Hello, Guy from Hong Kong here, we also have right hand drive and is a small market. So I am not sure why Australia is not high on priority of the list. The cynical me says the big fossi fuel providers in Australia is doing everything they can to delay competition in Australia, and the govt hate electric cars that they cannot earn tax from petrol

My wife and I purchased a blue model 3 a few weeks ago (we are both 36) and find exactly the same things in regard to everyone thinking they’re super expensive, not taking any fuel and the other one is they think it will only have enough charge for 1 trip to the shops 😂 - FYI we get $100 discount on our yearly rego in Victoria too 👍🏻

I am 21 from SA and have just taken delivery of my model 3. I absolutely love it. I do a lot of driving, so I felt I needed it, and omg it was a brilliant decision on my behalf. I love not having to visit a petrol station, being able to charge at home, 1 pedal driving and so much more Lots of government (federal and state government) subsidies helped like being able to pay for al the costs PRE tax.

I just stumbled onto your channel. Great video. You guys are on the front lines with promoting EVs from a 'real' experiential perspective in Aus/VIC. We're also in VIC and we plan on buying a M3 or MY (when available) in the next 12-18 months. Our friends in remote eastern Tasmania just bought a M3 and they charge at home - they rate it the best car they've ever owned, and that's coming from BMW, Mercedes and Audi ownership for 30 years. Love what you are doing and we look forward to being part of the EV wave that is slowly crashing in Aus! Yes, we subscribed!

I'm gonna be looking at upgrading to an SUV in a couple of years and am hoping the Model Y is out by then, because overall it appeals to me the most out of any car out there in terms of price, serviceability, practicality and performance. My only hang-up aside from long-term battery life is the fact that literally everything is controlled by the on-board computer. How common are electrical gremlins and bugs in Tesla's software? Is it also prone to systems crashes and errors? Thanks!
@JBInd
@JBInd 2 жыл бұрын
we are also keen for the model y, i think it will sell really well (especially in Aus). in terms of bigs in tesla software.. we havent had any major issues that caused a safety concern. a few minor things like spotify being weird, phone taking a while to connect to car etc, but these are all first world problems really... thanks for watching and leaving a comment Samuel!

Honestly pretty torn rn.

The reason why young people don't have tesla is because they are very expensive. I owned one and i was literally the only young person with a tesla in my whole entire city, even the other tesla owners confirmed it. 60k is just too much to pay for a car imp especially for young people. Better putting that money on the stock.

EV adoption is accelerating every year. Exponential not linear. The only limiting factor is batteries. The number of electric vehicles and types of vehicles and trucks is growing. Electric vehicles are just better. No noise, no emissions, less fuel costs, less maintenance costs and amazing technology. Gasoline and diesel are OLD polluting technology. So last century. Electric cars, electric trucks, electric buses, electric trash haulers, electric snow blowers, electric lawn mowers, electric snow mobiles, electric water craft, electric garden tools, electric mechanic tools, electric motor cycles, electric bicycles, electric scooters, electric farm tractors, electric construction equipment, electric delivery vehicles, ...... everything is going electric. No worries about starting after sitting for a few months. Gas always needs repairs.

things you did not mentioned or you don't know the differentiate from an ICE car and EV in Australia cost comparisons. such as Insurance cost is likely high, parts and fittings from incidents takes longer wait than ICE car. 3000 rebate is nothing tbh. they get it back from your KM/2.5cents. Using charging station to charge your EV is really not much different how much you paying to the petrol if EV taxing per km. So the only savings is charging your EV at your own home's electricity bills. Tesla 3 $65k vs Toyota Camry hybrid SL top of the range model for $51k. For an average private driver usage base on 20,000km per year. Toyota is still biggest budgets. Yes Tesla is zero emission is good for environment and it shouldn't be taxing so high or cost so expensive but aussie's gvt don't care because they wont make much money from the charging electric than petroleum. Just like repeating the history again Morgan destroy Nikola Tesla's works because he doesn't like the idea for giving people free from electric and makes no money from meters. But if you drive more than 50,000km plus then you will do see some savings over the years if u keeping it for more than 5 years. But in the next 5 years there will be more competitions EV brands markets by then the price tag could be much lesser. $65k are still expensive to buy for young people. If you earn 70K per year you can consider to buy that range of value and enough for house mortgage. But if you're rich parent of cos the young people can leech that money off from parent then lucky for them. Young people coming out to work isn't an easy to earn so much for the start of the adultery independent life. So an average age to considering to buying a such an expensive car mostly at 35yo plus. To encouraging people to convert to EV in Australia is still an early stage or to say Australia is far behind comparing to other countries. lack of EV charging station, cost of using EV charged at station way too high. And bullshit taxes ripping people off. Australian citizens are the slavery of ATO.
@JBInd
@JBInd 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan, thanks for comment, I do agree that Aus is way behind other countries, but being an early adopter in the space and contributing to a hopefully more sustainable Australia is pretty cool and you can't put a price tag on that! Thanks for stopping by the channel and watching our content :) have a great day mate!

@@JBInd Agree also. It help the local Australian to open wild their eye to see that EV can go on road and can go on towing your boat and is not dangerous as they thought its a bomb on road or electrocute drivers or riders inside the EV during raining days or wet road. All that proven safety checks list apart from how driver's behaviour. But the EV's insurance policy is still ridiculously in Australia.
@QuitWithNick
@QuitWithNick 2 жыл бұрын
Good review, but you left out something absolutely crucial that’s important for someone thinking of buy this, INSURANCE! It’s ridiculous and for me, was a deal breaker. Anything from $2,000 to a comical $9,000 A YEAR! Ah, no thanks. What you save on fuel and servicing will disappear right here. You can be forgiven here though, when doing a car review you get lost in the nuts n bolts in front of you, but in this case, it’s important to mention. There are currently extremely few EV repairers, parts are difficult and timely to acquire and the car may need to be toed very far to get fixed, that’s the insurance company justification. Obviously, this will change in the future, but it’s still a joke for now. Mercedes it is for now.
@JBInd
@JBInd 2 жыл бұрын
Insurance was quite expensive you're right, hopefully in the future more EV specific insurance policies can be developed to better tailor the EV experience. Congrats on your decisions. I suggest looking to crowd sourcing/funding/supporting one another locally for all your challenges. Neighborhood : solar charging stations, flat tire response calls, new user training, etc. create a dialogue with an “in the know” person from Tesla, who knows maybe they would offer some support from the company. And keep on making vide! The rest of the world wants to see your beautiful country through your eyes and your windshield / screen. Thanks for all you do. Jim, USA

The most stupid decision they have made. Just search for The Electric Vehicle Charging Problem video to see for yourself. Spare all this "sharing is caring" BS, please do the world a favor. No one wants to see to see the world through the windshield of this "computers on wheels". Hope this honest opinion helps.

Hmmm. Dun splurge 60k on a car... if corona has taught us anything it's that splurging on a car is senseless.... buy a cheap car and spend on gas and Go places whilst your young... or travel the world. That's what all youth SHOULD be doing. Your car is just like a toilet seat something you use in a day... it shouldn't be something that defines you.

We aren’t really for “shoulds” and “musts”. Our car doesn’t define us but we love it and it brings us a lot of joy. We still can go lots of places and travel the world (when we can safely) and own a Tesla 🙂

Handy Hint #2 - If charging from a normal 10 amp power point when staying at a motel (with permission) or friend's house, you can increase the charging speed by 50% by using an ampfibian Mini or RV Plus. Make sure that the house wiring is sound. Available from many stores including Bunnings.

Make sure that the house wiring is sound - Are you taking electrician with you on every trip to make this "sure"?
@johnrogers1423
@johnrogers1423 3 жыл бұрын
Good thinking, I hadn't thought of that. I expressed it badly. Basically just make a judgement as to whether the wiring is likely to be old by using the age of the house as a guide. When staying in a motel, and charging the car with permission, I stop charging while cooking so as not to overload the circuit.

@@johnrogers1423 No point of buying, owning a "toaster-car", power-hungry car, especially this one .In fact these EVs are not good for environment and the humankind. Unfortunately..or fortunately...
@johnrogers1423
@johnrogers1423 3 жыл бұрын
Fortunately, or unfortunately for you, the facts are not on your side. Over 80% efficiency as opposed to around 25% efficiency for ICE cars says it all. Even comparing EVs in their early stages of development with ICE cars in their mature stage is clear cut. EVs will only improve over time whereas ICE cars will disappear. As far as cars are concerned the trend is irreversible. It isn't Hydrogen and it isn't petrol, diesel or natural gas. The jury is still out as to whether trucks will be powered by electricity or hydrogen.
@stanleywhiteman6450

@@johnrogers1423 Fortunately for us all these "efficient" EV cars will be obsolete in a few years. Nobody is planning to buy something that is required so much effort to run. And in colder areas of the Earth it is no brainier either. Even simple methane based engine will beat them all in all respects. Lets face it you bought this because you want "to save the Earth" and it "cost you less to fill up" etc? Where there is no your beloved bunnings what you are going to do to recharge if stranded for e.g. on the road 100kms from home? Call "dirty diesel" to evacuate you? Oh..No! Therefore as Mark Twain once very well said "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated"!

Got the brand NEW Tesla car the second day , and guess what , 1. Cruise control failed to work 2. Auto regenerative brake failed to work 3. All cameras failed to work , including reverse camera, showing all black 4. Sentry mode failed to work 5. Obviously Autopilot failed to work as well Some simple things such as Cruise control fails to work, it's just ridiculous on the quality of this car , it is very low quality. It won't even alert me if a car is too close to the car on another lane .... it's insane! Also, took the car to service in the morning till 5pm , I still haven't got it back, I never expect this to happen when I buy a brand new car, it's the worst experience ever in my life! Nightmare!! I would give it 0 star and minus!!! So many things just fails on a "Brand new car" After my serious complaints and hounding on the phones, ....finally the service manager there named Nick has managed to turn the table around and I was satisfied at the end. I appreciate his actions on top of it, the attitude and the way he made me satisfy and understood my initial frustration of this car failing. Tesla should thank Nick for this or other wise I wouldnt want a Tesla anymore. Since Nick has turned it around, I have more confidence with it now. 19th May 2022 review: Well I was going to give it a 1 star but since I got my car back now on the Second fault which I loose full power steering, and also I'm very not happy WITH Karl the service manager not compensating me which I told him I had to spend $30 out of pocket on Ubers , he promised to call me back with something but he never calls back, no call backs with updates when I requested, rude !!! During the service , there was heaps lack of communications , not direct call to the service centre and your customer team knows nothing no updates on my car until the last minute , the fault of the car was not descriptive, Karl told me something hit the car to cause this but how fragile is that ??? My old car never have this problem besides I just need regular service , this will be on your google review , youtube review and fair trading as well!! But overall, I don't think Tesla gives a shit of what it's customer feedbacks are - will be my first and last car for sure

@John Rogers Your solar panels are manufactured in Australia? Or in China? What involved in the process of manufacturing for these panels? Does this create severe pollution? The answer Yes, it does. Storm in Ipswich blew off the roofs the panels, insurance still pays? So your solar panels were smashed say by hail on the 31st of December 2020 and you need a quote to remove and replace them. Let’s hope it is all under insurance. It is expensive because it may be the case when it will cost the same to replace your entire system! It is like say you would have your own oil refinery in the backyard for your ICE cars :) ! When relocating to a new house are you going to take "your" solar panels with you? Today govt supports this tomorrow that...etc... Rejecting EVs is the right thing to do. You are talking only about driving pleasure. Hmmm...Honda's hmmm and BMWs not the best cars around for sure. I believe you simply have had a bad experience with either of them and decided to save on gas? Have you ever encountered such thing as Thermal Runaway in the lithium battery? No. Let's hope you never will. By the way according to experts .. A hail damaged solar panel will usually cause a so-called “fault to earth”. In other words, power will flow from the panels to your roof. So, yeah, the technology is right there ..in your wallet..A new replacement 6kW panel will cost yaaa!...around $8500 The cheapest EV of that type cost is $50,500 ? The most expensive up to $210,000..Am I correct? Oh..! So economical! But when you buy the car "as an investment" (this is what teenagers often do, when they buy "an investment" car, you know..with time it will cost more , not less or so they say) this is all right, "thankyou, thankyou brother!" from American industry who pulled the plug on manufacture of cars here in Oz but .."thank you brother" for support..of their "economy" (sarc). There is only one option no matter how hard is to admit this: Rejecting EVs is the best thing to do. West (ICE) is best, East (EV) is least...
