We wish to express our deep sadness at the loss of one of Canada's heroes in palliative care. Larry Librach's vision, leadership, and passion in advancing the field of palliative care is a true legacy; one that will live on and continue to benefit many Canadians to come. Please visit the Temmy Latner Center for Palliative Care site for a complete overview of Larry's significant accomplishments.
One of Larry's last contributions was a candid video interview on May 23, 2013 about his own personal experience facing a life-threatening illness. Please take a moment to listen.
This was filmed as part of a series of unscripted videos called the ‘The Truth of It.’ Learn about patients’ and caregivers’ unique experiences as well as their common threads of emotions, coping and perspective: www.partnershipagainstcancer....
Note the interviewees express their own opinions, and not necessarily those of the Partnership.

I worked closely with Larry on several projects in Palliative and End of Life Care. He was my friend and my mentor. I miss his sense of humour and his guidance.

Best views on the subject I have seen. From a Doctor having seen both sides of the cancer story now as patient, very touching but a real conversation those going through non-survivable cancer should watch. My sister passed alway from small-cell lung cancer in 2004, I took her to her first visit with the oncologist and was there for all the radiation and Chemo treatments when others could not have the strength to take her, even her husband. I went to her home every day for that 10 month journey till she passed. Wish this video would have been available then, I would have helped us all. Bless this man, I know you have left at least one legacy.

My dad died from it. He really suffered the last 2-3 months of his life. He was in hospital and I asked his doctor to end it all but he said no as it was illegal.

It's too bad that beautiful people like him have to go at such a young age. I wish I knew about this video when my 52 years old friend was fighting pancreatic cancer.
