The Qumran Bible scrolls confirm the accuracy of our Hebrew text of the OT. They do not confirm the truth of the content. This is a quite different exercise. An accurate copy of fiction does not turn into fact.

Dr. Kipp Davis gives a full rebuttal to the claim by his old mentor Dr. Flint, that Psalm 22 has a Pre-Christian translation that matches the Septuagint (Greek Old Testament), rather than the Masoretic Text (Hebrew Bible) and 100% of all other Hebrew Manuscripts on the Psalm.
@Logik10023 жыл бұрын
In the Hebrew Masoretic text, the verse reads: “For dogs have encircled me, an evil congregation surrounded me; like a lion my hands and my feet.” The Lxx translation, however, did not read the Hebrew word כָּאֲרִי, kā’ari, “like a lion” but rather כָּאֲרווּ ka’aru, “they dug,” and thus they translated the word with the Greek word ὢρυξαν, ōruxsan, “they dug” or “they pierced.” The difference was whether the original word ended with a vav or a yod. Virtually all English translations (except those offered by Jewish publications) have followed the Lxx translation instead of the Masoretic text, giving us the well-known phrase, “they pierced my hands and my feet.” Christian translators choose to follow the Lxx because it fit their messianic interpretation of the passage, disregarding the questionable reading of the Hebrew original. The Psalms Scroll found at Qumran did not include 22:16 because the manuscript was damaged at the very place Dr. Flint has transcribed to support his conclusion.

@@Logik1002 But, "like a lion" can't be a mistranslation? Because the both words are very similar and the phrase "like a lion my hands and feet" doesn't have full meaning I think. I think if it was really "like a lion my hands and my feet" it will have some words in the middle for complete the phrase. For example "like a lion they hurt my hands and feet".

I think the one of the the shepherds was a kid looking for a sheep. He wanted to see if the sheep was in a cave, so he threw a rock in to try and scare it out. Then he heard the jar comtaining the scrolls break, and the next day, him and some others went to investigate the noise, and they found the scrolls.

It actually should NOT reinforce the belief in their veracity AT ALL! Every single one of the tens of thousands of scrolls has differences between them, no two are identical! All it shows is how popular the books that became "the bible" are, and that many many people believed that they were of value, and should be preserved.

Leviticus 24:22 - Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God. Exodus 12:49 - One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

@BDDBDD-xp9cx3 жыл бұрын
The Apostle John wrote his Gospel as well as Revelation towards the very end of his life around the year 90 AD or later. The Romans destroyed the temple in Jerusalem in the year 70 AD and the Essene community at Qumran was also destroyed at that time. So I believe you raise a good question because these guys in the video should be more specific in regards to the books found. From my reading of other books about the Dead Sea Scrolls the books found were from the Old Testament not the New. Perhaps they can clarify this in these comments.
@danc.19083 жыл бұрын
@@BDDBDD-xp9cx they were clear if all the works dated back to 1-300bc then they cannot contain new testament books that were writing 60-90 a.d.

The whole point of why they are so important is that they were written before the new testament was written and Jesus was born.

Very misleading, if most of the other sources I've read or seen so far are any guide. The scrolls do not mirror the gospels e.g The Community Rule. Nor is it settled that they were all written by the Essenes.

The discussion of the dead sea scrolls here make no mention of the gospels being found here, but rather many of the old testament writings.
