it sometime in the next expansion or maybe even 10.0.
